Chapter 694 - 694 680 Running in the Rain (1)_1
Chapter 694: 680, Running in the Rain (1)_1 Chapter 694: 680, Running in the Rain (1)_1 The spring rain is gradually drizzling, and the mist shrouds the air.
In the early morning, an airplane lands in the manor.
Jian Qing steps out of the plane, looking at the courtyard enveloped in the morning fog, a faint smile tugging at the corners of her rosy lips.
She stretches, her gaze languid.
On the turf, her gaze is drawn to two figures running not far away. She arches an eyebrow slightly and tugs at Quan Jingwu’s arm.
“Xiaojing, look how diligent others are, even running in the rain.”
Following her gaze, Quan Jingwu glances at the two people running towards them, his lips part slightly. “My dear, if you didn’t linger in bed, we could do that too.”
Since being with her, his early morning exercise habit has all but disappeared.
Jian Qing smiles awkwardly.
She decides to pass on early morning jogs – they really don’t suit her.
As they chat, Black Jack and Jian Luo have already reached them. Jian Luo pants, slightly breathless, while Black Jack seems unaffected, his face as composed as ever.
“Sis, why are you here so early? Didn’t you say you wouldn’t be back until tomorrow?” Jian Luo’s cheeks are slightly flushed from the run, and he looks surprised to see Jian Qing.
“There wasn’t much to do over there anymore, so we came back early.” Jian Qing glances at the matching tracksuits on both men, chuckling. “You two running in the rain is quite romantic.”
“Running in the rain? We were just caught in the rain on our way back from our run. Bad luck,” Jian Luo grumbles.
He blames Black Jack. Why did he have to drag him along for the run? Didn’t he know that disturbing others’ sleep is wrong?
Jian Qing couldn’t help but laugh at their soaked clothing: “You two should go change. We’ll wait for you in the dining hall.”
Quan Jingwu takes the umbrella and they walk away. Black Jack playfully smacks Jian Luo on the head, saying, “Stop enjoying the rain, let’s go back.”
Even though he didn’t use much force, Jian Luo glares at him, retorting, “You have the nerve to talk. If you wake me from my nap later, you’ll pay for it.”
Having said that, he rushes off, his slender figure disappearing into the misty rain, with Black Jack following closely behind.
The two of them freshen up and head to the dining hall, only to be met with an unexpected public display of affection. Jian Luo hesitates, unsure of whether to enter or to leave.
Jian Qing pushes Quan Jingwu away and catches sight of the two intruders out of the corner of her eye. Her eyes flicker, her rosy lips gleaming, she clearly knows what just happened.
However, embarrassment doesn’t seem to be a thing for Jian Qing.
She glances at the two frozen at the door and says nonchalantly, “What are you standing there for? Are you watching us eat?”
Jian Luo clears his throat awkwardly and pulls Black Jack into the room.
“Sis, you’re three months pregnant already but there’s no sign of a bump at all,” Jian Luo comments, comparing Xiya’s pronounced baby bump to Jian Qing’s still flat stomach, as he bites into a slice of bread.
“It should probably show around the fourth month,” Jian Qing replies.
“Bai Jue said that at four months into the pregnancy, the baby’s gender can be determined,” Jian Luo states, flashing a pointed look at Quan Jingwu.
It will soon become clear if they’re having a cherished daughter or not.
“There’s no rush regarding that. We’ll be happy whether it’s a boy or a girl.” Seeing Jian Luo’s gaze shift to Quan Jingwu from time to time, Jian Qing suppresses her laughter.
It seems the whole world knows of her husband Jingwu’s deep obsession with having a daughter. What if the check-up reveals it’s a boy? Will Jingwu’s heart break?
“That’s easier said than done. If you have a son, I’m sure someone will be devastated,” Jian Luo teases with a sly grin.
A son would be perfect – it’d serve Jingwu right, and he and Black Jack wouldn’t have to worry about their heir.
Killing two birds with one stone.
Quan Jingwu puts down his chopsticks, lifts his eyelids, glances at Jian Luo and Black Jack who are eagerly anticipating some drama, and snorts, “Whether it’s a son or a daughter, they’ll be ours, why are you so bothered?”
“I am the baby’s uncle, it’s very normal for me to care.” Jian Luo huffs, turning to look at Jian Qing, smiling, “Sis, after the baby is born, I can help you babysit. If you’re busy just send the baby to me and Black Jack, we will make sure he or she grows up healthy and chubby.”
However, if Jian Luo could have foreseen the future, he probably would never have made that offer.
Jian Qing chuckles, “Sure, when it comes to that, Jingwu and I can go travelling, and you two can take care of the baby.”
Jian Luo smiles wryly.
Halfway through the meal, Mo Xiao arrives.
“Dad!”
Facing his precious daughter, Mo Xiao always wears a fatherly smile.
He sits down next to her, and pats her head: “Why didn’t you tell Dad when you came back? I would have asked the kitchen to prepare more food for you.”
“You don’t need to trouble yourself, I can’t even finish what’s here,” says Jian Qing.
Mo Xiao picks up his chopsticks, looks at Quan Jingwu and Black Jack, his face darkening again. Father-in-laws seem never to be satisfied with their sons-in-law.
Jian Luo and Jian Qing share a smile and keep their heads down, quietly eating.
As for the ongoing feud between father-in-law and sons-in-law, it’s best for the siblings to stay out of it.
After breakfast, Mo Xiao takes Quan Jingwu and Black Jack to the ranch, citing the need to improve their relationship. However, everyone knows his true intent.
Jian Luo sprawls on the couch, awkwardly rubbing his belly, feeling a bit queasy.
“Luoluo, did anything interesting happen on your trip to Y Country?” Jian Qing asks, looking at the figure lying on the sofa, a smile tugging at her lips.
Jian Luo recounts the events of Elder Pavilion while rubbing his belly, his half-closed eyes suggesting he’s on the verge of sleep.
Jian Qing notices his continuous rubbing of his belly, and laughs, “Did you eat too much?”
“A bit.”
Jian Qing looks outside at the clear skies, not a single speck of cloud in sight. She gestures at Jian Luo.
He opens his eyes and looks at her, “Where are we going?”
“To do pottery.”
Jian Luo frowns, “Why do you suddenly want to do pottery?”
They haven’t done pottery in years, their skills surely rusty by now.
“I’m taking you to burn off some food.” Jian Qing kicks his foot gently and hurries him, “Come on, let’s sneak out and have fun while Jingwu and Black Jack are not around.”
Upon hearing this, Jian Luo’s eyes light up, forgetting that his stomach is feeling bloated, “Can we have ice cream?”
Black Jack, that miser, always throws away his ice cream the day after he buys it, wasting food.
Jian Qing smirks without saying a word.
“If you don’t leave now, not even the smell of ice cream will remain.”
Jian Luo quickly gets up and grabs the car keys. The siblings happily leave the house together.
