Chapter 194: Chapter 183: The Timid Blue Dragon and the Ferocious Water Marsh Beast

"Hey, Mr. Tu, you still haven’t told me why that water rhinoceros breathes fire?"

"Exactly, and are you sure it was spewing fire? Not a colored water jet?"

The incessant questioning from the two women nearly drove Lu Hong insane. He swore that if he had to do it over, he would definitely not agree to team up with these two women. Weren’t they shy just a moment ago? How come they all of a sudden have so much to say? Getting comfortable too fast?

"I already told you, the demon beasts in the Endless Forest are different from those outside."

"How are they different? They look pretty much the same to me?" Xi Mu, with her big, innocent, watery eyes, looked at Lu Hong for help.

"Good gracious, where are they the same?" Lu Hong casually pointed at a hundred-meter-tall tree beside them: "Have you ever seen trees this thick, this tall, in Shen’en or your hometown?"

"I have." Druid girl Qin Qin chimed in, "The Elf King’s Court is built upon such giant trees, didn’t you know?"

"Uh..." Lu Hong really didn’t know about the situation at the Elf King’s Court. The game he played in the past had only expanded to include the Beastman Empire’s instance, and the Elf King’s Court seemed like the next expansion pack. Unfortunately, Lu Hong never got the chance to enjoy it before he was forcedly transported here. Curse that competitive competition!

"So, there’s not much difference between here and the outside after all." Xi Mu made her final summary of the argument, and Lu Hong rolled his eyes. Okay, these two really hadn’t prepared at all for entering the Endless Forest.

Amid the noise and chatter along the way, Lu Hong finally found traces of the water zeal beast deep in the marshland. The mission to hunt the water zeal beast was brought by the girls; Lu Hong had encountered one in the Frostleaf Forest, and it seemed that that water zeal beast was even a future pet of Lock Fan.

As for the water zeal beast this time, it was much more ferocious than the one from Shen’en; the nearby scattered broken stones and the white bones of the giant demon beasts showed that it was certainly not to be trifled with.

"Mr. Tu... I... Do we really have to hunt it down?" Qin Qin and Xi Mu clung to each other, shaking in their boots, clearly terrified by the corpses scattered all around.

"Of course, the level of the water zeal beast in the mission is between four and six, and as long as we’re not too unlucky, I feel confident about taking on a level five water zeal beast. As for a level six... well, then we’ll just have to run."

Once the plan was fixed, Lu Hong began to slowly make his way through the rugged ravine in the marshland, while the two girls adamantly refused to go in and stayed put.

The traits of the water zeal beast had not changed much under the chaotic influence of the Endless Forest, and its inherent properties remained unchanged as well. The only difference was its bloodline.

Normally, water zeal beasts would contain a thin line of Dragon Blood, making them naturally much stronger than ordinary demon beasts, but this water zeal beast in the Endless Forest was crazily preying upon dragons. Originating from dragons, yet surpassing them.

By the way, dragons are a common creature in the Endless Forest, with all sorts of dragons, and levels fluctuating between one and twelve, a huge variance.

You might kick over a low-level green dragon with one foot, turn around, and run into another level twelve peak dragon, and there is absolutely no difference in appearance between the two.

Therefore, hunting dragons is like gambling with your life.

At the end of the secluded ravine, the petite water zeal beast was about to feast, enjoying the dying blue dragon it had dragged back to its cave.

The poor old blue dragon, having fallen from the sky to the ground to have a drink, ended up being pounced upon by the water zeal beast lurking in the dark.

Long accustomed to hunting large dragons, the water zeal beast had a very effective method for dealing with dragons. Its teeth had become incredibly sharp due to the mutations in the Endless Forest. Though still a water-attributed demon beast, it had traded its magic talent for a higher level of combat instinct. Its razor-sharp teeth, evolved over a long period, could easily tear through the skin of a giant dragon.

The first target of the water zeal beast after climbing onto the dragon was to slash their wings, rendering them incapable of flight.

The water zeal beast, preoccupied with the delicious feast before its eyes, completely missed Lu Hong’s stealthy approach. It was the old blue dragon, in its despair, who found a glimmer of hope and shouted out, "Look, your delivery has arrived!"

"Huh?" The water zeal beast was baffled. Dragons capable of human speech could also communicate their words directly to demon beasts unimpeded. The water zeal beast was bewildered at the mention of a delivery, and then realized the movement behind it.

"Fuck you, idiot!" Lu Hong cursed at the old blue dragon, as he brought down the Lone Peak Twin Swords, laden with overwhelming Blood Qi, fiercely on the water zeal beast’s leg.

"Ow!" Not having much in the way of defense, the water zeal beast let out a scream of pain when suddenly struck. Its sharp tail lashed out viciously at Lu Hong.

Planting his twin swords firmly into the ground, Lu Hong absorbed the impact of the tail whip, which left his body aching all over.

While the water zeal beast was dazed, it turned around and charged fiercely at Lu Hong.

"Blood Transverse Sky!" Lu Hong shouted furiously, and a rivulet of blood tore through the sky, bringing down a... a spring of water?

