Chapter 71: Chapter 71 After all, he is the baby’s biological father...
But she couldn’t cry, couldn’t let the tears in her eyes fall.
Melody Parker changed into her house slippers and bent down to pick up Benjamin Parker.
She looked at Benjamin, her face full of warmth and loving kindness, "Bone soup? Did Barrett make it?"
Benjamin shook his head, "No."
Melody’s smile broadened, "You made it?"
Benjamin nodded, "Yes."
Suddenly being picked up by Melody made Benjamin a bit embarrassed and shy, yet at the same time, deliriously happy.
Recalling Barrett’s message today, Benjamin immediately spoke up, "Mommy, you should put me down, I’m heavy. Holding me like this will tire you out."
"Nonsense, holding my precious makes Mommy not feel tired at all." Melody held Benjamin, placing him on the sofa to sit down.
Her gentle eyes looked at Benjamin, imprinting a kiss on his forehead, "Sweetie, Mommy loves you."
Benjamin held Melody’s head in his hands, returning a kiss on her cheek, "Mommy, I love you too."
After saying that, Benjamin got up and instead pulled Melody, who was standing there, to sit on the sofa, "Mommy, wait a moment, I’ll go get you some soup."
Saying this, Benjamin’s small figure ran towards the kitchen.
Looking at that figure, the tears Melody had hidden for so long finally fell silently.
Benjamin, you are the source of Mommy’s strength.
As long as you’re here, Mommy is blissful.
Because of you, Mommy became strong, unafraid of anything, bravely moving forward.
When Benjamin came back with the simmered bone soup, the tears in Melody’s eyes had completely disappeared, and her face showed no traces of having cried.
Benjamin handed the bone soup to Melody, staring at her with starry eyes, "Mommy, try it, is it good? Is it salty?"
Melody took a sip, "Delicious, exceptionally delicious. Sweetie, your cooking skills are better than Mommy’s, the taste is just right, not salty at all."
Benjamin smiled, a little shy, "Mommy, if it’s good, you should drink a little more."
"Okay."
Under Benjamin’s gaze, Melody drank the bone soup spoonful by spoonful, only stopping after she had half a bowl, feeling too full to continue.
"Sweetie, Mommy just ate before coming home, and now I’m so full!"
Melody looked at Benjamin gently, asking, "Sweetie, shall we keep the bone soup simmering in the pot, and Mommy promises to finish it all tomorrow, alright?"
"Okay." Benjamin took the soup bowl from Melody’s hand, "Mommy, rest, I’ll take the bowl to the kitchen."
When Benjamin put the soup bowl in the kitchen and came out, Melody was already standing at the kitchen door.
"Mommy, didn’t I tell you to wait? Why did you get up?" Seeing Melody, Benjamin asked, dissatisfied.
Melody laughed, rubbing Benjamin’s little head, "Sweetie, it’s so late, Mommy can’t just sit on the sofa endlessly, I need to rest."
After saying that, without waiting for Benjamin to speak, she gently continued, "Sweetie, go to sleep."
"Okay," Benjamin nodded, "Mommy, you should rest early too."
"Alright." Melody nodded, and she and Benjamin went to their respective bedrooms to rest.
Melody was truly exhausted, her head always feeling foggy and uncomfortable; not long after returning to her room, she fell into a deep sleep.
What she didn’t know was that while she was asleep, a small figure sneaked into her room.
Afraid of waking Melody, Benjamin entered without making a sound, gently lifting the silk quilt, and lay down beside her.
Looking at Melody’s slightly pale sleeping face, Benjamin felt heartache beyond words.
He leaned close to Melody, planting a kiss on her cheek, whispering silently.
Melody, sweetie will never let you suffer again; it’s time to find you someone to rely on.
Melody, do you know, even if sweetie owns billions, they wouldn’t compare to you alone.
But Melody, who should sweetie find for you to rely on?
Is it Neal Galan? Or Adrian Davies?
Benjamin turned, his dark eyes staring at the ceiling, making a decision in his heart.
Yes, perhaps starting with Adrian Davies.
After all, he is sweetie’s biological father.
...
In Europe, Adrian had settled everything early, preparing to board a flight back to River City, to the place with that little wildcat.
He had been away for more than a week.
This long, the little wildcat’s image was always in front of him.
Making him miss her, making him gnash his teeth in frustration.
That heartless one, he had been gone for so long, yet she hadn’t contacted him proactively.
Not answering his calls! Not adding him as a friend on social media!
Even blocking him completely.
Watch how he would teach her a lesson when he returned.
As eager as Adrian was to return, he hadn’t forgotten Daniel, who came to see him off.
On the private airstrip, Daniel’s small figure stood there.
Behind him stood a dozen impeccably dressed bodyguards.
The private plane’s propellers roared loudly.
Adrian looked at Daniel, "Daniel, go back, in two months’ time, Daddy will come to fetch you and great-grandma."
Hearing Adrian’s words, Daniel nodded lightly, "Alright."
After that, he turned around and left without saying another word.
Adrian looked at those dozen bodyguards, giving a cold command: "Protect the young master well."
"Yes!" They responded in unison, following closely as Daniel left.
Adrian watched as Daniel climbed into a stretch Lincoln, observing as the car and bodyguards departed, before turning to board the private plane.
The plane took off, heading towards River City.
Shortly after boarding the plane, Adrian received a call from Ned Faris, "President, the information you asked Locke and me to find about Miss Parker has been sent to your email, along with her recent situation."
"Alright." Adrian replied coldly, hanging up the phone.
Ending the call with Ned, Adrian immediately opened his laptop and checked his email for the information Ned sent.
Reviewing the sent information, Adrian’s already cold face grew darker still.
A chilling aura emanated from him, causing the cabin’s temperature to drop, as if the air itself would freeze.
She lost her mother at birth.
Her biological father was indifferent to her, her stepmother abused her, and her sister bullied her.
He could never have imagined Melody would have such a background.
Although Melody was Ava Parker’s sister, and he was Ava’s fiancé, he never paid attention to Ava, nor her family.
