Chapter 833 - 833 819 Treat You as an Outsider (1)
Chapter 833: 819, Treat You as an Outsider (1) Chapter 833: 819, Treat You as an Outsider (1) Jian Luo caught a glimpse of numerous cars parked in the courtyard out of the corner of his eye, his expression flickered slightly.
It seemed he would have to meet certain people again.
Following Uncle Qiu upstairs, they didn’t run into Zhou Qi and her group on their way. As they approached Grandpa’s bedroom, the door was open, not shut.
“Grandpa, how are you feeling? Do you want me to call the doctor to have a look at you?”
A gentle and soft female voice came from the room, Jian Qing and Jian Luo exchanged a glance and still went in.
“Master, Miss Jian and company have arrived.”
Uncle Qiu took the lead with a smile on his face.
Before his words could finish, Grandpa’s tightly closed eyes snapped open, a glint of brightness fleeted across the dull orbs.
Zhou Qi and her group directed their gaze toward the doorway as Jian Qing and Jian Luo walked in side by side, causing everyone’s expressions to abruptly turn rather unsightly.
“How did you come?” Zhou Qi, upon seeing Jian Qing, was like a firecracker touched by fire, her tone laced with a hint of explosives.
For her, accepting Jian Luo was one thing, but accepting Jian Qing was an absolute no-go.
Jian Qing and company paid her no attention, their gaze sweeping over those present, finally resting on Grandpa. They stepped forward, walking over to him.
Grandpa, upon seeing their arrival, unconsciously lifted a smile on his wan and yellowed face, and Uncle Qiu helped him to sit up in bed.
“Qing girl, you’re here.”
Jian Qing stood by the bed and saw Grandpa’s face, even more withered than before, her brows lightly furrowed, “Uncle Qiu told me you haven’t had lunch yet?”
“When you’re old, you can’t eat much. It’s no trouble.” Seeing the concern in Jian Qing and company’s eyes, Grandpa’s smile deepened.
Jian Qing turned to Uncle Qiu, instructing, “Ask the kitchen to bring up some food.”
“Yes.” Uncle Qiu glanced at Grandpa and then quickly left.
On the opposite side, An Yu and others eyed Grandpa’s attitude towards the Jian siblings, then compared it with his attitude towards themselves, the blockage in their throats hard to swallow.
They had been here for quite some time, speaking to him in low and humble tones, yet receiving hardly a pleasant look. But when the Jian siblings arrived, Grandpa suddenly became spirited, a smile appearing on his face. They were both his great-grandsons and great-granddaughters, why should they be treated so differently by him?
“Qing girl, where are Xiaojing and Yuyu?” Grandpa remembered holding Xiaojing that day, yearning deeply.
“They’re at home. If you want to see them, you can go anytime.” Jian Qing spoke warmly.
On hearing this, a spark of light flickered in Grandpa’s eyes, “Can I go later then?”
“You need to take care of your health now, let’s wait a few more days,” Jian Qing said as she looked at his increasingly frail figure, concerned.
Although Grandpa really wanted to see Xiaojing and the rest immediately, he also knew his current health couldn’t withstand the back and forth.
Jian Qing, unable to bear the fleeting look of disappointment in Grandpa’s eyes, took out her cellphone from her pocket and initiated a video call to Quan Jingwu.
In just a few seconds, Quan Jingwu appeared on the video.
“Jingwu, where are Xiaojing and Yuyu?”
Upon hearing her words, Grandpa raised his head to look at her, or more precisely, at her cellphone.
“In their crib.” On the other side of the video, Quan Jingwu spoke while moving.
The next second, the video shifted, and the delicate little faces of the seventeen and nineteen twins burst into view, causing Jian Qing to hook her lips into a smirk.
“Giggle, giggle, giggle…”
Upon seeing Jian Qing, the two little darlings instantly smiled, their chubby little hands waving vigorously.
The clear laughter emanated from the phone, making Zhou Qi and the others’ expressions turn somewhat odd. Although everyone in Beijing knew that Jian Qing had recently given birth to twins, they had never actually seen the children.
In fact, not just them, many in Beijing had also not seen the twins’ faces, thanks to the deterrent power of Quan Jingwu. Even if paparazzi managed to sneak photos, no one dared to publish them without Quan Jingwu’s permission.
Jian Qing passed the phone over, and Grandpa snatched it eagerly. As soon as he saw the two little darlings’ exquisite faces, he smiled until his whole face was wrinkled.
“Seventeen, nineteen!” he called out in a softened voice.
On the other end of the video, seventeen seemed to still remember Grandpa and bestowed a sweet smile on seeing him.
“Giggle, giggle, giggle…”
Grandpa watched the two little darlings with a face full of joy, unable to get enough of them no matter how long he looked. An Zhonghui, who was closest to Grandpa, caught a glimpse of the two little ones in the video out of the corner of his eye and a complex emotion surfaced at the bottom of his eyes.
The two little guys were so exquisitely carved that it was hard not to like them. He had to admit that even he felt the urge to give them a hug. No wonder the old Mr. Quan had been boasting about the little ones every day recently. If he were in his place, he’d probably do the same.
An Yu watched Grandpa holding the phone, beaming from ear to ear, and grew even more irritated by the children’s laughter coming from the video.
Jian Qing already had everything—her Grandpa was so powerful and influential. Why did she have to come to Beijing to compete with them for everything the An Family had? If she hadn’t come back to Beijing, maybe An Yu would have had a chance to be with Quan Jingwu. It was all her fault.
“Miss Qing, the meal is ready,” Butler Qiu said as he walked in, holding a tray in both hands.
Jian Qing nodded, looked down at Grandpa who was still engrossed in his phone watching the little ones, and gently urged, “Have some food first, we can video call them again later.”
“Hmm,” Grandpa responded with reluctance and handed the phone back to Jian Qing. His smile quickly faded when he glanced and saw Zhou Qi and the others still present.
“You all go out now.”
“Grandpa, are you asking us to leave?” An Yu asked incredulously.
Grandpa looked up at An Zhonghui, his gaze sharp as he said, “Out.”
Zhou Qi covertly tugged at An Zhonghui’s sleeve, throwing a displeased glance towards Jian Qing. An Zhonghui shook off her hand and said to An Yu and the others, “Let’s go, let Grandpa rest properly.”
“If Grandpa needs to rest, then why are they allowed to stay here?” An Yu couldn’t hold back and complained with a sense of injustice.
“Yuyu,” Zhao Xuan called her, a warning in her voice.
The long-suppressed resentment burst forth, and An Yu shook off Zhao Xuan’s hand, looking at Grandpa with grievance and anger, “Grandpa, she’s your great-granddaughter, and so am I. Why are you so biased? Jian Qing and her brother don’t even bother to call you Grandpa. They just treat you as an outsider. Can’t you see that?’
Suddenly, the surrounding area fell into dead silence.
Jian Qing remained indifferent, ignoring the glances thrown her way by Zhou Qi and others.
Grandpa’s expression darkened, and he barked in a hoarse voice, “Out.”
Tears welled up in An Yu’s eyes as she glared at Jian Qing, her gaze saturated with hatred. She wanted to say more when Zhao Xuan pulled her away.
“Yuyu, behave, let’s leave first,” Zhao Xuan said, dragging her out of the room despite her struggle.
