Chapter 232: Chapter 219 Ancestor Dragon Companion

"Dragon Brother, how could you be aware of what happened between us in the game?" Having grown more familiar with the Ancestor Dragon, Lu Hong voiced the doubt deep in his heart.

The Ancestor Dragon pondered for a moment, "Little Lu, some things I do not tell you not because I wish to withhold, but because knowing them would do you no good. You are still too weak. When you can converse with the gods as equals, that will be when you have the capital to delve into the mysteries."

"Understood, I will work hard." Lu Hong nodded, feeling a natural closeness to the Ancestor Dragon based on the memories from the game. The Ancestor Dragon also remembered everything and regarded him as his little brother.

"Little Lu, since you’ve come to this world, why didn’t you seek me out sooner?" the Ancestor Dragon complained. "You have no idea how lonely I’ve been here."

"If I had known you could remember our past, I would have come to you long ago," Lu Hong said with a straight face, though in reality, if he hadn’t toughened his will through trials, he would probably have died amid the Ancestor Dragon’s endless resentment; seeing the Ancestor Dragon would have been a task for his next life.

"What exactly happened to your arm?" the Ancestor Dragon asked with concern. When he heard Lu Hong’s story, he exploded with rage. If not for the restraints of the chains, his fury might have already erupted, wreaking havoc on heaven and earth.

"Damn these chains!" The Ancestor Dragon was seething with anger, gnawing at them incessantly, but never able to damage them in the slightest.

"It’s alright, Dragon Brother, just wait patiently. If I become a god, I will surely set you free," Lu Hong stepped forward to comfort him, calming the Ancestor Dragon’s rage.

"Alas! It all depends on you now, brother." The Ancestor Dragon then used his Divine Power to construct a depression. "A Heavenly God descends to perform Body Refinement to achieve the ultimate survival, do you truly wish to do this?"

The Ancestor Dragon was not keen on Lu Hong mastering this Skill because the mortality rate was too high. "Years ago, the War God sought my blood and tempered his body, accidentally falling into the Demon Fire Array and comprehending this supreme Secret Technique. A Heavenly God’s descent indeed grants immense strength. When Hell invaded the Divine Grace, the War God widely disseminated his Secret Technique to enhance human resilience against Demons. However, almost no one could endure the tempering by Demon Fire and Dragon Blood. In the end, the War God had to seal the technique."

"I know, but I must do this. Otherwise, I can’t restore my severed limb." Lu Hong clenched his teeth. "My wife’s body is still hanging from the city walls; I have to bring her back!"

"A person cannot be resurrected from death, Little Lu, you have to accept that," The Ancestor Dragon’s form once again shrank, becoming only a little more than a person’s height, seeming less ferocious and somewhat endearingly clumsy.

His dragon claw patted Lu Hong’s shoulder. "If your wife had exceptional talent and a unique soul, she might have been taken to the underworld after death, but I do not know where the entrance to the underworld is. In the past, only seven of the strongest Heavenly Gods of Divine Grace have ever ventured into the underworld, which is said to be filled with formidable beings. Had it not been for the restraint of the Law, the underworld could sweep across all heavens."

"I will find someone to request a Du of Youjian and see if there’s a chance to evoke her soul," Lu Hong nodded. "If the Heavenly Gods were able to find the entrance to the underworld, then so can I."

"Good. Once you become a god, I’ll accompany you on the search," the Ancestor Dragon slapped his chest. "And if the King of the Underworld refuses to release her, I will take care of him!"

After more idle chatting, Lu Hong’s vital energy finally revived under the healing light of the Ancestor Dragon, returning him to his peak condition.

Lu Hong sat in the depression as the Ancestor Dragon shattered the crystal vial, drawing upon the Demon King’s fire to ignite Lu Hong’s body.

As the Demon Fire fell upon him, Lu Hong’s flesh was almost instantly devoured. Had it not been for the divine patterns of protection from the Heavenly God’s Body Refinement, Lu Hong might very well be dead by now.

"Hold on!" the Ancestor Dragon encouraged loudly. "The Demon Fire must burn away the impurities in your body, temper your bones, and fortify your heart."

The luminous divine patterns firmly locked in Lu Hong’s bones, heart, and brain, preventing them from being burned away, using the devouring nature of the Demon Fire one bit at a time to refine his mortal body. The process lasted three days, during which Lu Hong fainted from pain countless times, but the thought of Nono and his fallen brothers drove him to persist.

Seeing Lu Hong’s originally pure white bones become completely transparent and his heart radiating a rainbow divine glow, the Ancestor Dragon knew he was on the brink of success. Next was the infusion of Dragon Blood, with its mighty vitality to endow him with new flesh, until he was reborn anew.

"Hold on, little Lu, the Dragon Blood is coming!" The Ancestor Dragon spread his wings wide, reverting to his strongest form, his sharp claws tearing open his chest to lift his beating heart above Lu Hong’s head.

