Chapter 271: Chapter 28: The Rulers of the Seven Kingdoms Battle the Great Serpent

What kind of monster is this?!

Lu Hong ran wildly, realizing from a single touch that the giant serpent’s defense was astonishing; his attacks were completely unable to harm it.

Finally, Lu Hong remembered the story Xixi had once told him in the carriage: Could it be the Earth’s Core Serpent?

According to Xixi, this serpent had settled in Ambra a very long time ago, back when it was still the Era of the Gods. The ancestors of Ambra had united to fight against this serpent with minimal success, and, having no other choice, they had watched powerlessly as the serpent took over the heart of the land.

The Earth’s Core Serpent had lived through the Era of the Gods, the age of elven rule, and various periods of Human Race rule, making it an ancient being. Its strength was at least on the level of a demigod.

The serpent moved quickly, but luckily, Lu Hong was just a notch faster; otherwise, he really would have lost his life to the snake—or rather, to the inferno of the earth’s core it was dragging along.

The giant serpent carried destructive flames, dashing up from the heart of the earth.

The people from Leng Yue sensed the wails coming from deep underground, each of them feeling terrified.

"Wuu wuu wuu? Wuu wuu wuu?" Nila still emitted that somber buzzing, unsure if her poison injuries could be healed.

"Something seems to be burrowing up from deep beneath the ground," Magic Wind said, pressing his palm to the ground and finely sensing the changes in the air. "This thing seems massive, space ripples are already forming."

"Could it be that thing?" Leng Yue extended her bare hand: "The temperature in the air is getting higher and higher."

Magic Wind took a deep breath, "Don’t say stupid things, the Earth’s Core Serpent awakens once every three hundred years, and it’s still a long time before its next revival. How could it wake up early?"

Just then, two figures suddenly appeared in the distance.

"Is that Little Black Sky?!" Magic Wind recognized the newcomer and was scared out of his wits. Why had this guy come back?

The three of them tensely braced themselves for an attack, but Little Black Sky didn’t make a move. Instead, he walked up to them and said, "The Seven Kingdoms Combat Conference can be put aside for now—I advise you all to hurry and run for your lives."

"Lord Little Black Sky, what exactly has happened deep within the earth’s core?" Leng Yue mustered the courage to ask.

"The Earth’s Core Serpent has awakened," Little Black Sky continued toward the surface, bearing a woman on his back. "In the northwest, there’s a portal leading to the surface. Your survival depends on yourselves now."

As soon as he finished speaking, Little Black Sky’s figure disappeared.

The three from Leng Yue looked at each other. Even Little Black Sky had spoken—and there was nothing to gain by lying—so what were they waiting for? Escaping was of the utmost importance!

Inside the Sun Arena, the kings of the seven nations were desperately searching for their own flame warriors on the projection screen, but it was almost impossible to find any survivors. It seemed that these people had all died.

The Earth’s Core Serpent ravaged the heart of the earth mercilessly. Lu Hong barely escaped the serpent’s jaws but found it difficult to figure out how to leave the heart of the earth. The location he had been transported to couldn’t help him leave—where was the exit?

Flames and magma continuously erupted from deep underground, forming pillars of fire that harvested the lives of the demon beasts of the earth’s core.

Tensely aware of his situation, Lu Hong maneuvered between them, dodging flames while searching for a possible exit.

Luckily, the Earth’s Core Serpent hadn’t taken an interest in Lu Hong, only intent on climbing upward to escape the earth’s core.

Inside the Sun Arena, the kings of the seven kingdoms sent away their soldiers and officials as the trembling of the earth grew more intense.

The King of the Black Kingdom stood up: "Gentlemen, the Earth’s Core Serpent wreaks havoc, harming millions of Ambra’s children. Today, I propose that the monarchs of the seven kingdoms set aside past grievances and join hands to eradicate this evil beast."

The Azure King saw Xixi off and then spoke up: "The Earth’s Core Serpent is not an easy adversary. Our ancestors have battled against it every three hundred years, but the serpent has always persisted. The reason is self-evident."

"If our forefathers fought it, then we naturally can’t be absent," said the King of the Wide Path, grabbing the war dao beside him, his Magic Power surged, erupting from his body: "At the very least, we can’t let the next generation look down on us."

Liang Chen, King of the Pingyao Country, also guessed Azure King’s concerns and thus spoke: "If any of us monarchs were to fall while fighting the Earth’s Core Serpent, it is only right that the seven kingdoms take an oath; we must not infringe the slightest upon their Crown Prince before they are fully grown. Those who violate this will face our collective punishment."

"Agreed."

"Agreed."

"Agreed."

,,,,,,

Azure King looked at Liang Chen, understanding that sometimes your opponent knows you better than you know yourself.

Suddenly, vast molten lava burst forth from the ground, and the massive body of the serpent drilled out from the center of the Sun Arena, letting out a roar like that of a dragon!

"Could this beast be attempting to transform into a dragon and ascend to godhood?!" The King of the Black Kingdom narrowed his eyes, shocked and furious.

"Why bother with all that? I’m going in first!" The King of the Wide Path couldn’t contain his eagerness for battle and leaped forward, bringing his war dao down hard onto the body of the Earth’s Core Serpent.

