Chapter 929: 915, Two Scared Little Treasures (2) Chapter 929: 915, Two Scared Little Treasures (2) “Jingwu, go down and have something to eat first. Seventeen and the others need to have breakfast too, and then they have to take their medicine,” Rhee said hesitantly, not daring to bring up Jian Qing for fear of upsetting him. From what she had heard from Jian Luo and the others, Jian Qing’s whereabouts were now unknown, and his fate uncertain. Their son had always valued Jian Qing more than his own life, and now with Jian Qing missing, he was almost like a walking corpse, a puppet, completely hollowed out.

Quan Jingwu nodded lightly, and Rhee, looking at his face which had grown significantly thinner, stepped forward to help him carry the little one.

“Nineteen, come here, do you want Grandma to hold you?”

“No, I want Daddy.” Nineteen’s little head nestled on Quan Jingwu’s shoulder, clinging to him resolutely and refusing to come down.

Quan Jingwu looked at the two little treasures in his arms, meeting their bright eyes, and his gaze soften slightly as he walked out with them.

Out of the corner of her eye, Rhee saw the photo on the table and sighed softly.

“Little Qingqing, you must be safe and sound!”

Worried about the two little ones, Quan Jingwu’s father and the others woke up early, finished breakfast, and were discussing Jian Qing’s situation in the living room. Seeing Quan Jingwu coming down with the two little ones, they immediately fell silent in a tacit understanding.

“Jingwu, I’ve already prepared breakfast for Seventeen and the others. Go ahead and eat, I will feed them,” the elder Mrs. Quan said.

“No need. I can feed them myself,” Quan Jingwu responded, placing the two little ones on the couch. Thinking Quan Jingwu was leaving again, they quickly scrambled to his side to stick to him.

“Daddy, hold me,” Nineteen whined.

Quan Jingwu raised his hand and gently stroked his soft hair, then picked up a bowl, “Sit still and Daddy will feed you.”

With Quan Jingwu there, the two little ones had much better appetites and even smiled their soft and adorable smiles from time to time, much to the relief of the Quan family.

“Jian Luo, you’re here,” Quan Mingxuan said, hearing someone at the door and looking up to see Jian Luo and a few others arrive.

“Have you had breakfast? Shall I have the kitchen prepare something for you?” Rhee asked with concern.

Jian Luo waved her off, “No need to trouble yourself, Auntie, we’ve already eaten.”

He then turned to look at the two little ones on the couch and walked over.

“Uncle.”

Seventeen swallowed the food in his mouth and called out crisply.

Jian Luo curved his lips in a slight smile, reaching out to touch his forehead, “Why do you still have a slight fever? Bai Jue, come and take a look.”

Bai Jue came over and gave the two little ones a quick check, “It’s nothing serious. They just need to take a pill and rest a bit more.”

Hearing this, Jian Luo felt somewhat reassured.

He turned his glance toward Quan Jingwu and hesitated before saying, “Quan Jingwu, we will go look for my sister. You stay with Seventeen and Nineteen.”

“No.” Quan Jingwu rejected his suggestion without a second thought.

His precious treasures, he had to find them himself.

Jian Luo opened his mouth, intending to persuade him further, but Black Jack put a hand on his shoulder, “Luo, let it be.”

He understood Quan Jingwu’s feelings all too well, just like when Jian Luo himself had been kidnapped; without finding the person himself, he would never rest.

After feeding the two little ones their breakfast, Quan Jingwu had just stood up and hadn’t taken two steps before Seventeen and Nineteen slid off the couch quickly, following closely behind him on their little feet.

“Daddy!”

Having been left behind once, the two little ones were now lacking in security, always afraid that Quan Jingwu would leave them behind again.

Quan Jingwu paused in his steps as Seventeen and Nineteen caught up with him, each hugging one of his legs, pouting their little mouths, looking very wronged.

“Seventeen, Nineteen, come over to Uncle, Daddy’s going to eat,” Jian Luo signaled Black Jack with his eyes and reached out to pick them up.

Quan Jingwu turned around and gently pinched Seventeen’s cheek, “Daddy’s going to eat, I won’t leave. I’ll come back to hold you later.”

Seventeen’s eyes squinted into crescent shapes, and he obediently nodded.

Jian Luo and Black Jack carried them back to the sofa to sit. Perhaps because of sickness, the two little treasures weren’t as lively as usual and were quietly embraced by Jian Luo and the others.

“Seventeen, would you like Uncle to play toys with you?” Jian Luo looked down at the little one in his arms and cooed softly.

Seventeen shook his little head, his soft hair brushing against Jian Luo’s chin, “Uncle, Seventeen wants Mommy.”

Jian Luo’s gaze paused momentarily, and the expressions of the others stiffened.

After a while, he managed a slight curve of his lips, his voice low and hoarse, “Alright, Uncle will definitely find Mommy for Seventeen and Nineteen.”

Seventeen looked up and gave him a toothy smile.

Quan Jingwu came out after finishing his meal, and the two little ones had also finished their medicine. Jian Luo was accompanying them as they played.

“Daddy!”

Upon seeing Quan Jingwu, Seventeen immediately dropped his toys and ran towards him, pitter-pattering excitedly.

Quan Jingwu squatted down, and Seventeen barreled into his arms. He scooped him up and kissed his forehead, “Sleepy or not, hmm?”

Seventeen shook his head and pointed at Jian Luo, “Uncle, car-car.”

Quan Jingwu stroked his little face and turned his gaze in search of Nineteen, “Where’s Nineteen?”

“He was just here. Where did that little rascal run off to?” Bai Jue looked around, seeing only the toy car Nineteen had been holding, but the boy was nowhere to be seen.

Black Jack, with sharp eyes, spotted the little one peeking out from behind a column, “There.”

As if sensing everyone’s gaze, Nineteen slowly emerged from behind the column, his small, tender hand still clutching a photo frame.

“Nineteen, what are you holding?” Rhee asked curiously, as Nineteen protected the photo frame in his arms like a treasured possession, not letting anyone see.

Nineteen ran unsteadily to Quan Jingwu, a little out of breath, and said, “Daddy.”

Quan Jingwu, cradling Seventeen, squatted down as Nineteen held out the photo frame like offering a treasure, “Daddy, Mommy, there’s Mommy.”

The little finger pointed at the photo in the frame, his eyes shining as he spoke, “Mommy, Nineteen.”

Only then did everyone clearly see the photo held by the little one. The background depicted the Courtyard, with Jian Qing holding Nineteen on a swing, the sunlight perfect as it bathed mother and son, their features strikingly similar and enchanting.

No wonder the little one was holding it so tightly—it was his photo with Jian Qing.

Everyone looked at the photo, none daring to glance at Quan Jingwu’s face.

Quan Jingwu’s eyes lingered on the picture, the woman’s smiling face blooming like a flower searing into his vision, as the sweet taste in his throat became unbearable to suppress any longer.

“Puh—”

He turned his head away as a bright red trace of blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.

“Jingwu!”

Rhee and the others were startled, especially the two little ones held in Quan Jingwu’s arms. Their clear eyes flickered with terror, and they burst into tears with a wail.

“Daddy…”

Nineteen, frightened, dropped the photo frame to the ground and raised his little hands, mimicking Quan Jingwu’s way of wiping their mouths, trying to rub away the blood at the corner of his mouth.

“Daddy, scared.”

Quan Jingwu stretched out his strong arm and swept both children into his embrace, a trace of pain sweeping across the depths of his unfathomable eyes.
