MMORPG: War God, You are Invincible Again
Chapter 83 - 81 - : Divine Calamity

Chapter 83: 81 Chapter: Divine Calamity

The Iron Lord had clashed with Audron for no less than hundreds of rounds, his battle armor as hard as iron unwavering under Audron’s fierce assault without a single flaw.

"You can’t beat him, let me do it!" The War Lord roared from within at this moment. Although the Iron Lord could not lose, he couldn’t win either. Dealing with the master of a thousand battles was more suitable for the best of their class.

"No, if we switch you in, that little wench will use soul spells to attack us again, without the defense of the Iron Fortress we won’t hold on!" Bodo refused the War Lord’s suggestion.

"Then continuing like this will lead to no results!" The War Lord said discontentedly, though Audron was strong, the Iron Lord still had a Holy Artifact in hand. Even if the master of a thousand battles had the advantage over defensive classes such as the Wall of Thick Earth, the Iron Lord with a Holy Artifact wouldn’t lose.

"What’s there to fear, if we just hold out, can he really win?" The Iron Lord was unconcerned as well. His strength might not have increased as quickly as when Bodo took the lead, but it was still slowly rising. Once he broke through the Third Transition limit, even with the occupational disadvantage, Audron was bound to be defeated.

"That’s right, we just need to wear him down until he’s done for." Bodo also greatly agreed with the Iron Lord’s idea.

"Fine, then let’s keep this standoff going." The War Lord retracted his consciousness with slight dissatisfaction; after all, he was the only one who hadn’t controlled the body up to now.

"Damn it." Audron grew more frantic as the battle raged on, the opponent’s Holy Artifact allowed every near breach in defense to be repaired immediately, leaving no real impact.

Moreover, with the ongoing attrition, Audron’s offense was not as fierce as it had been at the beginning.

"You’ve slowed down, Audron," the Iron Lord also sensed the opponent’s strain, smashing his shield hard and pushing Audron back several steps.

"Spear of the Soul!" Lai Li had downed several vials of precious recovery elixirs, barely returning to the level of power of the Third Transition.

As a transparent spear flew towards him, the Iron Lord casually blocked it with his shield: "It’s useless, my defense can block attacks of all types."

"Soul Rip!" Lai Li didn’t believe in giving up, she gathered all her strength in a desperate attempt to break through the Iron Lord’s defenses and grab his soul.

Moments later, Lai Li let out a scream, covering her eyes which now bled tears, and she collapsed to the ground; it seemed she hadn’t succeeded.

"Lai Li!" Lu Hong rushed to support Lai Li, his heart immensely anxious at this point. Audron and Lai Li were fighting desperately, yet there was nothing he could do. Possessing only the power of the First Transition, Lu Hong could hardly step into the battle between Audron and the Iron Lord.

He would likely be torn to shreds by the shockwaves of their Fighting Spirit if he only approached the periphery of their battle.

Why must I always be so powerless at these critical moments!

Why!

Lu Hong roared inwardly, but it seemed that the heavens did not care much for him, granting no miracles.

"Die!" At last, the Iron Lord’s power broke through the Third Transition limit, a burst of multicolored Divine Light piercing the gray sky to shine upon him.

With the breakthrough in power, there was a substantial change in the Iron Lord’s Fighting Spirit, as if it carried some mysterious rule. Audron’s defense was like a block of tofu, easily sliced apart, and more than just Lu Hong’s greatsword was severed upon impact; Audron’s right arm was cut off as well.

The armless Audron posed no further threat; the Iron Lord kicked him away and looked up at the falling multicolored Divine Light.

"Is this the moment of Divine Enthronement? I feel a mystic call summoning me." The Iron Lord gazed enraptured at the alluring Divine Light, his eyes gradually becoming obsessed.

"Is he going to ascend to godhood?" Lai Li’s eyes, spoiled from the backlash of Soul Rip, were practically ruined, with little chance of recovery in the short term.

"Do I really have to miss this sacred moment before my death?" Lai Li had resigned herself, now regretting that she could not witness the grand scene of Ascension at her life’s end.

"Yes." Lu Hong gave a bitter smile, knowing full well that once the opponent attained godhood, they certainly wouldn’t spare them. But he could try for the best outcome, perhaps persuade the adversary to spare Lai Li’s life. His own fate was sealed, that much was certain.

"Ascend to godhood! Ascend to godhood!" Bodo and the War Lord roared incessantly within, their furious cries filling the whole world.

As the Divine Light grew thicker, the Iron Lord’s body levitated into the sky, the mystical force coursing over him, further transforming his Fighting Spirit.

"Let me come out, you’re too slow!" Bodo struggled to take control of the body, but the Iron Lord refused to relinquish his dominance: "No need for you, I can do it."

