Chapter 780: 766, Destroyed Your Heart and Soul (1)_1 Chapter 780: 766, Destroyed Your Heart and Soul (1)_1 Shen Yan’s eyes twitched dangerously as he slowly turned to look out the window.
Since Ada had returned, his elder brother would undoubtedly find out soon enough that he had secretly aided Jian Qing. Given his brother’s temperament, he would be absolutely livid and would not let the matter drop easily.
“Young Master, the news of your covert assistance to Jian Qing will soon reach the ears of the eldest young master. Once he’s aware, he’ll undoubtedly be on his guard against you. If you ever plan to help Jian Qing again, it may not be as easy,” A’er said, looking at his figure from behind with a grave expression.
Shen Yan, his gaze lowered, enquired, “How are things with Jian Qing?”
A’er said, “Jian Qing has dispatched her private guards to Beijing. According to the information I’ve gathered, the eldest young master is using the Song Family as scapegoats, hoping to dump all the blame on them.”
Shen Yan’s lips curled into a cold smile at the corners. “How are the preparations with Dr. Kesen?”
“Young Master, are you sure about this? You can’t dare to take your life so lightly,” A’er replied, clearly conflicted.
“Dr. Kesen also said that if you undergo the surgery, you won’t be able to have another within two years, and the success rate of the surgery isn’t guaranteed either.”
A cool breeze blew, followed by an ominous chuckle.
“Hehe!”
A faint smile appeared on Shen Yan’s face, tinged with the calm acceptance of a person who had seen all that life had to offer.
He reached out to open the window and the chilling sea breeze that blew in stung his face slightly.
“A’er, I’m running out of time.”
With Quan Jingwu in a coma and his elder brother’s temper, he would take this opportunity to relentlessly pursue Jian Qing. He could protect Jian Qing once, but he couldn’t guarantee to do it a second time.
The best method would be to bet his short remaining life on a successful surgery.
If the surgery was successful, Jian Qing would be safe for a while. If it failed, he would just leave this world earlier.
For him, he had long been weary of this life.
“Young Master…” A’er opened his mouth, but he didn’t know what to say.
Shen Yan turned around, patting A’er on the shoulder. His eyes held a glint of determination. “A’er, inform Dr. Kesen that we’re going ahead with the plan.”
If he underwent the surgery, his elder brother would have no time to deal with Jian Qing for a few days. This would buy her some breathing space.
“Understood,” A’er nodded solemnly.
Shen Yan glanced at the clock on the wall. His eyes darkened. “You can go and prepare. My brother should be arriving soon.”
“Yes.”
Bowing slightly, A’er turned and left the room.
Shen Yan walked to the side of the bed and bent down to open a drawer, from which he took out a small bottle.
His gaze fell on the small bottle in his hand. Opening the bottle, there was a single yellow pill inside.
He tipped the pill into his mouth without hesitation, swallowed it, and then returned the pill bottle to the drawer, closing it.
The wind blew in, carrying the scent of flowers, filling the room.
In the silent room, the faint ticking of the clock seemed to be amplified many times over.
Tick-tock, tick-tock…
Suddenly, the door was flung open with a loud bang.
Despite the deafening noise, the man lying on the couch pretending to nap remained utterly calm, not even bothering to lift an eyelid.
Shen Hua swept his gaze around the room, peering at the figure on the couch, and stormed over aggressively.
His entrance seemed to fill the room with a suffocating pressure.
The tension was so palpable that it was nearly suffocating.
He stood over the man lying on the couch, looking down on him with a dark expression. “Shen Yan, get up,” he demanded with a cold voice that was filled with anger.
Shen Yan lazily opened his eyes, his tone mild, “Elder Brother, why are you free to visit me? Have all those documents and meetings been handled?”
His voice took on a mocking tone towards the end.
Shen Hua, greatly irritated by his carefree attitude, grabbed his collar and pulled him up. “Shen Yan, just who gave you the audacity to aid Jian Qing? Are you planning to ally with her against me? Are you determined to be my enemy?”
Looking at his furious brother, Shen Yan smirked, “Brother, I’ve already told you, harming Jian Qing is like inviting me to oppose you. And I meant it.”
Shen Hua clenched his hand, veins popping on his knuckles. He clenched his teeth and growled, “Good! Since I can’t touch you, I’ll take it out on A’er!”
Shen Yan’s expression changed slightly, “What do you mean by that?”
“What do I mean? Huh,” replied Shen Hua, his gaze turning sharp. “A’er, this traitor, dares to help you oppose me. He deserves to be punished accordingly.”
Shen Yan brushed off his hand, looking back at him unyieldingly, “A’er is my person. He is under my command. What is wrong with that? Brother, don’t forget, you were the one who handed A’er over to me. I am his master.”
“So what? Don’t forget, everything he has was given by me, his life was saved by me,” Shen Hua sneered coldly.
“If I want him dead, he cannot be alive.”
Shen Yan clenched his fist, his gaze icy as he glared at Shen Hua. “Shen Hua, dare to touch him, and you’ll see.”
“What, feeling sympathy?” Shen Hua’s lips curled into a mocking smile. His tone suddenly turned cold. “If you don’t want him dead, think clearly and put an end to your rebellious thoughts. If I find that you are helping Jian Qing again, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
The air seemed to freeze, with tension dropping to a chilling low.
The two men faced each other in a deadlock. The smell of gunpowder was thick in the air.
Suddenly, Shen Yan chuckled faintly. “Shen Hua, do you believe that you’re the only one in control of this island? Do you think W Corporation was built single-handedly by you?”
His tone was calm, as if he was chatting about the day’s weather.
Shen Hua’s gaze turned darker. “Shen Yan, what are you trying to do? Are you planning to betray me?”
“What, afraid that I’ll ruin your life’s work?” Shen Yan straightened his wrinkled collar, speaking unhurriedly.
“Shen Yan, don’t forget that it’s your life’s work too,” Shen Hua said, taking a step forward, his voice a threatening growl. “Do you really want to destroy W Corporation?”
Shen Yan paused, then chuckled. “So what if I do? Compared to Awei’s child, none of that matters. As long as you stop attacking Jian Qing, I won’t touch any of those things. But if you do harm Jian Qing again, don’t blame me for ruining everything you hold dear.”
As he finished speaking, his eyes blazed with a chilling warning. “Remember, I said everything. Everything you hold dear, including the little garden.”
“Shen Yan!” Shen Hua’s veins burst out on his forehead, his gaze pinned on him. Gathering his strength, he swung his fist towards Shen Yan’s smiling face.
The powerful wind ahead of his punch made Shen Yan’s hair flutter slightly.
Shen Yan didn’t dodge, taking the blow to his mouth without flinching.
Bang.
A muffled thud. It sounded painful.
Shen Hua stared at the blood seeping from Shen Yan’s corner of his mouth, then at his own fist, wide-eyed.