With a clang, the King of Hengdao watched the scales that didn’t even spark when struck. What kind of freakish defensive ability was this?

Weiwei, the Burning Serpent, winced in pain and looked down to see it was a human strongman. Every time it awoke, humans would come to meddle. What to do? Kill them, of course!

With a fierce roar, the Burning Serpent charged furiously towards the King of Hengdao.

"Get out of the way!" The Shate King’s spell skill was instantly ready, and he slammed his scepter down: "Sand City Burial!"

In an instant, the entire area turned into a sea of sand, countless sands forming into hands, grasping tightly at the Burning Serpent, trying to drag it into the abyss of the sandy ocean.

The Burning Serpent felt the strong pull and, roaring with rage, broke free from the confines of the quicksand in a burst of brute force, then turned to spew molten flames at the Shate King.

"Sand’s Defense!" The Shate King hastily conjured a shield around himself, which began to disintegrate under the assault of the high-temperature flames. If no one came to his aid, the Shate King would likely be worn down by the fire and perish.

"Hold on, I’m coming to help you." The King of Pei dismounted from the arena, punching the ground and summoning walls of earth and rock to cut off the fiery breath.

Taking the opportunity to catch his breath, the Shate King teleported away, and in the next second, lava broke through the earth and rock defenses, instantly melting sections of Shate Kingdom’s city area with its searing heat.

The King of Black took a deep breath, and his purple-black Magic Power dispersed in the air, constantly morphing into various strange demon beasts.

"King of Ji, have you figured out which monster to use against it?" King Liang Chen stepped forward, and immediately a torrential downpour began, the meeting of fire and water created plumes of white smoke.

The Burning Serpent thrashed in the smoke, and a hundred-meter-wide crack extended from the center of the arena towards the southeast.

"Don’t let it get away!" The King of Black shouted.

Cang King tore off his upper garment, revealing the divine patterns on his body. With full power, the array of divine patterns expanded, transforming into a cage that trapped the Burning Serpent within.

The imprisoned Burning Serpent went into a fury, violently striking the array.

Cang King gritted his teeth to endure the assault, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth: "Hurry up and find a chance, I can’t hold it for long!"

"Do you think we need to be told?" The King of Pingyao’s long-prepared ultimate move also slowly unwound, with lightning bursting forth from within: "Thunder God Drill!" This attack almost cost the King of Pingyao his life in a desperate move.

In the pouring rain, a ten-thousand-foot giant, made from lightning, revealed its true form amidst the white smoke.

With a thunder hammer in hand, the giant struck fiercely at the Burning Serpent’s head, the scattered bolts of lightning tearing the surrounding space apart, displaying infinite power.

The Burning Serpent sensed the terror of this strike and hurriedly dodged.

"Trap it!" Under the roar of the King of Pingyao, King Liang Chen brought his hands together and, suddenly, a water serpent appeared in the rain, wrapping around the Burning Serpent.

At the same time, the Shate King once again refined the sea of sand to restrain the Burning Serpent.

The King of Black finally gathered his demon beasts, and a mutant beast similar to the Burning Serpent burst forth, pressing down on the serpent’s head.

Cang King also exerted his full strength, pushing the divine pattern array to its limit.

With the combined forces, the Burning Serpent could only watch helplessly as the Thunder Drill smashed down upon it.

As the lightning flashed, a massive shockwave erupted from the center of the arena.

The ground began to collapse, and the Burning Serpent let out successive roars, shaking the earth and mountains as if heralding the end of the world.

"This beast isn’t dead yet?!" Before King Hengdao could finish, a lash from the serpent’s tail sent him flying, his whereabouts unknown.

"Get out of the way!" The King of Black bellowed.

At that moment, King Pei was conjuring Magic Power to reinforce the ground and prevent it from collapsing. Suddenly, the Burning Serpent burst forth from beneath him, and the King of Pei, caught off guard, fell into the serpent’s jaws and disappeared.

In the next second, a red glow spread across the sky, and the rain called down by King Liang Chen also turned red, transforming into fiery molten rain that ignited the earth.

King Liang Chen, backlashed by his own skill, spat out blood, looking haggard: "It’s taken over my skill?!"

The King of Black urged his mutant beast to search through the fog, but he couldn’t find the Burning Serpent.

"Where is it? Where is it? Cang King, tell me quickly!"

Facing the King of Black’s fury, Cang King was also under great pressure: "If I knew, would I need your questioning?"

Indeed, even though the Burning Serpent was confined within the divine array, Cang King couldn’t sense its presence at all. What kind of ability did this creature possess to be so cunning?

With no trace of the Burning Serpent, the Kings were on pins and needles. King Hengdao had suffered a hit from the tail, his life or death unknown, and King Pei had fallen into the serpent’s mouth, presumably gone for good. Regretting their actions, the remaining five finally understood why their ancestors had never been a match for this giant serpent. To be precise, this Burning Serpent shouldn’t be considered a Third Transition Demon Beast, but rather a Demigod-level beast that could potentially transform into a dragon and break through to the divine level at any moment.