"Get out of the way! Let me!" At this point, the always-repressed War Lord joined the struggle for control over the body.

With their battle for dominance, the soul fusion started to fracture, the heavenly Divine Light seemed to fade, and the progress of Divine Enthronement began to reverse.

"Get back inside!" Ultimately, as the body’s main holder was Bodo, who held absolute dominance, he suppressed the souls of the other two in one fell swoop and reclaimed control.

With Bodo regaining control, the Divine Light began to converge once again.

"Is this Divine Power? Hahaha!" Feeling the change in his inner strength, Bodo laughed wildly: "Audron, do you see this? This is Ascension, the path you couldn’t finish is actually so simple, you’re truly a waste!"

"Give up now! Otherwise, you’ll die!" Audron, clutching his severed arm, issued his final warning to Bodo.

"Never!" Bodo bellowed, his body visibly swelling at a frenzied pace, and in the blink of an eye, he had transformed into a giant over ten meters tall.

But just then, an immense finger descended from the sky, mercilessly bearing down on Bodo.

"This is the Divine Trial? Watch me cleave it apart!" Bodo summoned the Blood Holy Sword, wielding both swords as a massive blood-red cross soared skyward, colliding fiercely with the descending colossal finger.

But the seemingly unstoppable blood-red cross had barely touched the finger before it dissipated without a trace like snow in spring sunlight.

"How is this possible?!" Bodo was well aware of the strike’s power, his face turning extremely unsightly in an instant.

"I refuse to believe that I can’t shatter you!" Bodo roared at the finger, summoning countless blood pythons to strangle it.

Still, there was no change; no matter how Bodo attacked, he couldn’t inflict the slightest harm on the finger.

"My turn!" the suppressed Warlord bellowed incessantly from within: "In terms of attacking power, who among you is stronger than me?"

Seeing that his every desperate effort failed to harm the adversary, Bodo clenched his teeth and relinquished control to release the Warlord.

Upon successfully taking over, the Warlord waved his hand, and the War Holy Sword fell into his grasp.

With the Holy Sword in hand, the Warlord crouched slightly, as silver-grey Fighting Spirit surged around him.

"This is the ’Ultimate Flash’." Lu Hong recognized the Warlord’s intention. The ’Ultimate Flash’ was the strongest skill of the Legion of Thousands, capable of cleaving through any Skill, save for those of the Heavenly God tier.

If only Audron had had a chance to charge up before, the Iron Warlord’s defense might not have seemed so impenetrable.

As the colossal finger loomed closer, the Warlord slowly swung the Holy Sword in his hands.

Without warning, as the sword fell, the entire heavens and earth seemed to stand still, the giant finger frozen mid-air.

Moments later, a sword light that pierced through the heavens slashed through the sky, revealing the chaos beyond the realm.

In the face of such an awe-inspiring attack, only a fine line of blood appeared on the enormous finger.

"How... is this possible?" At that moment, all the confidence of the Warlord was shattered. That was his strongest Skill!

"Is ascending to godhood truly this difficult?" the Warlord muttered, his eyes devoid of life as he watched the relentless descent of the giant finger, filled with despair.

"Don’t give up! We will succeed!" The Iron Warlord roared, "If we can’t break it, let me defend. I’ll withstand its assault."

In an instant, the Iron Warlord regained control of the body, but by now the finger was a mere three inches away.

Without having been in command before, his perception of the finger had been simply large and sturdy. But only when he faced the finger head-on did he truly understand its immense strength.

It could obliterate an entire plane of existence!

The Iron Warlord was not exaggerating; thus, he regretted it. Could he really withstand an attack capable of destroying a plane?

The answer was no.

"No! I don’t want to die!" The Iron Warlord prostrated and desperately tried to flee, but no matter where he ran, the finger continued its inexorable descent above him.

Seeing the Iron Warlord wailing in his attempt to flee, Bodo and the Warlord howled from within: "What are you running for?! Defend!"

"Can’t defend, absolutely can’t hold! We’ve failed, we won’t become gods," said the Iron Warlord, utterly broken. He closed his eyes in the face of the impending colossal finger, accepting his death.

Time slowly passed, and the man who should have died was miraculously still alive.

What happened?

The Iron Warlord abruptly opened his eyes, to find the previously despair-inducing finger was gone without a trace.

The scene seemed to stir a memory in Audron who, with a bitter smile, said, "You have failed."

"I’m not dead?" The Iron Warlord, ecstatic to be alive, exclaimed, "I’m not dead!"

"But you are about to die." Audron followed up, "You did not withstand the Divine Trial."

"Shut up! As long as we are not dead, we will surely ascend!" The Iron Warlord roared at Audron, "Shut your damned mouth, or I’ll kill you right now!"
