Chapter 459 - 213 Level 3

Chapter 459: Chapter 213 Level 3

Another month had passed, and Lu Hong could now last for more than an hour within the second trial, although the damage he inflicted on the clones was still negligible. But his evasion skill was maxed out; his ability to dodge was at the MAX.

"Relying on this alone still won’t be enough to pass the trial," Lu Hong said as he walked out of the second trial for the first time without a scratch on his body, looking slightly tired but otherwise spirited.

Those Trialists betting on Lu Hong to come out injured cursed and left with a flip of their hands, while the old Priest tidied up the gambling stakes and approached Lu Hong, commenting, "Your progress is truly not small."

"I may dodge the opponent’s attacks, but I still can’t defeat it," Lu Hong replied somewhat gloomily.

Patting his shoulder, the Priest consoled him, "No rush, no rush, give it another hundred and eighty years, and you’re sure to get through."

"A hundred and eighty years? I have other matters to attend to. If it really comes down to it, I’d rather switch to another divine path," Lu Hong said. His primary goal in coming to the Cloudbreak Path was to reach the Third Transition as soon as possible, to fully secure the resolution of the Naga issue and guarantee safety. The longer the delay, the bigger the storm the empire would have to face.

"Switch to another divine path? You, a warrior, where else could you go to increase your strength?" asked the Priest.

"I didn’t come to the Cloudbreak Path mainly for the divine path trials."

The old Priest narrowed his eyes; he seemed to understand what Lu Hong meant and whispered, "You’re here to kill?"

"Fight, fight," Lu Hong corrected him.

"Tch," the Priest no longer bothered with Lu Hong and turned to leave.

Lu Hong did not follow him but sat down cross-legged in front of the second trial to meditate and recover his strength before attempting again.

Many of the new Trialists looked at him with disdain, mocking and scoffing as they passed by him, "Why don’t you go back where you came from, waste is a waste, and you still dream of proving yourself through the divine path?"

Over the months, Lu Hong’s reputation had spread throughout Mountain Gate City; many newcomers who hadn’t yet entered the divine path trials had heard about this waste who was beaten half to death by the second trial’s clone. In their minds, the second trial was an incredibly simple affair in the rumors regarding the Divine Path of Strength, and if someone couldn’t pass such a trial, what else could they be but a waste?

Lu Hong ignored these new Trialists; he had heard such comments plenty of times before and initially took them seriously, but later it didn’t bother him anymore.

Three hours went by, and Lu Hong felt in excellent condition. He stepped into the Formation again, but this time, as the scenery twisted and changed around him, he was not faced with a clone, but a middle-aged man.

"Huh?"

"Don’t be afraid, I am Elder Niu, in charge of the Transit Formation," the man began, "I’m here to give you a pass through this trial."

"A pass?" Lu Hong was astonished. What did he mean?

"Well," Elder Niu started spinning a tall tale, "I am deeply moved by your months of life-and-death struggle and indomitable will, so I have specially approved your passing of the second trial to proceed to the later ones."

"Really?" Lu Hong was hesitant.

"Of course, it’s true. The fact that I can appear in the Formation and talk to you, doesn’t that represent my identity?" Elder Niu certainly wouldn’t tell Lu Hong that he was letting him pass because the Formation’s crystal reserves were running low. Every time Lu Hong entered, creating a clone would use up a massive amount of crystals. Elder Niu could handle it once or twice, but as the time dragged on, he became worried, especially since Lu Hong hadn’t come out injured this time, meaning he would likely increase the number of his repetitive challenges. If Elder Niu didn’t let him pass, the trials beyond might collapse due to a lack of Magic Power.

"But I still want to try again. Can you wait a few more days?"

Try again? Elder Niu inwardly lost his cool, "Try my ass, get the hell out of here!"

With a sweep of his sleeve, Lu Hong disappeared from the Formation and landed steadily at the exit of the second trial.

The Trialists who had just broken through were startled by Lu Hong’s sudden appearance, "You broke through?"

Lu Hong didn’t bother with them and got up to leave.

"Stop!" A young Trialist stepped forward and grabbed Lu Hong’s shoulder, "I’m talking to you, you’d better be sensible."

Lu Hong slowly turned to look at him, "What do you want to know?"

The Trialist sized up Lu Hong, seeing that he was only a Second Transition with nothing to fear, "What happened to you inside the trial."

"You want to know?" Lu Hong’s lips curled into a smile.

