Chapter 405: Chapter 160: Seeking Allies
Holding Lando’s hand tightly, Lu Hong didn’t linger too much, as over a hundred eyes were watching him, which was rather embarrassing.
"At sea, the sea tribes have an absolute advantage, but they also have a very deadly weakness—Demon Beasts!"
"Demon Beasts?!" The crowd was stunned. How could Demon Beasts counter the sea tribes?
Lu Hong explained, "The sea tribes are a special race. They are hostile to the demon beasts in the ocean. We just need to find the ocean’s demon beasts and use their power to suppress the unique characteristics of the sea tribes. In doing so, the balance of victory will no longer lean towards the sea tribes."
"But..." Xie Zhongxing spoke up, "From the watchtower fortress to this island, there hasn’t been a single trace of a demon beast along the way."
In the eyes of the empire’s generals, the ocean’s demon beasts and the sea tribes were of the same species.
Lu Hong shook his head, "The sea tribes are like orcs, and orcs and demon beasts are also two distinct species. Moreover, the ocean’s demon beasts are creatures nurtured by the sea, different from the sea tribes. They are naturally antagonistic to the sea tribes. The ocean demon beasts seem... seem more like original products."
Based on the information he had, Lu Hong made a deduction to the crowd, "Before the Sea God transformed the sea, the sea tribes had not yet been born. The demon beasts should have been borne by the sea before the sea tribes. After the Sea God replaced the will of the ocean, that’s when the sea tribes came into being. Therefore, the demon beasts naturally have a hostility towards the sea tribes. Even though the Sea God replaced the original will of the ocean, the sea as a whole remains the same. Hence, the ocean’s demon beasts can effectively curb the characteristics of the sea tribes and help us gain the upper hand."
Seeing Lu Hong’s analysis so clear and cogent, Xie Zhongxing couldn’t help but wonder if the Baron had returned to the Divine Favor earlier, could the empire have already repelled the sea tribes?
"But my lord Baron, where should we find the ocean demon beasts?" At this moment, someone posed the question.
"It’s not difficult," Lu Hong said. "I’ll take Lando with me shortly. I know where a top-tier demon beast resides. If we can persuade it, the demon beast will naturally come to our aid."
Seeing Lu Hong’s confident assertion, everyone heaved a sigh of relief, nodding in admiration and muttering about how knowledgeable and capable the Baron truly was, knowing and solving everything.
Lu Hong then said to Xie Zhongxing, "So, before I find the demon beast to help us, you need to hold this island. You also need to take precautions under the sea. I believe the sea tribes will soon initiate an encircling attack."
"I understand, don’t worry. We will hold out until you return," Xie Zhongxing nodded firmly, realizing that Lu Hong was truly an exceptional talent, a blessing for the empire.
During their conversation, a muffled sound came from far away, and everyone quickly rushed out of the tent.
Looking up at the sky, they saw thousands of rays of light bursting from the mainland and disappearing into the deep sea.
Lu Hong frowned, probably Caesar was confronting the Naga Queen, though the outcome was uncertain.
The spectacle of the radiant light had not yet faded when a thunderclap resounded in everyone’s ears. Instantly, the clear sky turned overcast, and a storm arrived swiftly.
This must be the Naga Queen launching her counterattack. Lu Hong didn’t dwell on it as the fight was beyond what he could participate in, not even worth thinking about watching. The pressing matter was finding the demon beast to help.
Lu Hong squeezed Lando’s little hand, "Come with me."
"I don’t want to." Lando snorted proudly, "After going to Umbra, there was not a single word from you, I’m not in your heart at all."
"I was wrong, okay? Don’t be mad," Lu Hong pulled Lando into his arms forcefully, ignoring her resistance, and kissed her deeply.
Gradually, Lando’s struggles turned into reciprocation, and right there amidst thousands of soldiers, the two passionately kissed.
Silver Wind looked dazedly at the scene before him and, coming back to his senses, looked around and couldn’t help but exclaim, "Publicly showing affection, aren’t you afraid of arousing resentment. The boss is really awesome!"
After the passionate moment, Lu Hong thought Lando would calm down, but her expression grew even more unpleasant, seemingly on the verge of exploding.
That’s not right. She just responded to me, logically speaking, she should no longer be angry.
