Chapter 83: Chapter 83: You little brat, Grandpa cares about you so much...
The gates of the villa where the elder of the Galan Estate resides in River City slowly opened.
Neal Galan appeared, dressed in a light blue tailor-made shirt, black trousers, with a long coffee-colored trench coat draped over.
His features were handsome, a bit roguish, excessively refined, as if crafted by an artisan, meticulously carved and polished with a professional tool.
He was tall, imposing, with striking good looks and a calm with a hint of maturity.
Yet, he was like a wolf, domineering everything in the world.
As soon as Neal appeared, the servants and bodyguards inside the villa immediately lowered their heads.
"Young master, you’re finally back." At the same time, a middle-aged woman came out of the villa.
With a delighted smile on her face, she approached Neal while speaking, "Young master, the old master has been longing to see you, and has finally gotten his wish."
"Yes, Auntie Red, I’m back." Neal took off his coat and handed it to the middle-aged woman before him, then asked, "Where’s Grandpa?"
Auntie Red took the coat from Neal, smiling as she said, "The old master is in the back garden."
"Alright, I’ll go see him." Neal said, striding towards the back garden with his long, straight legs.
In the back garden of the villa, an elderly man with a head full of silver hair was sitting calmly in a wheelchair.
He stared ahead, lost in thought, his murky eyes unfocused.
Neal approached, kneeling beside the elder, and respectfully spoke, "Grandpa."
Hearing the voice, the elder turned his head slightly.
A dry, wrinkled hand reached out excitedly, as if wanting to touch Neal’s face, but hesitated as if afraid it might break, cautiously asking, "Alston, is it really you?"
Neal nodded, placing the elder’s slightly trembling hand on his own cheek, "Grandpa, it’s me, I’ve really come back."
Feeling the real touch of his precious grandson’s cheek, the elder laughed heartily.
It was truly his grandson; he really had returned, not just a dream.
But in the next moment, the elder’s smile vanished. He glared at Neal with a stern face, "You mischievous boy, Grandpa dotes on you so, and yet you only now come to see this old man."
Having said that, the elder’s spirited eyes searched around for something, then looked back at Neal and asked, "Where is she?"
Neal was puzzled, "Who?"
"Don’t play dumb with me!" The old master glared at Neal, speaking earnestly, "Alston, it’s good that you’re back, but where is my granddaughter-in-law? Where have you hidden her?"
"..." Neal was speechless.
Though he did have someone in mind for marriage, the girl has yet to agree, so what’s Grandpa getting so excited for?
Besides, if Melody agreed, he wouldn’t need to hide her; he would have brought her to see the old man long ago.
Neal looked at the elder, putting on a hurt, pained expression, "Grandpa, I just got back, and you don’t even care for your grandson, but you immediately ask for a granddaughter-in-law? Grandpa, if you’re like this, I’ll be really hurt, you know? Can’t you first have a good look at me, before bringing up anything else?"
The elder frowned, his eyes suddenly bright with understanding, looking knowingly at Neal, "The reason I wanted you back was to see the granddaughter-in-law, what’s the use of seeing you? You rascal, haven’t you settled things with your granddaughter-in-law yet?"
Neal rubbed his forehead, "Grandpa, are you sure I’m your real grandson? That stings."
The elder continued blustering, "Nonsense, if you weren’t my real grandson, why would I bother with you! You useless boy, you haven’t settled your granddaughter-in-law yet, what a failure! How dare you come back to see this old man in such a state?"
Neal stood up, feigning to leave, "Grandpa, if you’re going to say that, I’ll just leave first."
The elder picked up a cane beside him and forcefully struck the ground, "You dare, boy!"
Neal paused, "Grandpa, I haven’t even left yet."
"Hmph, I thought so." The old man, proud, glanced at Neal before continuing, "Little rascal, let me tell you, now that you’re back, you have to stay in River City! Unless my granddaughter-in-law comes to redeem you and gives me a great-grandchild, don’t think about leaving River City!"
Neal retorted, "Grandpa, you’re being unreasonable. I returned with good intentions to see you, how can you restrict my personal freedom like this? Besides, your granddaughter-in-law needs to be pursued step by step, and even if she agrees now, a great-grandchild isn’t going to appear immediately."
"You rascal, dare say Grandpa is unreasonable? Grandpa is the law, what reason do you need! Grandpa is just going to restrict you, what are you going to do about it? Still talking about slowly pursuing a granddaughter-in-law? If you’re any slower, the granddaughter-in-law will become someone else’s! Grandpa doesn’t care about all that, you have to let Grandpa hold a great-grandchild, it’s non-negotiable!"
Watching his grandfather suddenly act unreasonably, Neal fell speechless.
Neal remained silent, but the old man continued speaking.
"How can you be so useless, call your father back for me! He always ran far away since he was young, didn’t care for this old man, and now he’s led you all astray, none of you are filial, where’s my great-grandson?!"
The elder grabbed his cane, ready to strike, "You disobedient kids!"
"Grandpa, I just returned! Don’t hit me!" Neal shouted as he ran away.
Just as he reached the door, he encountered Oliver Nash with a cold face.
Neal’s handsome face immediately turned dark.
His brown eyes looked coldly at Oliver, his voice was flat, "Back?"
Neal’s questioning made a hint of delight appear in Oliver’s brown eyes.
However, knowing Neal wouldn’t be pleased, he quickly suppressed that delight.
"Yes," Oliver nodded lightly, looking at Neal, he asked calmly, "You’re here too, Neal?"
Neal said nothing, walked past Oliver, and went straight to the dining room.
In the dining room, the servants had already prepared a sumptuous dinner.
Neal sat down in the dining room, and Oliver followed closely, seemingly intentionally or not, sitting across from Neal.
Not long after, the old master, pushed by Auntie Red, also entered and took the main seat.
"Everyone’s here, let’s eat." At the old man’s command, the two began to eat.
At the dining table, from time to time, the old master chatted with Neal, filling the atmosphere with laughter and joy.
