Chapter 513: Chapter 1 National Celebration
A month later, the news of victory spread throughout the Star Sea.
Decades of war had finally ended, and the Holy Divine Empire now commenced a grand celebration ceremony.
Yet, at this grand victory banquet, there was little sign of jubilant joy.
Every face bore an inexplicable sadness; all of the empire’s soldiers, those mighty individuals who participated in the final battle, would never forget the colossal blood-colored giant that spanned the sky, nor the heroes who perished completely for the Human Race.
"Your Majesty!" an elderly imperial official trembled as he left his seat and knelt before Konstantin.
"My Lord He, please rise quickly. If there is anything you wish to discuss, you may speak freely." Konstantin treated this aged official with great respect, for he was a vital minister in charge of the people’s livelihood, something the empire desperately needed to restore its national power after years of war.
"The old official boldly requests a noble title from Your Majesty."
"But speak, Lord He," Konstantin, having some inkling of Lord He’s intentions, did not refuse.
"I hope Your Majesty would grant a posthumous noble title to an imperial hero, granting him the majesty of a Divine Power and listing him among the ranks of the Dukes!"
Konstantin took a deep breath, looked toward the assembly of ministers and duke seats, and said solemnly, "Gentlemen, I believe you are already aware of whom Lord He wishes to posthumously nominate as the imperial hero."
"Your Majesty!" At this point, Marshal Xie also stood up and knelt before Konstantin: "The old official also petitions, to posthumously appoint Duke Divine Might to Tu Kuru!"
"Your Majesty, the old official petitions,,,,,,"
"Your Majesty, the old official petitions,,,,,,"
"Your Majesty, the old official petitions,,,,,,"
In an instant, all the important imperial officials willingly petitioned, and those military officers also silently knelt, expressing their stance through their actions.
Granting Lu Hong the title of Duke was a foregone conclusion for Konstantin, and he certainly wouldn’t refuse. However, the name "Divine Might",,,,,
was no ordinary dukedom. It was a title established by the Sacred Empire from ancient times, not hereditary because of its location—the heartland of Divine Grace.
The autonomy of the Duke was very significant; they could administer internal affairs within their territories. Moreover, they had military freedom. A prominent Duke, like Soto, could refuse the empire’s commands without consequence, mainly because of his significant power, which even the empire itself couldn’t easily contest.
Such territory within the empire’s homeland, once given out, was an absolute risk; thus, aside from the initial three generations of Divine Might Dukes, the title was never again mentioned until now.
Today’s mention caught Konstantin by surprise, but upon reflection, it wasn’t impossible to grant, especially since Tu Kuru was his own nephew and was no longer a threat to the empire now that he was dead.
After a moment of reflection, Konstantin agreed: "Since all ministers are unanimous in their opinions, the empire will issue a decree today, proclaiming throughout the Star Sea, appointing Tu Kuru as the Empire’s Duke of Divine Might!"
The decree was issued, and a hero’s tombstone was erected outside the fortress.
Friends and family who knew Lu Hong gathered there.
Particularly the women, Danni and Lando’s eyes were red, silently standing in front of Lu Hong’s tomb.
While Anna had already fainted from crying, Nightingale was also very silent.
Vili gently caressed Lu Hong’s ceremonial burial mound and sighed, "Who would have thought that what should have been resolved by the seven of us ultimately fell upon his shoulders."
"Why didn’t you execute the decapitation plan? Why did it have to be Lu Hong who dealt the final blow? If he hadn’t forcibly used that last sword, he would never have died!" Provoked by Vili’s words, Lando grabbed Danni’s collar and coldly questioned her.
"It’s our fault,,,," Danni didn’t argue, her tone filled with sorrow, allowing Lando to rebuke her.
"What exactly happened?" The old Priest stepped in to stop the furious Lando, then turned to ask the Brahman.
"Alas," the Brahman sighed and began, "The Naga Queen was severely injured, true, but she activated a Secret Technique, drawing in the Orb of Tides, not only fully restoring her strength but even gaining a further enhancement."
"Indeed, had it not been for that, we wouldn’t have been defeated. The seven of us together nearly perished at sea," Absolute Shadow looked at Lu Hong’s tombstone and said solemnly, "We all owe him our lives!"
