Chapter 643: 629, A Comedy of Errors (3)_1 Chapter 643: 629, A Comedy of Errors (3)_1 “You never stop setting examples.” Zhan Ze tapped her on the head, laughing.
Did that mean he had agreed?
Zhan Mingyan squinted her eyes in amusement, nodding energetically.
With her own father stepping in, she no longer needed to worry about her grandfather.
“Alright, it’s getting late, and your mother is still waiting.” Zhan Ze stood up, saying.
“Let’s go quickly or else your mom will start nagging again.”
Zhan Mingyan stood up, saluting, “Yes, sir.”
Zhan Ze couldn’t help but shake his head with a laugh, putting on his coat.
Footsteps echoed in the quiet corridor.
“Axuan, I’ve arrived, which private room?” Bai Jue had a phone in one hand and his other hand in his pocket. A dazzling earring on his left ear added a dash of rebelliousness to him.
“OK, I’ll be there shortly.”
After hanging up the phone, Bai Jue lowered his head to look at his cell phone.
Not far away, the door of the private room opened, and Zhan Mingyan came out arm in arm with Zhan Ze. Whatever she said made Zhan Ze continually laugh.
“You naughty girl, you’re rather clever.”
“Doesn’t it show your remarkable teaching?” Zhan Mingyan flattered.
As the old saying goes, flattery will get you everywhere.
Why does this voice sound so familiar?
Bai Jue stopped scrolling on his phone and looked up.
The next second, the woman’s captivatingly beautiful face appeared before his eyes, and then his gaze shifted toward the man next to her, causing his eyes to darken momentarily.
Almost simultaneously, Zhan Mingyan also looked over.
Their gazes met in mid-air, making the atmosphere somewhat subtle.
Zhan Mingyan, arm in arm with Zhan Ze, froze in her tracks.
Why is he here?
Did he arrange to meet a woman?
It was not surprising that Zhan Mingyan thought so, given that she vividly remembered the scene in Dihao where Bai Jue was embracing beauties on both sides.
“Yanyan, what’s wrong?” Zhan Ze noticed the change in his daughter, stopped walking, looked at her, and asked.
Zhan Mingyan was lost in thought, and for a moment, she didn’t hear Zhan Ze; her gaze fixated on Bai Jue.
Zhan Ze followed her gaze and was slightly bewildered when he saw the man standing there.
He touched Zhan Mingyan, asking, “Yanyan, is that your friend?”
“Sort of,” Zhan Mingyan murmured, coming back to reality.
“Zhan Mingyan, what a coincidence – we meet again,” Bai Jue put his phone back in his pocket, his thin lips curling into a roguish smile, breaking the silence between them.
Zhan Mingyan hummed in agreement, her grip around Zhan Ze’s arm growing tighter from the tension.
Little did she know that this behavior would be misinterpreted by Bai Jue.
His eyes briefly looked at Zhan Ze, then he beckoned Zhan Mingyan, his voice low. “Zhan Mingyan, come here.”
Zhan Mingyan looked at him skeptically, let go of Zhan Ze, and walked over to Bai Jue.
Bai Jue glanced at Zhan Ze out of his peripheral sight and leaned in to whisper to her, “Zhan Mingyan, your pursuers certainly span a wide age range. Last time it was He Min, and now it’s an older man. You’re quite lucky in love. I guess I don’t have to play your shield this time.”
Zhan Ze watched the two whispering, furrowed his brow, and strained his ears, trying his hardest to eavesdrop.
Zhan Mingyan blinked, mouth agape in surprise.
Bai Jue, the bastard, was there something wrong with his eyes or his brain?
Did he just mistake her father for a suitor?
What did he think of her? Was this how he saw her?
Teeth gritted in anger, she pushed Bai Jue away, “You’re right, he is the man I love most in the world. What does it have to do with you? Back off.”
Behind her, Zhan Ze was touched by his daughter’s unexpected confession.
Indeed, he had not spoiled his daughter in vain.
Zhan Mingyan turned around, holding Zhan Ze’s arm again, and gave Bai Jue a fierce look, snorting lightly.
“Old Zhan, let’s go.”
Zhan Ze was completely lost, quickly looked at Bai Jue, and was pulled away by her.
“Mingyan, Uncle, how come you all are here too?” Just as they started to walk away, they bumped into Quan Mingxuan, who was looking for Bai Jue.
“We’re having dinner here.” Zhan Mingyan said.
“Have you finished? Would you like to join us?” Quan Mingxuan invited.
Zhan Mingyan turned her head and shot Bai Jue a sideways glance, “No need. We’ve finished already. Plus, I certainly don’t wish to eat with a certain dimwit. That would lower my IQ.”
“What do you mean?” Quan Mingxuan caught the innuendo in her words and asked with amusement.
“It’s nothing. We’re leaving now. See you next time.” Said Zhan Mingyan, pulling Zhan Ze with her as they left, appearing irate, leaving Quan Mingxuan quite puzzled.
A short distance away, when Bai Jue heard Zhan Mingyan’s words, his face went dark.
Is he the dumb one?
Watch out, Miss Runway, you’re on my list now.
“Bai Jue, I was wondering why you hadn’t arrived yet. The private room I mentioned is in the right corridor. How did you end up here?” Quan Mingxuan spotted Bai Jue and hurried over.
“Wait, did you bump into Mingyan just now?”
“That silly woman – she’s been like a time bomb today.” Bai Jue muttered.
Quan Mingxuan chuckled, “Did you upset her just now?”
Bai Jue has a similar personality to Han Yue, both are good at making sarcastic remarks. No wonder Mingyan was so on edge just now; it must have been his doing.
“Who was provoking her? It’s not like I have nothing better to do.”
“Don’t bully her though, her Dad’s right there. Uncle Zhan only has this one precious baby girl. If you bully Mingyan, Uncle Zhan will fight you for her.” Quan Mingxuan teased.
Her Dad?
Bai Jue’s face changed, reaching his hand out to stop Quan Mingxuan.
“Wait.”
Quan Mingxuan looked at him puzzled, “What’s the matter?”
“What did you just say?”
“What?”
Quan Mingxuan was even more confused.
“The man with Zhan Mingyan earlier, is he her Dad?” Bai Jue’s lips twitching.
Quan Mingxuan nodded, bemused. “What else could it be? Didn’t you see him the night you drove her home?”
Bai Jue was at a loss.
This is awful.
No wonder she was as angry as a poked tiger. He had misunderstood.
“I only saw her mother that night.”
Quan Mingxuan glanced in the direction where Zhan Mingyan and Zhan Ze had left, then looked back at Bai Jue, figuring out what had happened.
“So what did you do earlier?”
“I thought he was her boyfriend, so I made a few sarcastic remarks about her.” Bai Jue sighed reluctantly.
“Pfft–”
Quan Mingxuan burst out laughing.
He patted Bai Jue’s shoulder, laughing so hard, tears started forming.
“Bai Jue, I must say, I’m amazed.”
This guy was a real character, even more so than Han Yue.
Mistaking Uncle Zhan for Mingyan’s boyfriend. No wonder she was so angry, so this is what had happened.
This is so amusing, just too amusing.
Bai Jue shot him a look, shaking off his hand.
“Are you still my buddy? Who would’ve thought a father and daughter could look so different.”
Quan Mingxuan, bending over with laughter, replied, “Mingyan takes after her mother. Who knew you would have such a wild imagination to mistake someone’s father for their boyfriend.”
