Chapter 196: Chapter 185: The Mystery of the Divine Beast

In the Era of the Gods, the Endless Forest stood as a top-tier realm, teeming with Demon Beasts that wielded boundless destructive power. These Demon Beasts acknowledged a universally recognized leader—Ancestor Dragon Ganakthysis, dubbed the Dragon Ancestor by the Dragon race.

The Ancestor Dragon led the mighty Demon Beasts of the Endless Forest to continually expand through spatial rifts, intent on conquering all worlds.

The march of the Demon Beast armies naturally reached the bountiful realm of Divine Favor, and war was inevitable.

Faced with such a formidable foe, the gods of Divine Favor were willing to set aside their racial grievances and unite. Thus, began the cataclysmic war beneath the Star Sea between eight thousand Heavenly God Level Demon Beasts under the Dragon Ancestor’s command and the gods of Divine Favor. It was this very battle that shattered the vast world of the Divine Favor realm, with three-quarters of its territory breaking apart and plummeting into the depths of the Star Sea.

Divine Favor suffered devastating losses, and so did the Ancestor Dragon, who was not only defeated in battle but was also pursued by the enraged Heavenly Gods, who led their armies deep into the Endless Forest, slaughtering almost all of the god-level Demon Beasts. Although the Ancestor Dragon barely survived, he was stripped of ninety-nine percent of his power and bound with divine chains on Great Snow Mountain in the Nansha Great Forest—now known as a forbidden zone of life.

Today, in the Endless Forest, aside from the top-ranking Di Ti, the other four Heavenly God Level Demon Beasts were born influenced by the will of the Endless Forest Plane.

As an old-fashioned god-level Demon Beast, Di Ti is the only fortunate survivor from the hands of the gods. Its strength is undeniable, but due to the immense shadow the gods cast over it, it doesn’t dare to step out of the Endless Forest, even after a million or ten million years.

The other god-level Demon Beasts are different. They have yet to experience the cruel blows of society and are constantly contemplating expansion. However, they are restrained by Di Ti’s power, which has prevented them from starting their campaign and baring their fangs toward Divine Favor.

When a Demon Beast ascends to god-level, the most significant change is the formation of a domain. The Old Blue Dragon’s domain is described as chaotic, just like its name, and it generates a chaotic force field affecting everything nearby. This is a main reason why the Demon Beasts of the Endless Forest differ from those in other worlds; anyone who enters this chaotic territory is influenced, leading to various strange transformations. Some changes are relatively common, while others are exceedingly deadly. Take the Old Blue Dragon, for instance, its magic skills are rendered completely ineffective under the influence of chaos, and Lu Hong was also affected, the power of his Blood Transverse Sky Skill neutralized completely.

"What about the other Demon Beasts?" Lu Hong, eager for more, quickly pressed on.

"Let me think, after the chaotic battle last time, these big shots have been quiet for the recent ten thousand years, you asking almost made me forget," the Old Blue Dragon smacked its lips, straining to recall the stories passed down from generation to generation by its ancestors.

"Oh, I remember now, the second-ranked Demon Beast is called Xiong Ni, and under its domain’s influence, all living beings fall into a frenzy of Bloodthirst."

"The fourth Demon Beast is... Xi Mu, its domain is nature and life, allowing all living beings to grow without limit. As for the fifth Demon Beast, I really can’t remember," the Old Blue Dragon shook its head.

"Tch," Lu Hong gave the other party a disdainful look, annoyed at them dropping the ball at a critical moment.

The Old Blue Dragon, unable to withstand the scornful look, complained, "Hey hey, these events happened so long ago, it’s normal to forget, if you really want to know, then look it up in your human records."

"If I could find it there, would I still ask you?"

As Lu Hong and the Old Blue Dragon were idly conversing, Qin Qin and Weiwei, two scheming women, once again found a solo contestant and successfully used their charms to earn his trust.

The two women timidly followed behind the man, eyeing the Space Ring in his hand with a glint of greed in their eyes.

The man who had taken in the two women also revealed a cold smile at the corner of his mouth.

A game of deception within deception, the victor undecided.

Five days had passed, and Lu Hong had finally recovered some of his foundation from the deficit. The Old Blue Dragon’s incessant whining truly gave him a headache. Now that he had the strength to protect himself, Lu Hong no longer delayed.

"Hey, I see you have three Space Rings, young man, must be quite wealthy, so how come you don’t even have a full set of magic equipment?" the Old Blue Dragon barely managed to crawl out of Shadow Gorge with Lu Hong’s help.

"Me? What else do I need to equip?" Lu Hong snorted, considering those things to be mere external objects.

"Hey, you underestimate magic equipment, you know. Your human, what’s it... the robust something or other army, they all wear uniform equipment, greatly resistant to magic and physical harm," the Old Blue Dragon pointed at Lu Hong’s bare neck, "At the very least, you should get a magic necklace, inscribe it with two magic marks, one for brute strength and another for revival, it will be a significant improvement for you."

The Old Blue Dragon remembered the scene when Lu Hong was being trounced by a Water Ze Beast, easily identifying Lu Hong’s lack of strength, making it difficult for him to gain the upper hand in close combat, and making him an easy target.