"What good is owing, if you can’t repay it?" Lando scoffed, "I believe Tu Kuru must have warned you, to be extremely cautious. Once you realized the Naga Queen’s strength was overwhelming, why didn’t you retreat immediately? Although the seven of you couldn’t defeat a demigod, with Vili present, escaping shouldn’t have been a problem."
"It was our greed." Vili said somberly, "Defeating the Naga Queen to end this war was our ultimate goal. We were anxious at the time, and by the time we realized it was going poorly and thought to retreat, we discovered the Naga Queen had already covertly sealed off the sea area, making spatial teleportation impossible,},
forcing us into a desperate battle."
"Hehe!" In Lando’s view, had it not been for the Seven Towers’ reckless pursuit of honor, Lu Hong would not have had to fight against the Sea of Blood with all his might and he would not have sacrificed his life to save them in the end.
After mocking, Lando turned around and left; she had utterly detested the Seven Towers, particularly Danni, believing it was they who led to Lu Hong’s death.
Lock Fan and others did not engage in such conversations about the powerful, silently leading Lai Li to kneel before the tombstone before rising to leave.
Bai Shi, Yin Feng, Gouzi, and other close friends also expressed their sentiments of remembrance.
The news of Lu Hong’s death quickly spread across Star Sea, naturally reaching the Sacred Realm as well.
The Hall Master of the Force God Temple frowned slightly, feeling great regret.
At this moment, Elder Niu rushed over: "Hall Master, there is still hope for saving Tu Kulu!"
"Really?" The Hall Master of the Force God Temple was taken aback, "The person has completely disintegrated, how can he be saved?"
"That depends on whether you, Hall Master, are willing."
For the Force God Temple, Lu Hong was a promising seedling that could potentially restore the former glory of the temple, but the cost of resurrecting someone who had died was likely enormous.
"How exactly can he be cured, explain it to me."
Elder Niu explained: "This individual had achieved unprecedented combat records at the third trial. I consulted the ancient records in the temple, which mentioned a legend concerning this trial."
"What legend?"
"That of a reward from the War God himself! The legend says the reward is ’blood resurrection’!"
"That’s intriguing!" Meng Hong shook his head helplessly, "Does the Force God Temple still have his fresh blood?"
"Indeed," Elder Niu nodded, "The will hidden by the Inner Heavenly God in the third trial has already extracted the individual’s blood, according to ancient texts, this drop of blood should reside within the third trial’s divine orb."
Meng Hong furrowed his brow slightly, then summoned the illusory image of the divine orb, his divine soul probed inside, and indeed he found a drop of blood brimming with life!
"Is it truly so?!" exclaimed Meng Hong, then asked Elder Niu, "How great is the cost to resurrect him?"
"At least the divine trial needs to be closed for a hundred years..."
"A hundred years?" Meng Hong nodded, the main tool to revive him would likely involve a vast amount of divine source crystals.
Whether there would be another Force God prodigy like Lu Hong in the next hundred years was uncertain, trading a hundred years of prosperity for Lu Hong’s life, Meng Hong truly felt reluctant.
"Hall Master, this decision is entirely up to you." Elder Niu had no right to decide the future of the Force God Temple, then bowed and stepped back.
Meng Hong did not respond, standing with his hands behind his back, muttering to himself.
A peerless genius, a hundred years of Divine prosperity, which was more important was... truly a tough choice!
Ten days passed, and Meng Hong remained undecided.
Thus, time slipped away, and three years hurried by; Elder Niu no longer brought up the matter, and the topic of reviving Lu Hong seemed deliberately forgotten.
Suddenly one day, a little girl holding a huge ancient bronze sword appeared outside the temple, seeking an audience with Hall Master Meng Hong.
"Let her in," Meng Hong summoned the little girl, and the two talked for a full hour.
Afterward, the little girl was escorted to the side courtyard of the temple to reside there.
Then after a long while, Meng Hong stepped out and called for Elder Niu.
"Hall Master, may I know the reason for summoning me?"
"Immediately close the Force God Path and announce a hundred-year lockdown."
Elder Niu was taken aback, he thought Meng Hong would not bring up the matter again: "You... You?"
"Yes, prepare, I want to resurrect the Empire’s godly Duke!"