"Yes." The young man thought Lu Hong had encountered a different trial than theirs, perhaps the legendary hidden trial, and wanted to pry some information from him.

"Actually, there was nothing special about my experience in the trial either. How about I demonstrate for you?"

No sooner had the words left his mouth than Lu Hong kicked out, landing a heavy blow to the opponent’s abdomen.

Poor young trialist, like a cannonball, smashed against the trial barrier behind him and passed out.

Having dealt with the trialist, Lu Hong looked around: "Anyone else want to know?"

Seeing that the group of trialists had stepped back in fear and were shaking their heads, he left with satisfaction.

Only after Lu Hong had completely disappeared did someone help up the young man who had been kicked: "Friend, are you alright?"

The young man spat out blood profusely, his head dizzy, and he gritted his teeth: "He dared to hit me? I won’t let this go!"

People around him tried to calm him down: "Forget about it, better not to make more trouble."

The young man took out a top-grade magic potion from his Space Ring and took it. Upon seeing the greed in the eyes of the surrounding trialists, he sneered: "My brother is Yi Kuang of the Blood Eagles. Think carefully before you act."

Blood Eagle Yi Kuang?! The faces of the surrounding trialists changed instantly, for he was a local tyrant within the Power God Path, a name associated with robbing and killing, and the thought of stealing from him was immediately extinguished.

"Why say such things, brother? You’re injured, come on, let’s help you to the next town for treatment."

"Hmph, that’s for the best." With the threat made, the young man spitefully looked in the direction where Lu Hong had disappeared, swearing to himself that he would avenge this slight!

Lu Hong was unaware of the trouble he had stirred up; even if he knew, he would probably be too happy to care. He had come to Canglan Path precisely to fight and increase his experience points. With enemies, his sources of experience would be stable.

Perhaps because he had been stuck at the second challenge for too long, Lu Hong made a beeline for the third challenge’s sandy sea. Speaking of the third challenge of the Power God Path, that was the beginning of the extreme trials, but the difficulty of passing the third challenge was not very high.

The third challenge of the Power God Path, named Rabbit Hunting, involved dealing with, indeed, rabbits made of countless grains of sand and stone.

These rabbits were not strong; their level adjusted to that of the trialist, remaining on par with them. One or two sandstone demon beasts were not difficult to handle, but an endless army of them... well, that was a different story.

The method to pass was not difficult; initially, one had a minute’s time, with each rabbit killed adding thirty seconds. Upon defeating five hundred rabbits, one could pass, of course, one had to wait until the time they had completely ran out to be transported out.

The rabbits didn’t all appear at once. At the start, ten would appear as a group, and after killing over a hundred, the number would increase by ten. Upon exceeding four hundred kills, the number of rabbits would reach 50—a daunting number—but manageable for some strong players. Therefore, the pass rate for this challenge was not too low, but the degree of madness of the trial was gradually becoming apparent.

Outside the third challenge, many people loitered at the entrance, but very few actually entered to take on the challenge.

Everyone’s gaze was fixed on the giant magic screen beside the entrance.

The first rank was held by Augustus, Third Transition Level 10, with 66,688 kills.

The second rank was Liu Mei, Third Transition Level 1, with 54,324 kills.

The third was the brother of the previously mentioned young man, Yi Kuang, Third Transition Level 11, with 51,229 kills.

The giant screen provided a clear statistical breakdown of the top one hundred annual kills of the sandstone rabbits. The level and kill count shone particularly red. Look at this Liu Mei—although she’s the weakest in strength among the top three, she has the highest number of kills. What does that tell you? That she’s badass! Her triple aspect cultivation is solid, and her potential enormous. Even the number one ranker on the board pales in comparison to her.

Lu Hong slowed his pace, approaching the crowd, only to hear those trialists intently watching a name climbing on the screen: Wei Kete.

The number of kills was soaring crazily, and amid the trialists’ excited shouts, he pushed down the original seventh rank holder and settled into place.

"46,633 demon rabbits!" The onlookers gasped: "How did he kill them? I can’t even reach 500!"

Apart from regret and reflection, there was a hint of pride in the faces of these trialists, for they, too, had witnessed the birth of a prodigy.

Lu Hong glanced indifferently at the screen, then turned and entered the challenge. Right now, he was very eager to find out how many demon beasts of the same level he could consecutively defeat after being tempered by the second challenge.
