Chapter 931 - 931 917 Cant Do This (4)
Chapter 931: 917, Can’t Do This (4) Chapter 931: 917, Can’t Do This (4) “Carry them back to their room to sleep for a while,” Quan Jingwu said, carrying the two little treasures up towards the stairs.
Seventeen and Nineteen lay on his shoulders, listless.
Upon hearing this, Rhee’s anxiety eased.
As his figure disappeared into the staircase, Jian Luo and the others didn’t stay any longer—they greeted the Quan Family and left.
Quan Mingxuan saw them out and asked about Jian Qing’s situation on the way.
“Could it be that someone else rescued Jian Qing when you were searching at the top of the cliff?”
Jian Luo pursed his lips, “We can’t rule out that possibility. We’ve searched there for half a month and found nothing.”
“Regardless, at least we can now confirm that Jian Qing is still alive, and that’s what matters most,” Bai Jue analyzed.
They had been most concerned that Jian Qing would sink into the sea. Although they hadn’t found her yet, the most important thing was that she was still alive.
“As long as Jian Qing is alive, she will eventually come back to us,” Black Jack said, patting Jian Luo’s shoulder comfortingly.
Now, their attention needn’t focus on searching the sea area around the cliff. The most important thing was to find out who had sent the package.
Jian Luo understood his meaning and nodded.
Finally, he cautioned anxiously, “Mingxuan, we need to go back to M Country for now. Please help look after Jingwu and make sure he doesn’t do anything foolish.”
“Don’t worry, you guys be careful too,” Quan Mingxuan said.
Jian Luo nodded and left with Black Jack.
Despite the tightly closed windows, the golden light still poured in.
On the bed, Quan Jingwu soothed the little ones to sleep, gently patting them with his slender, jade-like hand, his deep voice carrying a hypnotic magic.
Nineteen clutched Quan Jingwu’s sleeve tightly and gradually fell asleep, while Seventeen struggled to resist the pull of slumber.
Still shaken from the recent scare, Seventeen clung to Quan Jingwu, his eyelids growing heavy, yet he stubbornly fought the urge to sleep.
“Seventeen, would you like Daddy to make you some milk?” Quan Jingwu asked softly, touching his smooth cheek, his usually cool voice warming slightly.
“Okay.”
“Then let go of Daddy’s hand so I can get you the milk,” Quan Jingwu negotiated gently with him.
“No, I want Daddy.”
Between milk and Daddy, Seventeen didn’t hesitate to choose Daddy.
Quan Jingwu gazed at him, a trace of heartache flickering in the depths of his eyes. He gently pried Nineteen’s hand away and lifted Seventeen out of bed.
He held Seventeen with one hand while preparing the milk with the other.
“Here, drink your milk.”
Quan Jingwu placed the bottle in his hand for him to hold while drinking, then walked back and forth in the room, holding him and lulling him to sleep.
“Sleep well, Daddy will stay with you.”
Wearied by the medication and the fright, Seventeen was already very sleepy, but he had been afraid that Quan Jingwu would leave, so he kept fighting the tiredness. He had barely drunk a couple of sips of milk before he fell asleep.
Quan Jingwu removed the bottle and placed it on the table. He carried Seventeen to the side of the bed and, with tender movements, laid him down. Watching the little one’s peaceful sleeping face, he bent down and kissed their foreheads.
Pulling up the covers over them, Quan Jingwu took his phone and stepped outside to the balcony to make a call.
“Use every method you have to investigate the people named Shen Yan and Shen Hua for me,”
Having issued the order, Quan Jingwu hung up the phone, his gaze drifting towards the distant mountains.
The handwriting was identical, and the letter from the package Shen Yan sent from R Country clearly came from the same person.
No matter what, he could not let slip any clue that could lead him to her.
Suddenly remembering something, he reached into his pocket, took out the necklace, and put it back around his neck, the translucent amethyst sparkling brilliantly in the sunlight.
His fingertips slid down, gently caressing the purple jade.
My darling, I’ll put the necklace on you when you return. Don’t make me and the others wait too long!
…
“What’s going on? Wasn’t she fine just a few days ago? Why has she come down with a high fever again? How exactly are you taking care of her?” Shen Yan rushed over, his pale face marked with displeasure.
The doctors bowed their heads, trying their best to minimize their presence.
Shen Yan took a deep breath and calmed down, “What’s the situation now?”
“We’ve already taken emergency measures. The Miss’s condition has temporarily stabilized,” one of the doctors replied promptly.
“Remember, she lives, you live,” Shen Yan said coldly.
“Yes, yes, we remember,” the doctors, taken aback, nodded like pecking hens, “We will take very good care of the Miss and ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
“You may leave,” Shen Yan gestured dismissively, and the doctors scattered like frightened birds.
Shen Yan pinched the bridge of his nose and pushed the door open to enter.
Approaching the bed, he pulled over a chair and sat down.
On the bed, the woman was connected to a respirator, her beautiful face showing a sickly pallor, her hand marked with bruises from too many injections.
“Jian Qing, you’ve been asleep for so long. The people who care about you are waiting for you to return. You must recover quickly.”
The person in the bed remained unresponsive, her weak breathing making it seem as if she might slip away any minute.
“A’er, how are things with my brother?”
Standing not far away, A’er heard his question and replied, “The secret leakage has dealt a severe blow to the corporation. The eldest has been frantically occupied recently. When I returned to the island a few days ago, I saw him in a terrible rage.”
Hearing this, Shen Yan displayed no surprise.
From the moment he decided to take that action, he had anticipated this outcome, but he had no regrets. Only by doing so could he temporarily thwart his brother’s plans, preventing him from taking advantage of Jian Qing’s coma to strike at those she cared about.
However, the corporate crisis wouldn’t stall for much longer, at most another month before his brother recovered and would relentlessly pursue eradication of the Jian Family and Quan Jingwu, among others. Before then, he must do something more to delay, until Jian Qing awoke.
His gaze shifted thoughtfully, and he asked, “A’er, how’s the trade with F Country going recently?”
As his confidant, A’er quickly guessed his next move and said urgently, “Second Young Master, you can’t do this.”
The company crisis isn’t resolved yet; if the Second Young Master interferes with the transaction in F Country, the eldest won’t let it go as easily as this time.
Shen Yan knew he was worried about him, but he now had no other options, “A’er, don’t worry about me. I know what I’m doing.”
“Second Young Master, you really shouldn’t do this. The eldest will be truly furious if he finds out,” A’er persisted in trying to persuade him.
The leakage of secrets had already dealt a heavy blow to the corporation. The transactions with F Country were crucial for them. If something went wrong at this critical time, the consequences would be unimaginable.