Women are really tough to handle. Lu Hong, utterly confused, looked at Lando.
"Speak!" Lando gritted her teeth, "Who is that woman?!"
"Woman? Who? Who else?" Lu Hong was totally baffled, "Who are you talking about?"
"Your kissing skill has improved too quickly, did you seduce some other bitch?!" Furious, Lando slapped Lu Hong across the face and then stormed off without turning back.
Lu Hong was left in a mixture of laughter and tears.
"Oh!" Silver Wind whistled cheerfully, quite pleased to see the boss had a setback.
The envious glances from the soldiers around gradually turned kinder, occasionally showing a hint of sympathy. Got caught cheating, huh? Serves you right! That’s what you get for flaunting your love!
Lu Hong didn’t know how to please Lando anymore, especially since he had truly fallen for a woman within the Eagle Alliance.
Too ashamed to face Lando, he rested briefly before leaving the island in the early morning to head for the hideout of the sea monster in his memory.
The number of sea demons was not much less than that of the sea clan. The Naga Queen never intervened, maintaining a balance. She had never thought about annihilating the Demon Beasts, but to aid this sea raid, the Naga Queen utilized the power of the Tidal Orb to drive the Demon Beasts into the Red Marsh area.
Red Marsh was a strange sea area inhabited by bizarre creatures resembling clumps of reddish-brown mud. Individually they posed no threat, but these mud monsters could merge into a terrifying mass of thousands, against which magic and physical attacks were nearly ineffective and hard to kill.
However, Lu Hong was not headed to the Red Marsh area. Some powerful Demon Beasts could resist the power of the Tidal Orb, but were forced to hide under the pressure and dared not show themselves. He was looking for an enormous octopus beast, a standard level-twelve Demon Beast, comparable to a Third Transition Peak, or even stronger.
He hadn’t gone far when he saw Lando chasing after him.
"I knew you wouldn’t be angry with me," Lu Hong said with a grin.
"Hmph!" Lando swatted away the hand reaching towards her. "Don’t be smug, I haven’t forgiven you."
"Yes, yes, yes," Lu Hong responded, continuing awkwardly forward.
Lando muttered under her breath, "Such a pig-headed idiot!"
Together, they rushed day and night and finally reached their destination.
In front of them was the vast, empty sea. Curious, Lando asked, "How can you be sure that a high-level Demon Beast is here?"
"Not high-level, top-level," Lu Hong nodded. "The ocean surface looks almost the same everywhere, so we identify the sea area mainly by the seabed sediment."
"You can see the seabed?" Lando raised an eyebrow, having not noticed any magic sensing from Lu Hong along the way.
"Not really."
"You!" Lando gritted her teeth, clearly upset by Lu Hong’s deliberate provocation.
Lu Hong smiled slightly. "Let’s not worry about that. Let’s go down. Don’t talk later, and if the Demon Beast attacks, just take me away quickly. Don’t retaliate. We want to counterattack the sea clan, but we can’t afford to antagonize a top-level Demon Beast too much."
"Got it," Lando nodded and quickly cast two underwater breathing spells before diving into the water.
As they dived deeper, the light around them grew dimmer. Lu Hong snapped his fingers and a ball of Holy Light ignited at his fingertip, dispersing the surrounding darkness.
"You know Holy Light Spells?!" Lando was stunned. Wasn’t he a warrior?
"Hehe, it’s a secret," Lu Hong chuckled.
Now, Lando was truly angry. "If you won’t talk, I’m leaving."
"Don’t," Lu Hong quickly held onto Lando, flicking his Space Ring.
The Holy King, wise enough, peeked out its Divine Soul with a smile, "Hello, sister-in-law."
"En?" Lando stared curiously at the Holy King’s soul. "Is this... a soul?"
Lando was familiar with studying living bodies and corpses, but this was her first encounter with a soul existing apart from the body.
"Give it to me for research," Lando pointed at the Holy King, asking Lu Hong. The Holy King quickly retreated back into the ring, women were indeed terrifying!
"Hey, hey, hey, don’t think about it. He has saved my life."
"Fine," Lando pouted.
"Let’s go, let’s go. The island could be attacked by the sea clan at any moment, we don’t have much time." Holding Lando’s hand, Lu Hong continued their journey into the dark depths.
