Monopolize My Mysterious Wife -
Chapter 753 - 753 739 Encounter (3)_1
Chapter 753: 739, Encounter (3)_1 Chapter 753: 739, Encounter (3)_1 The corridor was deserted, without a single figure in sight.
She entered the elevator, her head bowed as she played with her mobile phone.
Suddenly, the notification ringtone echoed from her phone.
Opening it up, she saw images of baby clothes sent by Jian Luo.
A light swipe hauled up an endless stream of images, all about baby items.
Had these two cleared the shops in Y country, before they planned to stockpile in Switzerland?
With a “ding”, the elevator door opened.
Jian Qing put away her mobile phone, and took a step out.
“Madam!”
“Hello, Madam!”
The employees downstairs, seeing Jian Qing, greeted her respectfully.
With a slight nod, Jian Qing exited the building with an indifferent expression on her face.
As soon as she was gone, people started talking among themselves.
“No wonder the CEO is drawn to Madam. Look at that ravishing face, still so beautiful even though she’s pregnant. Aside from her belly, none could tell she was expecting.”
“Like I said, life is unfair. With an internationally famous brother and all the good things falling into her lap…”
“Let’s not talk anymore. If someone overhears us gossiping about the Madam, we could lose our jobs.”
Unaware of the whispers, Jian Qing had already reached the cafe opposite the company.
She ordered some desserts and juice, then chose a table by the window to sit down.
Soon, a waitress brought over her dessert.
Jian Qing thanked her, took a sip of the juice, its sweet and sour taste causing her to relax.
“Welcome!” The waitress’s sweet voice rang out.
“Xirou, look there.” An Yu, holding her bag, walked beside Song Xirou. When she glimpsed Jian Qing seated by the window, her smile froze.
Song Xirou followed her gaze, and her exquisite face fell immediately upon seeing Jian Qing.
Jian Qing!
“Xirou, shall we go somewhere else?” An Yu suggested in a low voice.
Even though she also detested Jian Qing, she didn’t want to cross her after what happened to Yang Xiang.
She knew she would end up like Yang Xiang if she tried to confront Jian Qing on her own; she was not that foolish.
Song Xirou sneered and said coldly, “Why should we go elsewhere? Jian Qing doesn’t own this cafe.”
Seeing this, An Yu knew better than to say any more.
Her brother liked Song Xirou, and she might even become her future sister-in-law. It wouldn’t be wise for her to create any tension between them.
Moreover, Song Xirou was right: as long as they didn’t provoke Jian Qing, there was no need to avoid her as if she were a cat running from a mouse.
“Let’s go, let’s sit over there.” With that, Song Xirou walked over and sat down at a location not far to the left of Jian Qing.
An Yu promptly followed and sat across from her.
“Xirou, would you like to come over to my house later? My brother invited you for dinner.”
She knew that Song Xirou had feelings for Quan Jingwu, but now that Quan Jingwu was married to Jian Qing, she figured that Song Xirou had to give up, no matter how unwilling she was.
Moreover, among their aristocratic families, interests were paramount, and marriage was one of the best tactics to secure it. Marrying into the Song family was a good choice for her family too.
Song Xirou gave a faint smile, her gaze falling on Jian Qing. “Sure, it’s been a long time since I last visited the old lady.”
“If you come, my brother will definitely be happy,” An Yu said.
“Xirou, have you ever had the slightest affection for my brother?”
Song Xirou laughed inwardly, but seemed shy on the surface. “An Yu, who asks such a direct question like this?”
“It’s just the two of us here, so do you or don’t you?” An Yu asked, giving a teasing smile.
“An Yu is great, but feelings need time to grow. You can’t be as direct about it as you’re asking,” Song Xirou replied quietly.
An Yu was intrigued, “So you’re saying, there’s still a chance for you and my brother?”
Song Xirou didn’t say anything, but nodded slightly.
“Miss, here’s your coffee,” the waitress brought two cups of coffee and two slices of exquisite cake.
Song Xirou lifted her coffee. As she approached the cup to her lips, her peripheral vision caught Jian Qing, a fleeting emotion flitted across her eyes.
“Jian!” The magnetic voice of a man echoed from the entrance, carrying a hint of amusement.
Jian Qing paused as she held her fork, looking up, her red lips slightly lifted.
The man had dazzling golden hair, which highlighted his deep and stunning features. As soon as he appeared, many girls in the cafe had their eyes on him.
An Yu looked at the man, a touch of surprise flashed in her eyes.
Khan?
Why was he here too?
On the other side, Khan had already come up to Jian Qing, pulling out a chair and sitting down across from her.
“Why are you here all alone? Where’s Quan Jingwu?”
It was rare for that demon to let her out alone.
“Xiaojing is in a meeting, I was bored in the office, so I came down for a walk,” Jian Qing replied, setting down her fork and sipping her juice.
Khan chuckled, “I see.”
“What brought you here, and where’s Xiya?” Jian Qing saw that he was alone and asked.
“She’s at home with Maomao, I came out to buy food for her,” Khan said helplessly. There was, however, unmistakable love in his eyes.
It was clear that he was enjoying his current life.
“Hehe,” Jian Qing smiled, teasing him, “Even the famous jewellery designer, Khan, has a day as a delivery boy. Not easy!”
“Right back at you. Compared to your other half, I still fall short,” Khan joked.
Song Xirou naturally knew Khan too. Seeing Jian Qing chat so familiarly with Khan, her jealousy towards Jian Qing deepened.
Why did all the powerful and influential people revolve around her? It was so unfair.
Looking at Khan’s handsome profile, she asked deliberately, “An Yu, isn’t that Khan?”
“Yes,” An Yu nodded.
“It seems he’s close with Jian Qing,” she said in a hushed tone.
An Yu looked away, speaking in a voice only they could hear, “Jian Qing appears to be friends with him.” She was intrigued as to who was backing Jian Qing, and what happened during the seventeen years she was absent.
Song Xirou absent-mindedly nodded, her gaze fluttering between Khan and Jian Qing.
The frequent glances from Song Xirou were hard for Khan to overlook.
“Jian, do you know those two over there?”
“Seen them. They’re just flies,” Jian Qing said casually.
She had noticed Song Xirou and An Yu as soon as they arrived, but as long as they didn’t cause trouble, she couldn’t be bothered to deal with them.
“Flies?” Khan laughed, “Your sharp tongue hasn’t changed.”
“Go buy what Xiya’s craving, or you’ll be scolded when you get home.” Jian Qing tapped the table lightly, reminding him.
Khan stood up, “I should go then. Enjoy your meal.”
“Mhm.”
Khan packed up a few desserts and cakes, paid the bill, and then left.