With the squeeze of the dragon claw, the heart blood from within the Ancestor Dragon poured down in torrents, extinguishing the Demon Fire, filling the depression, and completely submerging Lu Hong within.

"Quickly begin the second round of Body Refinement!" Ancestor Dragon roared through the excruciating pain, and under the guidance of Divine Power, Lu Hong experienced a moment of enlightenment, awakening from his confusion.

Moments later, Dragon Blood rapidly depleted, drawn into Lu Hong’s body, and his powerful, blood-filled flesh reconstructed itself, bit by bit, upon his bones.

Ancestor Dragon continued to replenish the pool’s Dragon Blood. This Divine Descent, bestowed by Heavenly God himself, was more lavish than what War God experienced in the past.

Ancestor Dragon would never share his Heart Blood with War God, nor would the Hell Demon King offer his Demon King Flame. Therefore, War God’s Divine Descent paled in comparison to Lu Hong’s, the difference between them vast as heaven and earth!

Two more days passed. Fortunately, Ancestor Dragon was robust and grand in size; otherwise, he would not have been able to keep up with Lu Hong’s fierce consumption.

With the assistance of Body Refinement, his severed limbs regenerated, his flesh rebuilt, and finally, when the last drop of Dragon Blood was absorbed into his body, Lu Hong suddenly opened his eyes. The profound strength coursing through him gave him the illusion of being able to grasp the heavens and the earth.

Strong! Even mightier than when the Lion King descended!

Seeing Lu Hong’s success, Ancestor Dragon repositioned his heart and casually cast several recovery spells on himself. A faint smile emerged on his pale dragon face, "You’ve succeeded!"

"Yes, I have succeeded! Thank you, Dragon Brother!" Lu Hong said with a happy smile, convinced that with this newfound strength, he would surely be able to bring Nono back. Now, the only thing left was to obtain the Youjian from Cui Xi.

"Phew," Ancestor Dragon let out a sigh of relief, "I was really afraid you’d perish just like that, and I would be left without any hope of escape."

"The lucky ones have the favor of heaven," Lu Hong looked at Ancestor Dragon with concern. "Losing so much blood, are you okay?"

"It’s nothing serious, just a matter of a hundred or two hundred years. Besides, no one will bother me anyway," Ancestor Dragon waved his hand. "But you—don’t rush into becoming a god. I’ve spent countless centuries on this mountain peak, and I have a feeling that something crucial to becoming a god has been smuggled from this world, making the conditions incredibly stringent. The reason behind this will need to be discovered by you."

"Okay, I understand," Lu Hong nodded. "I have more important things to attend to and may not be able to stay here with you."

"That’s alright. Go ahead. The consumption was a bit great; I need a good sleep."

"Dragon Brother, don’t you have the ability to perform a Soul Split, to attach yourself to me, and thereby temporarily escape this prison?" Lu Hong suddenly asked Ancestor Dragon.

"Ah?!" Ancestor Dragon was startled, "Right! How are you so clever?!"

Lu Hong’s suggestion was exactly what Ancestor Dragon was hoping for. Elated, Ancestor Dragon let out a triumphant roar that spread across the South Sands, almost giving the imperial guards stationed there heart attacks from the shock.

"Just a moment," Ancestor Dragon summoned his Divine Power, and a small golden dragon flew out from his forehead, piercing through Lu Hong’s flesh and plunging into his heart. Shortly after, Lu Hong felt an itch on his back and, with a slight effort, a pair of crimson wings unfurled.

"These are the ’Ancestor Dragon Wings,’ a skill that comes with me attaching to your body," Ancestor Dragon explained. "Due to the shackles of God Imprisonment Lock, my power cannot be taken away; therefore, I have transformed it into wings to bestow upon you. With these wings, you can soar the skies. But don’t be hasty. The wings have not yet fully integrated with you; you’re better off not using them for the time being. Wait a few years, once you’ve fully merged, then you can fly at will."

"Alright," Lu Hong responded with a gentle smile, as Ancestor Dragon coiled his massive body up, closed his eyes, and slipped into slumber.

While the little dragon attached to Lu Hong’s heart shouted excitedly, "Oh! Oh! Freedom at last!"

Lu Hong laughed heartily, "Let’s go! Dragon Brother, I’ll take you to see the outside world!"

With those words, he leapt down from the mountaintop. The Divine Descent power activated, and a rainbow of Divine Light descended from the sky. Lu Hong, like a Heavenly God, expanded in size by a fraction, full of explosive power, utterly fearless of the impact from his fall from thousands of meters. Like a meteor, he crashed down, creating a vast crater at the foot of a snow-capped mountain.

The Magic Power infused in the scroll by Lando had long since faded, but with Lu Hong’s vitality in abundance, he could activate on his own the scroll which normally required the combined efforts of three mid-phase professionals. As the portal opened, Lu Hong deactivated the Divine Descent state, with a faint smile, he stepped through.
