Chapter 501: Chapter 255: The Return of the Brahman
The Sea of Divine Grace was truly vast, and just traveling from the Western Sea to Red Marsh took more than ten days.
Since the Octopus Overlord was still at the bottom of the Red Marsh, Lu Hong couldn’t go down, so he had to crush the token given by the other party to summon the great octopus from the seabed.
"How did you escape from the fused plane?" The great octopus was very surprised. "Did you wipe out the entire sea tribe?"
"I encountered a noble person, who not only resolved the seal but also saved some friends along the way."
The great octopus wasn’t interested in Lu Hong’s experiences. Since the opponent had contacted the seal, the demon beasts trapped in the depths of Red Marsh could be completely freed.
"My race of demon beasts owes you a favor. If you have any requests in the future, just ask." Having said that, the great octopus dived into the seabed and disappeared from sight.
After completing the task, Lu Hong also returned to Jinrui City. Now, with the Naga Queen seriously injured and Caesar’s combat power unharmed, it must be a good opportunity to eradicate the sea tribe.
But when Lu Hong returned to the empire, he discovered that Caesar had fallen ill and left, disappearing once again.
"Did he give back the Holy Emperor Sword?" Lu Hong asked Konstantin.
Konstantin shook his head. "I’ve asked him three times, and he has refused every time. The last time I asked, Caesar just left, and I couldn’t do anything about it."
After all, Caesar was a Tower Master-level expert. If he chose to leave, who could stop him? Furthermore, with the Holy Emperor Sword in hand, his combat power could match that of a demigod.
"Alright then," Lu Hong nodded and then conveyed the peace period of three years told by the Lightfish to Konstantin. Even if Caesar had left, the empire was not without the power to fight.
"Do we really have to fight?" Konstantin was somewhat worried. Although the empire currently received a huge amount of support, it didn’t guarantee a certain victory.
"We can’t just wait for the Naga Queen to recover and the sea tribe to attack again after three years, can we?" Lu Hong was full of confidence. "Besides, attacking the sea tribe is not just the empire’s concern. I believe Bu Sheng would be willing to help."
"You think too highly of it," Konstantin shook his head. Cooperation in theory is one thing, but true collaboration always involved much haggling.
"Anyway, you are the Emperor. You make the decision." Lu Hong left, Lock Fan and others were waiting to celebrate with him, and there was no point in staying at the Imperial Palace.
Seven days later, the long-dormant tower within Kains Academy once again shone brightly.
It was a pale golden light which pierced through the fog of the plane, reaching deep into the Star Sea.
This scene woke up all the soldiers of Jinrui City from their sleep. This dazzling tower of light, as if calling out to its master, celebrated his return.
Konstantin received the news and immediately left the Imperial Palace in the middle of the night, heading straight for the Seven Towers.
"Pale gold, pale gold...," Konstantin’s hands trembled slightly. Each of the Seven Towers had its own color, and pale gold represented the most mysterious and strongest among them—the Sky Tower!
"Brahman has returned!"
This sentence echoed in the hearts of every imperial member of the Human Race.
"Brahman has returned!"
This sentence resounded through the skies of the imperial capital, Jinrui City.
"Brahman has returned!"
This shout expressed the bittersweet feelings of countless imperial soldiers.
Yes, clad in white, he returned from beyond the Star Sea, breaking through the plane, and landed steadily atop the Sky Tower.
In an instant, the pale golden light converged, like a blazing sun, illuminating the night sky of the empire.
"I am back!" Brahman spoke softly, declaring his return.
The old Priest leaned against the window, a look of disdain on his face: "After all these years, you still like to show off."
"What’s happening?" Lu Hong opened his drowsy eyes. "Where did we leave off drinking?"
"You left off where your wife came looking for you, and you wouldn’t go," the old Priest said with a smile to Lu Hong. "How about it? Even with a strong body, isn’t your back still not up to the task?"
"I won’t waste words with you," Lu Hong collapsed onto the soft bedding, found a comfortable position, and fell into a blissful sleep.
The Brahman descended from the high tower and stood in front of Konstantin, bowing slightly, "I apologize. Although aware of the crisis befalling the empire, I could not return immediately to fulfill my duties as a Tower Master, which was my mistake. Please forgive me, Your Majesty."
Konstantin was taken aback by the Brahman’s apology, having never seen him show a good face to the emperors of the Human Race, let alone apologize.
"Your Excellence, the Tower Master, you are being too serious. Your return is already a blessing for the empire."
