Chapter 607: 593, He rushed over right at twelve o’clock (3)_1 Chapter 607: 593, He rushed over right at twelve o’clock (3)_1 The flurry of the relentless snow showed no sign of stopping, as the cold wind gusts through, chilling to the bone.
After having their New Year’s eve dinner at the Quan family’s home, the distinguished Jian family returned to Shijin Haoting.
Having taken a midnight flight to Beijing, and busying themselves the whole day, the head of the Jian household retreated to his room to rest early, while Mo Xiao went out for a drink with Quan Hao and others.
The flickering lights brightened up the living room, making it feel somewhat deserted.
“Thump, thump.”
The sound of knocking woke up the person dozing off on the sofa. He sprang up from the sofa, running to open the door.
As the door opened, the chilly snowflakes sneakily made their way in.
Jian Luo gave a shiver, wide awake as the drowsy feeling disappeared instantly.
“Well, isn’t this a warm welcome?”
A proud smile flashed across Bai Jue’s handsome face as he flicked off the snowflakes from his body.
Seeing that it was him, a hint of disappointment flashed through Jian Luo’s eyes.
“Hey, hey, hey, don’t be so obvious about it. Your disappointment makes me feel awfully unwanted,” Bai Jue complained.
He was disappointed that a certain someone hadn’t arrived yet, was it necessary for him to seem so upset at the sight of him?
Jian Luo, downcast, turned and walked back into the room. Bai Jue shut the door behind him and followed.
“Black Jack might not be here until tomorrow’s flight. You should go wash up and get some rest,” Bai Jue advised.
“Weren’t you going to the bar?” Jian Luo dodged his comments and asked.
“It’s too cold, I decided not to,” Bai Jue removed his coat, heading upstairs, “I have been so exhausted these past few days, I’m going to sleep.”
JianLuo glanced at the clock on the wall. It was two minutes to midnight.
He had hoped to wish him “Happy New Year” in person, but it seemed that he won’t be able to do so.
He hung his head, the smile at the corner of his lips vanished.
“Thump, thump.”
The knock on the door rang again.
Could his father be back?
Jian Luo walked towards the door without any expectation, but the person who appeared at the doorway turned out to be the one he was longing for.
The man outside the door was panting slightly, his breath a bit chaotic. Even though it’s mid-winter, sweat was trickling down his forehead.
Jian Luo’s pupils shrank, his eyes reflecting a surge of joy.
“You…”
He had only begun to speak when he was abruptly tugged over, and then wrapped securely within a strong pair of arms.
“Happy New Year, Luo Xiaobai!”
The man’s husky voice echoed in his ears, causing a smile to creep up to the corners of Jian Luo’s lips.
He reached out to embrace him in return, smiling, “Happy New Year, Black Jack!”
“Ding.”
The delicate sound of the clock chimed, the hands of the clock pointing precisely at midnight.
Black Jack released him, his gaze soft, “I finally made it.”
“Where have you been? Why are you so late?” Jian Luo pulled him into the house, shutting the door to keep out the cold wind.
“Car broke down on the road and couldn’t get a cab, so I decided to run over here. Thankfully, it’s not far or else I wouldn’t have made it.”
“Idiot, couldn’t you have called me? I would have picked you up,” Jian Luo brushed off the snow on his clothes, ridiculing him.
Black Jack pulled out his phone from his pocket and passed it to Jian Luo, “Battery’s dead.”
“…”
Jian Luo was left speechless.
Could this be considered him being unlucky? His car broke down and his phone was dead.
“Have you eaten yet?”
Black Jack, “I ate on the plane.”
After answering, he furrowed his brows at the sight of Jian Luo’s attire.
“Why are you dressed so lightly? If you catch a cold, who’s going to take care of you?”
Jian Luo’s eyes shone brilliantly, continuing his sentence, “You will.”
Black Jack helpless glanced at him. He had him wrapped around his little finger, didn’t he?
“Let’s go, I’ve prepared a room for you. Go change and don’t freeze to death.” Jian Luo took his coat, walking him upstairs.
“Where’s Bai Jue?” asked Black Jack.
“He just got back and went straight to his room to sleep.”
“How is Jian Qing doing?”
“He’s okay, Bai Jue said he would be discharged from the hospital in a couple of days.”
Their voices echoed in the silent corridor.
“Here, this is your room.” Jian Luo opened the door, but made no motion to enter. “I’ve placed a few sets of clothes in the closet.”
“Where are you staying?” Black Jack glanced at the room, then at him, asking.
Jian Luo responded, “Next door.”
“Then I’ll go to your room to shower.”
Without giving him a chance to object, he strode into Jian Luo’s room.
The room was bathed in a warm, yellow light, adding a touch of allure to the atmosphere.
In the bathroom, the sound of running water abruptly ceased.
The next moment, the bathroom door swung open, and a man wearing a loosely tied bathrobe stepped out, the robe failing to conceal his beautifully shaped body.
Jian Luo glanced back upon hearing the noise, and his eyes inadvertently met the sight of the man’s bare chest.
Before he could register the sight, Black Jack had already appeared in front of him.
“Lost for words?”
A magnetic voice tinged with amusement echoed beside his ear.
Jian Luo snapped back to reality and glared at him, “You’re the foolish one.”
He pushed him away and walked over to the bed, picking up a dry towel to throw at him.
“Dry your hair and goback to your room to sleep.”
“Are you rejecting me like this?” Black Jack caught the towel and casually dried his wet hair. His deep blue eyes bore into Jian Luo, their heat almost unbearable.
Jian Luo shot him a glare and pushed him out.
“Hurry up, I’m exhausted.”
Black Jack halted, turning around to grab his hand.
“I rushed here through the snow, and you’re in a hurry to get rid of me?”
Jian Luo felt his hair stand on end under his gaze and awkwardly smiled, “Well, I didn’t ask you to come, did I? Who told you to be so unlucky, with your car breaking down and phone battery dead.”
After saying that, he tried to walk away but was caught by the wrist, and when he raised his eyes, he met the man’s penetrating gaze, leaving him a little flustered.
“Luo Xiaobai.”
He softly called him, to which he unconsciously hummed in response. Unexpectedly, he was suddenly pulled into a tight embrace against the wall.
“Black Jack, what, what are you doing?” His ears turned faintly red, his words tripping over themselves.
Black Jack leaned against the wall beside him, looking down at him.
Perhaps the room was too warm, as Jian Luo’s fair skin was faintly flushed. The enticing sight of Jian Luo’s cherry lips made his gaze even more intense.
“Luo, where’s my New Year’s gift?”
“What …?” The heat spread from his ears to his cheeks. Jian Luo averted his eyes.
From childhood to adulthood, he was always the one giving him more gifts. It was rare for him to actively ask for a gift.
“I gave you a New Year’s gift, don’t you think you should return the favor?” Black Jack brushed aside the loose strands of hair on his cheek, following with a kiss.
Jian Luo’s body trembled, as if a surge of electric current had surged through his body.
“You haven’t given me a New Year’s gift this year, don’t talk nonsense.” He placed his hand on his chest, creating a distance between them.
Black Jack chuckled, grabbing his hand and placing it on his chest, slowly saying, “This heart and me, we both belong to you.”
“This couldn’t be the New Year’s gift you mentioned, could it?” Jian Luo’s lips quivered.
