Chapter 253 - 12 Treatment
Chapter 253: Chapter 12 Treatment
"Master Li, you know my habits," King Cang emerged from the inner room, seemingly just after Princess Chen Xi had fallen asleep; his tone was low and angry.
"Your Majesty, this matter is of great importance. The Left Envoy of the Disaster Church was found dead outside the palace walls. Fortunately, your servant arrived in time to save him."
King Cang, following what Master Li had said, looked towards Lu Hong. "Is it you? Tell me, why did the Disaster Church send the Left Envoy to kill you?"
"I am Lu Hong, at your service, Your Majesty," Lu Hong bowed deeply. Master Li was about to pull Lu Hong down to kneel, but King Cang slightly moved his fingers, not particularly minding Lu Hong’s disrespect. "Speak. Here with me, no one can kill you."
"Yes." Lu Hong continued, "I killed a group of bandits in Rocky Mountain outside Qingxiao City. From the bandit leader, I learned a huge secret."
"What secret?" King Cang was uninterested, for he felt that there could hardly be any secrets that could arouse his interest from such a man. If it wasn’t for the added seriousness of the Left Envoy’s death, he would have already sent them away.
"It’s about Princess Chen Xi’s illness."
"What did you say?!" King Cang’s expression changed slightly, and then Lu Hong felt the world spinning, completely suppressed within King Cang’s palm.
Moments later, the three of them appeared in another palace which, from its furnishings, was clearly King Cang’s study.
"Tell me, what did that bandit say!" King Cang’s voice was cold and heavy.
"He told me that Princess Chen Xi’s incurable illness is actually a curse."
"A curse..." King Cang’s face showed a look of disappointment. "Is that all?"
It seemed King Cang already knew about Princess Chen Xi being cursed and was not surprised by the information Lu Hong provided.
"It seems, Your Majesty, that you have been unable to eradicate this curse?"
"Indeed, Master Li had long noticed the curse on Chen Xi. I have been secretly searching for years, but never found someone who could lift it," King Cang waved his hand. "You may leave."
Lu Hong indeed had no way to lift the curse, and it seemed this time the negotiation could not proceed.
"Hey, hey, little brother, wait a moment." Ancestor Dragon hurriedly called out. "You can’t break the curse, but I can. This kind of trash thing, can be lifted easily."
"You can lift it? Stop joking. I’m afraid if it doesn’t work, I might be killed by King Cang," Lu Hong hesitated.
"Don’t you trust your big brother?!" Ancestor Dragon puffed up and glared in Lu Hong’s mind. "Take this job for me, and I’ll show you. However, after this I might need to sleep a few more days. If you can find the Magic Potion to restore the soul, I might wake up earlier."
"Your Majesty, I can lift the curse on Princess Chen Xi." After talking with Ancestor Dragon, Lu Hong retracted his half-stepped foot out of the palace door and turned back to face King Cang.
"You?" King Cang didn’t believe it one bit, but he knew whether Lu Hong was lying, "I don’t know where you got such confidence. Even the priests at the Third Transition Peak could not lift that curse. I appreciate your kindness, but please, let’s not torment Xixi any further."
After decades of treatment, Xixi had gone through too much hope and disappointment. That torment made King Cang reluctant to continue having Chen Xi undergo any more treatments; he just wanted to accompany her through her last days.
"Your Majesty, I am willing to bet my life on this," Lu Hong declared firmly. "Please trust me one more time."
King Cang stared at Lu Hong for a long time, and finally sighed, "I hope you do not disappoint Xixi, nor let me down."
"I will."
Lu Hong conveyed Ancestor Dragon a series of requests; it was actually very simple. Let Princess Chen Xi sleep and not wake up, while everyone else leaves the great hall, not peeking inside.
Since King Cang agreed to let Lu Hong treat her, he would not doubt it.
Master Li and King Cang dismissed all the guards and stood in the square outside the palace, both master and servant remained silent, just staring intently at the great hall that was barred off.
Lu Hong stepped into the inner chamber and arrived at Princess Chen Xi’s canopy bed, lifting the curtain, only to discover that this person was the woman who played the zither in the courtyard that day.
"Hey? You’ve seen this girl before," Ancestor Dragon laughed. "you really are fated."
"Let’s not talk about fate. First, check the curse on her to see if you can cure it. If you can’t, you better show me a way out!" Lu Hong sighed. In such a situation, it might be better to openly confront the Magic Wind. Even if exposed, at least he wouldn’t die. If he couldn’t cure her, there was an 80% chance King Cang would kill him on the spot and a 20% chance he would be set up to die at the upcoming martial meeting of the seven nations.
"Of course, I’ve already identified what type of curse it is," Ancestor Dragon said. "For me, it’s too simple."
"Really?" Lu Hong was overjoyed.
"Of course. This curse is a relic of our era, not too difficult to lift, but in today’s times, the method to lift it has probably been lost, or the necessary items to lift the curse can’t be found," Ancestor Dragon said indifferently. "The curse on this girl is called the ’Seven Kills Curse,’ flaring up seven times each month, and every seven years, it erupts significantly. After seven of these major eruptions, it’s certain death. Each time it flares, she suffers excruciating pain as if someone is breaking and crushing her bones inch by inch. The pain experienced during a major eruption multiplies several times over, and ordinary people wouldn’t last a year before going mad and killing themselves."
