Chapter 726: 712, Hiding something from them (2)_1 Chapter 726: 712, Hiding something from them (2)_1 She lifted her eyes, scanning the courtyard, her gaze suddenly stopping on a figure moving in the distance. Unsure, she said, “Mom, I think that’s Second Sister-in-law.”

Zhou Qi followed her gaze, squinting until the figure came close enough to distinguish, “Axuan, are you heading out?”

“Mm, Mom, Arong, you’re back,” Zhao Xuan replied with a small smile.

“Second Sister-in-law, we just visited sister,” An Rong said deliberately.

“Really?” Zhao Xuan’s face was calm, “How’s she been? I’ve been too busy to visit her these days, but once things settle down in a few days, I’ll visit her.”

“Perfect then, sister wanted us to relay a message to you.” An Rong smiled, her eyes closely observing for any changes in Zhao Xuan’s expression.

Zhao Xuan paused, “A message for me?”

What’s An Man up to now?

“Mm, she said there’s something she wants to discuss with you,” An Rong replied.

“Did she tell you what it’s about?” Zhao Xuan concealed her apprehension with feigned confusion.

“We don’t know, she didn’t tell us, insisted that it had to be told to you privately.” An Rong, seeing her face unaffected, was even more curious about why An Man was looking for Zhao Xuan.

Zhao Xuan tightened her grip around the purse in her hand, managing to keep her smile, “I see. Well, I’ll organize a visit tomorrow.”

“Alright, we’ve passed on the message. We won’t hold you up any longer,” An Rong said.

Zhao Xuan nodded thoughtfully and left.

“Mom, I feel that Second Sister-in-law is hiding something.” An Rong spoke softly, watching Zhao Xuan’s receding figure.

“Don’t involve yourself in her business. How’s the company doing lately, has it improved?” Zhou Qi changed the subject.

Mentioning the company, An Rong grimaced, “It’s the same, the company’s stocks keep falling. If it continues at this rate, the company may fall apart.”

Zhou Qi frowned, “How can that be? All the money invested is not enough to solve the company’s financial crisis?”

“Quan Jingwu is constantly suppressing our company. Other groups in Beijing are afraid to help us. I believe it’s all Jian Qing’s doing; she’s clearly aiming to destroy our company.” An Rong said through gritted teeth.

“We should go inside. I’ll see if I can find Grandpa and ask him to help,” Zhou Qi said resentfully, her hatred for Jian Qing growing.

“Mom, I’m counting on you,” An Rong said emotionally.

Zhou Qi patted her hand, her brows creasing with worry.

A black sedan left the An Family mansion, heading for the suburbs.

Zhao Xuan hit the brakes, her body leaning forward from inertia.

She gripped the steering wheel tightly, her face grim.

What does An Man want to talk about? Why is she looking for her all of a sudden?

What could there possibly be to talk about between the two of them?

“Damn it, what could it be?” She slapped the steering wheel in frustration, her eyes flashing a cold glint.

Could it be…?

Her pupils constricted, and a chill ran up her back.

No, she couldn’t possibly know.

She shook her head forcefully, trying to cast out the terrifying guess.

No one should know about that incident.

That person promised her. No one would ever know.

Gradually, Zhao Xuan calmed down, her grip on the steering wheel loosening.

“Haha!”

A cold laugh echoed in the car, growing louder.

“No matter who it is, none of them stand a chance against her; none.”

An Man better not know about that incident, otherwise, even if she wanted to spare An Man, she might have no choice but to act.

Deep into the night, the wind scattered the dark clouds, revealing the clear moon.

The soft moonlight slipped through the curtains, pouring a smattering of light onto the two entwined figures in the bed.

In the dim light, the woman lay asleep, head nestled in the man’s arm. His other arm was wrapped around her waist, a protective posture.

Feeling restless, the woman opened her eyes slowly with sleep still in them.

She lifted her gaze, looking at the man’s handsome face. Nudging over carefully, the man opened his eyes immediately, their depth reflecting specks of starlight.

He glanced at the woman in his arms, lips parting to ask, “Is something wrong? Are you uncomfortable?”

His husky voice echoed in the room.

“Xiaojing!” Jian Qing looked up at him, an apologetic look in her eyes.

She’d woken him again.

Quan Jingwu reached for the remote on the bedside table, turning on the crystal chandelier, the darkness in the room instantly dispersing.

He sat up, asking softly, “Do you want some water?”

Blinded by the sudden light, Jian Qing shielded her eyes, squinting in adjustment.

She nodded, Quan Jingwu promptly slid off the bed.

Looking at the man not too far off refilling a glass of water, a smile graced Jian Qing’s lips.

Under the light, the man returned with the filled glass. Clad only in pajama pants, his chiseled chest glistened enticingly, it was hard to look away.

“Come here.”

Quan Jingwu sat on the edge of the bed, extending his hand toward her.

Jian Qing grasped his hand, moving closer, she drank from the glass he held.

Having finished her water, Quan Jingwu placed the glass back down. Almost instantly, a fair hand touched the back of his. He turned and looked at her. Their eyes locking, she beamed, her smile melting his heart.

He chuckled, reaching out to pinch her rosy cheek.

“What are you looking at me for, trying to seduce me?”

Jian Qing laughed lightly, “Of course not, don’t flatter yourself.”

“Then, can I seduce you?”

“No,” Jian Qing replied, still laughing.

“So, Madam, are we going to have a staring contest till dawn?” Quan Jingwu teased.

Jian Qing held his hand, a light in her eyes, “Xiaojing, I’m hungry.”

“What do you want to eat?” Quan Jingwu asked indulgently. “You only had a bit for dinner. Now, you’re hungry, silly.”

She pondered a moment before her eyes lit up, “Pizza.”

“Pizza?” Quan Jingwu looked at her quizzically.

“Yup.” Jian Qing nodded furiously.

Looking at her pointy chin, Quan Jingwu still nodded his agreement. If she was willing to eat, let it be pizza.

He picked up his phone, dialing a number.

“Send a pizza over to the old mansion.”

Jian Qing watched him hang up, she wrapped her arms around his neck, quickly pressing her lips to his before pulling away.

Quan Jingwu grinned, his hand ruffling through her hair.

“Stay here and don’t get up, I’ll go get it.”

“Ok, remember to put on your jacket.” Jian Qing handed him the robe lying at the foot of the bed.

Quan Jingwu stood, slipped on the robe, then took a jacket from the closet. He put it on as he headed out of the room.