"Damn it!" Lu Hong knew about the suppression of higher planes in the Endless Forest and was aware of the robustness of the spatial planes here, but he never imagined his skills would be weakened to such an extent. How could his powers, boosted by the War God’s Divine Blood, be as weak as tap water?

Lu Hong’s shout did indeed startle the water beast, which was seeing such powerful yet small creature for the first time. It had anticipated some formidable move from its opponent, but all it got was a pitiful stream of water splashing on its head, which was deeply disappointing and felt like an insult!

The water beast’s claws and sturdy tail launched a relentless attack on Lu Hong, who could only defend passively in the face of the creature’s fury, barely blocking the attacks with the support of his Blood Qi.

As for the old blue dragon, it took the chance during the battle to sneak away.

"Like hell I’ll let you escape!" Lu Hong certainly wouldn’t let the old blue dragon get its way and led the water beast closer to it.

"Idiot, save yourself if you can. It’s not easy for these old bones to escape; you hold it off, and I’ll call the dragons to rescue you later!" The old blue dragon was shocked and quickly made a promise: "If you can ensure my safe escape, I can promise you anything from the treasure trove of the blue dragons."

"I trust you for shit, fight it with me if you don’t want to die!" Lu Hong was feeling increasingly strained. Damn it, things had never gone smoothly when dealing with this creature.

"I’m only level three, and it’s at least level five to start. I’m not doing this." The old blue dragon struggled to get up and desperately tried to crawl out of the mountain ravine, but its massive body couldn’t fly due to torn wings, and it got stuck, unable to move forward or back.

"Idiot." Lu Hong cursed under his breath and frantically mobilized his inner strength, using a full-powered Blood Qi Shockwave strike to barely push the water beast back.

"You’re the idiot. Quick, help me pull my body out, and I’ll help you fight it." The old blue dragon had been thrown down into the ravine by the water beast and, knowing it couldn’t escape on its own, had no choice but to confront it alongside Lu Hong.

Lu Hong wasted no time in talking. Although the helper was somewhat weak, it was better than nothing; any additional strength increased the odds of victory.

Blood Qi transformed into blades striking the mountainsides, finally allowing the old blue dragon to catch its breath and pull back half of its body.

"Huff, huff, that nearly killed me." The old blue dragon was relieved, then turned to Lu Hong: "I am the seventh elder of the blue dragon race. If you can save me from the maw of this fierce beast, I assure you that henceforth you can walk sideways through this domain."

"Walk sideways my ass, cast your magic to distract it now!" Seeing the water beast charging, Lu Hong was in no mood to banter.

"Oh, right, got it." Although the old blue dragon’s level was low, its magic power was a genuine peak of level twelve. In next to no time, high-level magic weakened by several folds showered down like rain on the water beast and Lu Hong, barely noticeable to the latter if not for the large size of the droplets.

"You jackass!" Struggling to hold off the water beast’s claws with the Lone Peak Twin Swords, Lu Hong fought on with a face turning crimson, realizing he might not be able to win and might have to run!

"I...," the old blue dragon couldn’t bear the humiliation, grumbling, "Isn’t this damn chaos to blame? Otherwise, would I be pushed to such dire straits by this little water beast?"

"Blood Explosion!" Without retreating, Lu Hong resorted to a move he was most reluctant to use, sacrificing half of his Blood Qi to trade for a powerful attack.

The Blood Explosion was like an intercontinental missile, bursting through the ravine and causing the entire chasm to quake. The water beast at the center of the explosion was smashed into the mountainside, nearly knocked unconscious.

The old blue dragon didn’t fare well either, having already lost half its life, and now the sudden explosion nearly laid it to eternal rest.

"Good... impressive skills, young hero! Hurry and fire a few more to finish off this water beast!" Though also fearful of another blast as powerful as the last, the old blue dragon knew surviving was the only way past this life or death moment.

"Finish off... finish off my ass." Lu Hong’s whole body spasmed as he leaned against a wall and swallowed a handful of Magic Potions to recover from his deficit. That Blood Explosion really hurt, and the cost of his Blood Qi wasn’t the same as a mere loss; it would take him at least ten days to recuperate.

"You’re on your own. I’m getting out of here." Lu Hong took a deep breath and immediately turned to run. As for the old blue dragon? He might as well pretend he hadn’t seen it!

"You little shit, how can you leave me to die!" The old blue dragon was fuming with rage but could do nothing with its grievous injuries, weakly flinging its magic power at Lu Hong, which was akin to splashing bathwater on him.

Before Lu Hong could make it out of the ravine, a foot suddenly kicked out of the shadows, hitting him hard in the abdomen and sending him tumbling back into the ravine.

"Oh?" Seeing this, the old blue dragon cheered up and cursed with a laugh: "Damn it, thought you could escape, huh? Die with me!"

Lu Hong bore the pain and looked up to see Xi Mu and Qin Qin smiling down at him: "What’s the matter? You haven’t finished the task yet, where do you think you’re going?"

Confronted by the sneak attack from the two, Lu Hong’s expression turned dark. Lan’s words held true—never trust anyone in the Endless Forest!