Hearing Ancestor Dragon’s explanation, Lu Hong immediately felt deep sympathy for this frail princess, facing such pain as an ordinary person, truly wanting to live!
"Hurry up and treat her, Dragon Brother!"
"Ouch, does it hurt now? You don’t care whether your brother is dead or alive?" the Ancestor Dragon sneered, "Fickle in the face of beauty!"
",,,,,,"
"Well well, luckily we encountered this curse; otherwise, I would have had to expend more Power of Soul." The Ancestor Dragon spoke as he bestowed his soul into Lu Hong’s mind, "Accept it, let it help you awaken the dragon wings on your back. In the Era of the Gods, Dragon Blood was the best remedy against all sorts of curses. Even if it couldn’t completely eliminate them, it could significantly alleviate their effects. This Seven Kills Curse fears pure Dragon Blood, and the wings on your back are the best weapon against it. Once you spread your wings, make an incision, and feed the Dragon Blood into the girl’s mouth."
"Alright."
"What do you mean ’alright’? We’re not done!" the Ancestor Dragon scolded, "What nonsense are you thinking? Dragon Blood is highly volatile. If you don’t control its power, this frail girl would be freed from the curse only to explode and die."
"What should I do?" Lu Hong hurriedly asked.
"Hehe~" the Ancestor Dragon chuckled, "You can use your mouth to extract the volatile power from the Dragon Blood out of her body."
",,,,,," Lu Hong had a dark expression, "Is there really no other way?"
"That’s it."
Lu Hong wasn’t sure if the Ancestor Dragon was deceiving him, but since it was said, he decided to go ahead with it.
Everything proceeded as planned; as the Ancestor Dragon’s Power of Soul surged into Lu Hong’s mind, an enormous dragon shadow flapped its wings and soared through Lu Hong’s vision.
Soon, Lu Hong felt an itch on his back, and blazing wings burst forth. Luckily, the inner sanctuary was spacious enough to accommodate these wings spanning more than three meters.
As the Ancestor Dragon had instructed, Lu Hong drew the holy sword lightly, causing Dragon Blood to drip from the wings.
Lu Hong quickly collected some and fed it to Princess Chen Xi.
The scorching Dragon Blood flowed down the girl’s throat, and the curse entrenched within her seemed agitated by something, letting out a piercing howl, almost as if it had come to life.
A great amount of black gas continuously escaped from the girl’s body.
"Quick, the curse is almost lifted. Help her extract the blood power now, or she’ll die," the Ancestor Dragon urged weakly before falling into a slumber.
Lu Hong retracted his wings and, not daring to hesitate, leaned close to the girl’s mouth and fiercely kissed her.
Xixi had a beautiful dream; she dreamed of one day emerging from the shadows of the curse, from the shadow of death, finally able to breathe deeply under the sun and freely embrace the sky.
Half-awake, Xixi felt a fire burning inside her, and something seemed to be moving in her mouth.
"Hm?" She tried hard to open her eyes, and to her shock, a man was forcefully kissing her?!
"Ah~!" Xixi slapped Lu Hong on the face, letting out a piercing scream.
"Don’t, I’m here to save you; it’s not over yet, just bear with it a little longer," Lu Hong hurriedly explained and then embraced the girl’s head, kissing her again forcefully.
"Ugh~~~" The frail girl was no match for the bully, her helpless struggles did nothing but make him more frenzied.
After a while, the flames inside the girl finally extinguished, Lu Hong also breathed a sigh of relief, released Xixi, and stepped back several paces.
"You,,,,,,you pervert!" Tears streamed down Xixi’s face.
"Don’t cry, I really was saving you," Lu Hong said with a bitter smile, explaining with no confidence, even though he was not supposed to let King Cang find him awake at this crucial moment (Dragon Blood has a purifying effect, clearing the low-level sedatives).
"Father, Father! Hurry, save me, there’s a pervert!" Xixi struggled to scream. Although her voice was weak, it travelled through the barrier and reached King Cang’s ears.
King Cang’s face immediately darkened, curses, it’s a good thing this barrier isn’t soundproof; otherwise, his daughter would be dishonored, and he would still be standing guard.
Enraged, King Cang shattered the barrier with a punch and pinned Lu Hong fiercely under his foot.
"Your Majesty, I’ve been wronged! I’ve lifted the curse from Princess Chen Xi!"
King Cang looked closely and indeed, Xixi’s complexion was much better than before, the inexplicable black gas inside her completely dissipated. The hand that was initially pressing on Lu Hong’s head hesitated, then retracted.
Releasing Lu Hong, King Cang tightly embraced the girl, his tone trembling slightly, "Xixi, your curse is lifted, it’s really lifted!"
"Is it,,,,,,really lifted?" Xixi was stunned, somewhat disbelieving, "Really?"
Under King Cang’s repeated affirmations, a bitter smile appeared on Xixi’s face. Tears unconsciously streamed down, falling heavily on King Cang’s shoulders.
Mr. Li approached Lu Hong, helping him up, occasionally wiping the corners of his eyes, as people get older, their eyes get shallower too.
