Chapter 1028: 1013, Jue and Zhan’s Couple Extra (12) Chapter 1028: 1013, Jue and Zhan’s Couple Extra (12) Bai Jue got home nearly at eleven.

After a shower, Zhan Mingyan just happened to call.

“Little Yannyan, missed me?” Bai Jue sprawled onto the bed, his bathrobe coming loose, exposing a swath of his honey-colored chest.

Zhan Mingyan snorted, “Why didn’t you answer your phone just now?”

“The battery died, just got back.”

His deep voice was slightly hoarse with a rasp.

“Have you been drinking?” Zhan Mingyan astutely noted something off about his voice.

Bai Jue openly admitted, “Yeah, had some wine with Black Jack and Jian Luo.”

Jian Luo was the weakest drinker, getting tipsy after just a couple of glasses.

“So, have you sorted out your business?” Zhan Mingyan asked.

Bai Jue chuckled softly, “What, missing me?”

“Psh, as if I have time to miss you. My grandpa was asking when you’ll be back to play chess with him, and reminded you not to forget the fine wine you promised him,” Zhan Mingyan retorted with her cheeks heating up slightly.

“Little chili pepper, I’m craving the dishes you cook,” Bai Jue suddenly said.

Zhan Mingyan’s lips curved into a smile, her voice softening, “If you miss it so much, hurry back then.”

Delighted with this rare display of tenderness, Bai Jue was grinning from ear to ear, his heart sweetened, “You’ll cook for me when I’m back?”

Zhan Mingyan hummed a soft yes.

“You know, little chili pepper, you’re the cutest when you’re gentle,” Bai Jue boasted, unable to restrain his teasing.

“Go to hell,” Zhan Mingyan’s face darkened.

He simply couldn’t be spoiled.

The lights were bright, as the two people across the ocean jokingly argued, turning it into a little romantic act.

Having learned of Bai Jue’s residence, Fang Xue brought Lena to visit.

“Mom, is this where Brother Bai Jue lives?” Lena looked at the exquisite villa before her, her heart stirring.

This villa seemed far more luxurious than their own home. How wonderful it would be if she could live here.

Fang Xue nodded lightly, “Mm.”

It appeared that after she had left, the Bai family hadn’t declined but flourished instead. If Bai Jue could afford a villa here, he must be earning quite a lot.

The internationally renowned Ghost Doctor; boasting about it would certainly bring her, his mother, great prestige.

Thinking this, Fang Xue’s face brightened with joy and pride.

She pressed the doorbell then straightened her hair and clothes.

Before long, a plainly dressed middle-aged woman opened the door.

“Who are you?”

“We are here to see Brother Bai Jue, I’m his sister, and this is my mom,” Lena said quickly.

The middle-aged woman paused, her eyes filled with suspicion as she examined them, “I have never heard the young master mention his mother or sister before. Are you sure you’ve got the right person?”

Fang Xue’s face stiffened, her grip tightening around her expensive handbag.

“What are you talking about? Look carefully, my mom and Brother Bai Jue resemble each other quite a bit.” Spoilt by indulgence usually, Lena couldn’t control her arrogant temper upon hearing a servant dare to question her.

“I apologize, I didn’t mean anything by it,” the middle-aged woman said with a slight smile, giving Fang Xue a thorough look, and indeed she found a resemblance to Bai Jue.

“I’m sorry, but Mr. Bai is not at home, and I don’t have the authority to let you in. Maybe I should call Mr. Bai first.”

At this, Lena became anxious. Bai Jue had never been fond of them—if he found out, how could she possibly gain entry?

With that thought, she pushed the door open and barged in without any regard.

“Hey, Miss, you can’t go in there,” the middle-aged woman said urgently, grabbing Lena’s wrist.

“Let go of me,” Lena shook her off, showing displeasure. “Who are you to stop me? Be careful, or I’ll tell Brother Bai Jue to have you fired.”

Fang Xue followed inside. Having struggled in the upper circles for so long, she had developed a keen eye for luxury goods. Seeing all the famous-brand decor around the room immediately set her mind racing with calculations.

“Mom, all these things are so pretty,” Lena said, sitting on the sofa and picking up an ornamental piece from the table, unable to resist toying with it in her hands.

“Mom, come sit over here,” Lena called.

Watching the mother and daughter take over the sofa, the middle-aged woman’s face showed difficulty. She picked up her phone and quickly stepped outside to call Bai Jue.

“Mom, I’m going to check upstairs,” Lena said.

She swiftly surveyed her surroundings, her eyes flashing with greed.

“Lena, we shouldn’t do this. We still need Bai Jue’s help, and it wouldn’t be good if we angered him,” Fang Xue said nervously, still shaken by Bai Jue’s fierce demeanor the day before, trying to restrain Lena.

“It’s fine, I’m just going to take a look upstairs, I’ll be right down,” Lena replied, brushing off her mother’s hand and hurrying upstairs.

Upon entering the master bedroom, Lena glanced at the photo on the desk and instantly guessed it must be Bai Jue’s room.

She quickly looked around the bedroom, then made her way to the walk-in closet and pushed the door open, her eyes widening in amazement.

This was practically shopping paradise.

In the closet, each series of clothes was organized by season and color. Most were from the brand San Yue, and the rest were limited editions from top international designer labels.

Even the wristwatches, cufflinks, and other accessories were all highly valuable.

Lena’s eyes gleamed with avarice as she looked at the wristwatches in the cabinet, wishing she could reach through the glass and claim them for herself.

Although she had been raised in luxury since childhood, she had never bought such an expensive watch, and it was nearly impossible for her to get her hands on the limited editions from San Yue, not to mention custom-made ones.

So, her Brother Bai Jue was this wealthy.

Downstairs, Bai Jue received the call and hurried back, his expression ominously dark.

“Mr. Bai!”

The middle-aged woman waited at the door, greeting Bai Jue as his car approached.

“Mr. Bai, I tried to stop them from going in, but they forced their way through. I…”

Bai Jue closed the car door, “Go back home for now, and come to clean tomorrow.”

“Yes.”

Hearing the sound of the car engine, Lena hurried down from upstairs.

“Mom!”

She ran to Fang Xue’s side just as Bai Jue walked in.

“Bai Jue, I made you some soup. You’ve come back just in time; drink it while it’s hot,” Fang Xue eagerly offered, holding up the food container she had brought, with a broad smile plastered on her face.

“Who let you in?” Bai Jue looked at the sofa, noting the imprint left behind, and the carpet under their feet, asking with icy contempt.

Fang Xue stiffened, her smile forced, “Bai Jue, you looked so tired recently, I wanted to help nourish you.”

Bai Jue said, “Get out.”

“Brother Bai Jue, no matter what, I’m still your half-sister. Mom has missed you so much, and even if she did something to upset you, she is still your mother. You can’t be so cold and heartless,” Lena pleaded meekly.