The Brahman nodded, then returned to his proud demeanor and said, "Since I have returned, the empire will no longer be threatened by the sea creatures. Of course, before that, I need Your Majesty to investigate the whereabouts of the other Tower Masters. I will first rescue them, unite the power of the seven towers, and annihilate the sea creatures!"
"That would be most excellent," Konstantin replied, obviously delighted. It was not unprecedented in the history of the empire for the seven Tower Masters to join forces in a war of annihilation, but to achieve this feat, certain stringent conditions were needed, such as the proposal from the Master of the Sky Tower and the agreement of a majority of the other Tower Masters.
The sea creatures had inflicted immeasurable losses on the empire, and Konstantin believed that as long as the Brahman proposed the plan, it would certainly be unanimously approved by the other Tower Masters.
"Very well, I will verify the locations of the other Tower Masters as soon as possible."
The Brahman didn’t waste any more words with Konstantin and got up to leave once the Emperor agreed.
Using his senses to find the large estate where Lu Hong lived, the Brahman didn’t need to knock; he flew in and found the side room where the old Priest was.
The Brahman hesitated upon thinking of his former teacher inside. He took a deep breath and knocked on the door, "Teacher, are you there?"
"You’ve found your way here; could I even say I’m not?" the old Priest snorted coldly, "Get in here!"
With the old Priest’s consent, the Brahman pushed the door open and entered.
Taking two steps towards him, the Brahman knelt and bowed, "Disciple Brahman pays respects to his gracious teacher!"
"Now, you are a Tower Master, a title too grand for me to accept," the old Priest quipped, not showing a warm expression.
"A teacher for a day is a teacher for a lifetime. I will forever remember your tremendous grace and virtue."
"Heh, your words sound pleasant enough," the old Priest scoffed coldly, "but what about your actions? Do you remember the warnings I used to give you?!"
"Disciple certainly remembers. I will forever take responsibility as a Tower Master, protecting all creatures under the heavens."
"Then, with the empire embroiled in war for years, countless of the Human Race suffering, where have you been?" the old Priest questioned loudly, "Speak! Where is that sense of duty you swore to uphold? How much do you even remember?"
"Teacher," facing the old Priest’s questioning, the Brahman replied with a bitter smile, "It’s not that I wanted to leave, but there were more important matters I needed to deal with. The war with the sea creatures could be delayed, so I left to prevent a greater disaster."
"Uh-huh?" The old Priest’s brow furrowed slightly, "I’ve heard the young man mention you were seen in the Eagle Alliance, seemingly dealing with the Demon Race. Tell me, what was the reason?"
"It was the mandate bestowed by the Great Bright Heavenly God. The Heavenly God informed me that the Demon Race was infiltrating the upper echelons of the Eagle Alliance, intending to overrun it. At the same time, the Lord of the Underworld would fulfill an ancient prophecy, staining the Star Sea. Therefore, I had to go and resolve the situation."
"Just you?" It was not that the old Priest looked down upon the Brahman, but even if he was formidable, both the Demon Race and the Underworld had Demigod or even True God powerhouses. How could a Third Transition powerhouse like him cope?
"Cough, cough!" Faced with his teacher’s disdain, the Brahman felt a bit awkward, "The Great Bright Heavenly God bestowed a strand of will to assist me from the side."
"Heh, isn’t it just that you’ve been used as a puppet by the Heavenly God?"
The old Priest pierced through the Brahman’s pretense.
However, the Brahman didn’t dwell on it and changed the subject, "Having quelled the Demon Race, I then delved into the Underworld. With the Great Bright Heavenly God’s assistance, I managed to delay the prophesied event for five years. After completing these tasks, I hurried back to the grace of God. Everything I did was for the continuation of the Human Race; please take this into account, my honorable teacher!"
"Well," the old Priest seemed to accept the explanation and asked, "What exactly does this Underworld prophecy you speak of entail?"
The Brahman spoke with a solemn expression, "When the Star Sea falls into chaos and all races decline, the Lord of the Underworld shall awaken from eternal slumber, bringing billions of underworld souls to rise once again!"
"The Lord of the Underworld is to resurrect?!" The old Priest was startled. The moment he uttered the words ’Lord of the Underworld,’ his Divine Soul trembled as if on the verge of collapsing.
Fortunately, the Brahman was quick and cast a couple of divine runes to stabilize the situation.
Having narrowly escaped death, the old Priest was drenched as if soaked, his body emitting waves of aftershock, "He... He is truly going to resurrect!"
Throughout All Heavens and Myriads of Worlds, all beings of creation dare not speak its revered name. Such has been the tyranny of the Lord of the Underworld since ancient times!
