Chapter 811: 797, Xiao Ming’s dazzling debut (4) Chapter 811: 797, Xiao Ming’s dazzling debut (4) Jian Qing was taken back to the ward, and Quan Jingwu followed closely without ever leaving her side, not even taking the time to see the two babies.
At the break of dawn, the elder Mr. Jian and the others were sent back to rest by Quan Jingwu, leaving only him in the ward with Jian Qing.
After helping Jian Qing wipe down and change her clothes, Quan Jingwu finally made time to go see his sons, the two little bundles lying quietly beside Jian Qing, sleeping soundly.
He reached out and picked up the baby dressed in blue, his clear and bright amethyst eyes filled with intoxicating tenderness. The tiny bundle lay quietly in the crook of his arm, so light that he could barely feel the weight.
His son, a tiny spot fused from the blood and bones of both him and her.
Looking at the baby’s rosy little face, he curved his lips into a smile, lowered his head, and kissed the baby’s forehead, the gesture gentle and devout.
Lucky for him Bai Jue and the others weren’t here, otherwise they would’ve teased him. Originally, he had shown a face full of disdain for his son, but now he had learned to cherish.
After holding him for a while, Quan Jingwu put the baby down and picked up the other one, gently touching the baby’s tender little face with his hand and kissing his forehead.
“Although you’re not little cotton-padded jackets, I will still cherish you. In the future, you must listen to daddy and not fight with daddy for mommy, got it?” he whispered softly, not minding that the babies couldn’t understand him right now.
After a moment, he put the baby back beside Jian Qing and bent down to take all three of them into his arms, his lips lifting into a bright smile.
His entire world!
By the time Jian Qing woke up, it was already broad daylight.
She slowly opened her eyes, and the sight of the man asleep beside the bed entered her view. She smiled, reaching out towards his head.
With a gentle touch, Quan Jingwu immediately woke up.
He lifted his head, deep purple eyes filled with a sprinkling of surprise, “You’re awake. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere, hmm?”
Jian Qing shook her head gently, her throat felt a bit itchy, “I would like some water.”
“Hold on.”
Quan Jingwu stood up and went to rinse a cup.
As Jian Qing watched him busy himself, her lips curved, and hearing the faint sound of breathing beside her, she turned her head to look.
Upon lifting her gaze, the rosy little faces of the two babies came into view. She was momentarily stunned and then the corners of her lips rose uncontrollably.
She reached out and gently touched one of the baby’s faces, her fingertips trembling slightly.
In an instant, her eyes reddened. The throbbing from the blood connection made her unable to hold back her excitement and joy. Tears welled up in her eyes as she laughed softly.
“Babies, welcome to our world!”
It seemed as if they heard Jian Qing’s words, both of the little ones moved their crimson mouths slightly but showed no signs of waking up.
Quan Jingwu came over with the water glass and sat down beside the bed. He lifted her up and then arranged a pillow behind her for support.
Seeing her black eyes shining with moisture, Quan Jingwu rubbed her head, “Silly girl, why are you crying?”
“Xiaojing, they’re so adorable, so beautiful,” Jian Qing said with a radiant smile, her eyes falling on the peaceful slumbering faces of the two little ones.
Quan Jingwu chuckled lowly, reached out to pinch her chin, and made her look at him, “Am I as handsome as they are?”
Jian Qing burst into laughter, “Are you jealous of the babies too? Aren’t you ashamed?”
“No shame at all.” Quan Jingwu held the water glass to her lips, “Have some water first.”
As Jian Qing drank, she looked around and noticed it was just the four of them, “Where’s Grandpa and the others?”
“I told them to go back and rest, they might be coming soon.” Quan Jingwu set down the glass and glanced at his watch as he spoke.
As he finished speaking, a knock sounded at the door.
“Knock, knock, knock––”
“I’ll get the door.” Quan Jingwu tucked her in and got up to open the door.
As soon as the door opened, Rhee and others came pouring in, almost pushing Quan Jingwu to the side.
“Is Little Qingqing awake?” Concerned that Jian Qing might still be asleep, Rhee asked in a hushed tone.
Just as Quan Jingwu nodded, Jian Luo and the others dashed into the inner room.
“Sis, how are you feeling?”
“Little Qingqing, we brought you some food.”
“Aiyoyo, my little great-grandson.”
Listening to the voices from the inner room, Quan Jingwu closed the door with resignation and went in.
Upon entering, he saw the two elders each monopolizing a baby, with everyone else gathered around watching.
Rhee and Grandmother Quan were busily setting out nourishing stews and chicken soups, pulling up a small table and arranging them in front of Jian Qing.
“Jingwu, come and have some too,” Rhee called out when he saw him come in.
Quan Jingwu took a seat by the bed, picked up a bowl of chicken soup, and began to feed Jian Qing. The rich aroma of the soup wafted up; having just given birth, Jian Qing’s appetite was hearty.
“Oh, right, Jingwu, what exactly are the kids’ names?” Quan Mingxuan asked. He had left in a hurry that morning and forgotten to ask about the babies’ names.
His question was one everyone was interested in.
Quan Jingwu, focused on feeding Jian Qing, didn’t even lift his eyelids, “The elder is Quan Tianqi, and the younger is Jian Tianlin.”
Upon hearing this, everyone nodded in agreement. However, the Jingwu side of the family hesitated for a moment before their expressions softened and they looked at Quan Jingwu with friendliness.
Jian Luo couldn’t help but scoff internally. Quan Jingwu had indeed played it smart this time. They hadn’t even discussed whether the babies would take their father’s or mother’s surname, but he had already decided.
“The two babies together make a ‘Qilin’,” Quan Yifei said with a smile.
Grandmother Quan smiled, “Qilin sounds good.”
“Right, Jingwu, what about their nicknames?” Rhee was still very curious about this, and Jian Qing also looked at Quan Jingwu, waiting for his answer.
She had been asking this question for quite a while.
Under everyone’s curious gaze, Quan Jingwu calmly said, “The elder is called Seventeen, the younger is called Nineteen.”
?
Seventeen and Nineteen, are those really nicknames?
Everyone was baffled.
“Xiaojing, why call them that?” Jian Qing frowned slightly, her delicate features clouding with confusion.
“One was born at 4:35 and 17 seconds; the other at 39 minutes and 19 seconds,” he explained indifferently.
“…”
A row of crows flew overhead, casting silence all around.
Now, Jian Qing was also stunned by his words. She looked at her two babies, suddenly feeling sorry for them.
Babies, your mommy shouldn’t have let your daddy pick your nicknames; mommy was wrong.
No wonder no matter how much she asked him before, he wouldn’t say. It turned out he had this plan all along.
“I mean, Jingwu, if your son had been born at thirty-eight seconds, were you planning to nickname him ‘Thirty-eight’?” Quan Mingxuan said, barely holding back a chuckle, teasing him.
His skill in choosing nicknames was almost as bad as his Sweet Rice Dumpling and Steamed Bun.
