Chapter 683: 669, Please Hit the Road (3)_1 Chapter 683: 669, Please Hit the Road (3)_1 Her gaze was cold, and when she turned around, there was a touch of detachment in her smile.
“I heard Huizi was injured, so I came to see her. I heard Huizi left the palace late at night, what was she up to? How did she end up so wounded?”
Ito Mie’s face hardened, her eyebrows knotting, “Huizi is just naughty. Even with an injured hand, she went mountain climbing with friends and accidentally fell down.”
“Oh, is that so?” Ito Yukiko lightly touched the red rose in her hand and looked at her with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile. “Going mountain climbing late at night, Huizi really is too playful, that’s quite dangerous isn’t it.”
Ito Mie gritted her teeth in secret hatred, but a smile still lingered on her face, “You’re right, Yukiko. Once she wakes up, I will certainly reprimand her.”
Ito Yukiko hummed in agreement, her feet firm on the ground, seemingly without any intention of leaving.
“Yukiko, the doctor still needs to treat Huizi, why don’t you step out for a moment?” Ito Mie suggested, patience straining.
Ito Yukiko responded with a faint smile, “Treatment, I don’t think that’s urgent. There’s a matter that we need to sort out first.”
“You…” A wave of inexplicable panic washed over Ito Mie, “Yukiko, what do you mean by that?”
Seeing her feigning ignorance, Ito Yukiko scoffed, her eyes sweeping toward the servants in the room, “All of you, leave.”
“Yes.”
Within moments, the servants, along with the doctor, had left. Only Qianhe remained at Ito Mie’s side.
“Yukiko, Huizi’s injuries are severe, we can’t delay her treatment. What exactly are you trying to do?” Displeasure flashed in Ito Mie’s eyes.
“What am I trying to do?” Ito Yukiko threw the rose in her hand onto Ito Mie, her expression ice-cold.
“Ito Mie, I, Ito Yukiko, am sure I never wronged you or Ito Huizi in any way. Yet you and Huizi have been plotting against me at every turn, even going so far as to kidnap me and order attempts on my life. You are so incredibly malicious.”
Ito Mie’s expression changed, her body barely perceptibly trembling. Qianhe lowered her head, trying to make herself less noticeable.
Ito Mie posed as the elder party, feigning grief, “Yukiko, where are these accusations coming from? You must not trust the false words of others and casually accuse me. Remember, I am your elder. Your attitude is disrespectful.”
“Hmph!”
Ito Yukiko cast her a cold glance, took a thick envelope from her sleeve, and threw it at her.
“At this point, I don’t want to waste words with you. These pieces of evidence can prove that you tried to hurt me last night. Ito Mie, you won’t be able to escape this time.”
Ito Mie moved her gaze away with difficulty, looking down at the envelope by her foot, her fingertip trembling slightly.
“Your Highness!” Qianhe reached out to support her, whispering, “Keep calm. You still have your maternal family behind you.”
With Qianhe’s reminder, Ito Mie glanced at her. A touch of resolve flashed in her eyes. After taking a deep breath, she regained her composure.
She bent down, picked up the envelope, opened it, and saw several pictures of the men she had sent to capture Ito Yukiko. The men were dressed in black, and each of them had her maternal family’s unique totem tattooed at the base of his neck.
Clutching the photos, she looked up at Ito Yukiko, her tone mocking, “What do these photos prove, Yukiko? Even if you go to your father, he won’t take my position because of these photos. Don’t forget the importance of our Suzuki Family to your father.”
A greenhorn like her wanted to compete with her? She wasn’t qualified.
“Ito Mie, do you think I would confront you here without an ace up my sleeve?” Ito Yukiko replied calmly.
Ito Mie: “What do you mean by that?”
“Ito Mie, do you really think you’re that important?” Ito Yukiko glanced at her dismissively, and said coldly, “Do you think you are more important to our father than the partnership with the Jian Family and JK International? Losing you would merely mean the Suzuki Family loses a daughter. As long as they continue to support the Royal Family, their benefits can only increase, not decrease. Do you really think they’d be foolish enough to oppose the Royal Family because of you?”
In the relationships between the Aristocratic Family and the Royal Family, only benefits matter.
“Ito Yukiko, you…” Ito Mie narrowed her eyes, staring hard at her: “Don’t try to scare me, Takahashi would never listen to you; he wouldn’t.”
“You’ll find out soon enough,” Ito Yukiko sneered, “Enjoy your day of putting on airs as a noblewoman. After today, I’m afraid neither you nor Ito Keiko can remain in this palace.”
She understood her father’s tactics more than anyone else; the removal of a no longer useful pawn was inevitable, regardless of who it was.
Seeing the conviction on her face, Ito Mie finally lost her composure. She glared at Ito Yukiko with malice in her eyes, “Are you really forcing me into a corner?”
“Me, forcing you?” Ito Yukiko burst into laughter, then her face became stern, she shouted, “It’s ridiculous. Ito Mie, since you entered the palace, what harm have I done to you? From the very beginning, it has always been you who disliked me. You’ve plotted against me countless times to ensure Keiko becomes the crown princess. You make your own tally. I put up with you again and again, yet you want to send me to my death. Can I still put up with you?”
Ito Mie took a step back; in her eyes the reflection of the woman’s imposing manner. She couldn’t help but recall the woman who had passed away, Ito Yukiko’s mother.
Having achieved her purpose of coming here, Ito Yukiko had no desire to stay any longer. She gave the mother and daughter one last glance before leaving.
Ito Mie collapsed to the ground, her eyes vacant, while Qianhe-mammy squatted down to support her, “Mistress, you need to hold up.”
“Qianhe, what should I do? What should I do?” Ito Mie gripped her hand, asking frantically.
“Mr. Nakamura!” The servants called out.
Ito Mie jolted, Nakamura?
She quickly turned her head, her face falling when she saw the trays carried by the attendants next to Nakamura.
“Mistress, it’s time to say goodbye!” Nakamura glanced at Ito Keiko lying on the bed and said, emotionless.
Ito Mie looked at the cup of clear wine he presented, her pupils contracted.
“No, I won’t.”
She crawled up, disregarding Ito Keiko, and tried to run.
“Grab her!” Nakamura ordered.
Ito Mie was seized by both arms; she shook her head fervently as the poisoned wine approached, and her neatly combed hair became a mess as the ornamental hairpin fell.
“No, I want to see Takahashi, no, Nakamura, I want to see Takahashi…”
Nakamura ordered, “Make her drink.”
“Yes.”
An attendant held the poisoned wine, gripped her jaw, and poured it directly into her mouth. He only let go when she had finished.
“Cough, cough––”
Ito Mie coughed until she was red in the face, her complexion quickly turning pale. She fell to the ground with a thump, her body convulsing.
Qianhe-mammy crawled to her side, clenching her hand and shouting loudly, “Mistress, Mistress!”
“It hurts…” Black blood dripped from the corners of Ito Mie’s mouth. Due to the intense pain, she curled up in a ball. In a short while, her head tilted, and she breathed her last.