"I was very strong before, just had a little... mishap," as the Old Blue Dragon’s wings were severely injured, Lu Hong escorted it on foot through the marsh, constantly vigilant for potential dangers.

"Hehe, newbie, got your bloodline taken away, right?" the Old Blue Dragon had exceptional eyesight, and no one knew how it detected that.

"I originally thought you were all talk, but turns out you’ve got quite the unique eye too."

"Of course!" Boasted the old blue dragon, feeling extremely proud, and continued to display his abilities, "Although your level isn’t high, I must say, you have a solid foundation. For someone at your Second Transition level five to have maxed out all three specializations, I have to admit, you’ve got some talent."

"There you’re wrong, I’ve never trained," Lu Hong chuckled and simply shook his head in response to the old blue dragon’s persistent questions, avoiding the topic. This was his biggest secret, and perhaps his only secret. Slaying monsters could level him up; as for his transmigrator business, it hardly mattered. In Lu Hong’s step-by-step exploration of this world, it felt quite different from the game, seemingly unremarkable, yet filled with all sorts of secrets that were not accessible to him in the game.

As for this leveling up by slaying monsters, in the short term, it didn’t really do him much good, even having the opposite effect at times. In the journey from the mid to late Second Transition, countless prodigies would surpass him, while he could only slowly accumulate experience from slaying monsters, possibly even slower than normal meditation.

However, once he endured to the point of advancing, starting with the Third Transition, the advantage of Lu Hong’s experience bar would start to show. Ordinary Third Transition powerhouses found each progression extremely difficult, and some, despite giving their all, could only mark time or couldn’t even break through to the Third Transition at all. Lu Hong didn’t have to worry about this problem. He just needed to keep killing monsters, gaining experience. Even if the experience gained was minimal, there would come a day when he would level up. It could be said that not only for the Third Transition, but breaking through to the Heavenly God Level for him was a matter of certainty.

"Tch~" The old blue dragon, tired of questioning only to be met with silence from Lu Hong, finally spat out in contempt, "You must be bluffing me. What other methods of leveling up could you humans possibly have besides meditation?"

"Guess!"

Just as Lu Hong’s voice fell, a tremor suddenly came from the ground, and in the Endless Forest, those towering trees collapsed along with the opening chasms in the ground as even the sky changed tumultuously in response to a roar of anger.

"Chaos is stirring!" Exclaimed the old blue dragon, promptly casting a levitation spell, and lifted both himself and Lu Hong slightly off the ground, allowing the crack that had opened beneath them to pass by.

The vast marsh was drained dry by the swallowing abyss, while the old blue dragon, amidst the chaos of the angry roar, suddenly erupted in a burst of dazzling blue light.

"Ha ha ha, ha ha ha." Feeling the change within himself, the old blue dragon laughed maniacally, "The era of magic has returned!"

This upheaval of chaos seemed to have altered the original set of rules, and the magic power within the old blue dragon gradually awoke, his entire body radiating a deep blue light.

"Roar!" A dragon’s roar echoed for thousands of miles, leaving no doubt as to the old blue dragon’s level twelve peak strength.

As for Lu Hong, he didn’t feel much. Could it be that the rules of chaos did not affect him?

"Life Bloom!" The old blue dragon casually spoke in draconic, and the wounds torn by the marsh beast rapidly healed, his wings flapping wildly as he soared freely through the sky, "The era of the blue dragons has come!"

Once the old blue dragon had calmed down a bit, he suddenly swooped towards Lu Hong, a glint of murderous intent in his deep, dragon eyes, "Kid, I, the seventh elder of the blue dragon clan, am a figure of stature."

Faced with the old blue dragon’s sudden change, Lu Hong’s expression darkened again, "What, you want to kill me to silence me?"

"Haha, how could I?" The old blue dragon laughed, "Just teasing you, come on, let’s go steal treasures from the blue dragon territory."

With that, the old blue dragon carried Lu Hong on his back, moving like a streak of blue light across the sky, enhanced by magic power.

Before they got far, a giant rift tore open in the sky, and a huge grey eye stared intently at Lu Hong on the back of the old blue dragon.

"Fuck! Ch... Chaos?!" The old blue dragon stared at the eye in the sky, his heart almost stopping.

"Lord Chaos, I’ve always been obedient. I’ll set up a shrine for you once I get home, offering prayers to you every day. Please, don’t kill me!"

"Silence!" A piercing low growl descended from the sky, and the old blue dragon shuddered as if struck by a deadly blow, dropping from the sky in a daze.

"Hey hey, don’t you die on me. We’re so high up; if we fall, we’ll be smashed into a meat pie!" Lu Hong quickly climbed onto the dragon’s head, desperately slapping it.

"I bloody know!" The old blue dragon managed to speak human language as he summoned a spell just before crashing, barely saving both their lives.

Lu Hong jumped off the dragon’s back, his heart pounding, and looked up at the huge eyeball in the sky.

And Chaos at this moment was also looking at Lu Hong, letting out a suppressed growl, "Blood Transverse Sky! Lackey of the gods!"
