Chapter 166: Chapter 159: Disaster from the East (Part 6)

Hill stared at Lu Hong warily, reasoning that after the blood beast had been slashed by the Fire Master, the man who had escaped from within should not be too strong, but during the instant he made his move, she distinctly felt that he possessed remarkable combat strength.

Cliff slipped into the shadows and stealthily approached Lu Hong from behind.

Before he could strike, Lu Hong was already on guard, and his surging blood qi sent Cliff flying away.

"Ghost Leap!" Cliff steadied himself in mid-air and leaped towards Lu Hong, his dagger heading straight for his heart.

"Blood Qi Shockwave!" Unable to locate the precise position of Cliff, who was still in hiding, Lu Hong could only use this area skill to force him out.

"Dark Stab!" Cliff’s magic power surged, and his dagger emitted a dark glow, effortlessly tearing through the blood qi Lu Hong had released.

"Intimidate!" Lu Hong had been waiting for this moment. A fierce shout exploded, pausing the dagger at his back. Cliff’s mind wavered slightly and though he recovered in the blink of an eye, the delay in seizing the moment of attack caused him to miss the opportunity to ambush. Lu Hong turned around, and the Blood Holy Sword drew a cross that forced Cliff to retreat repeatedly.

"Are you alright?" Hill threw a punch at Lu Hong, intercepting his chase after Cliff.

Cliff took a few steps back and looked down at the wound on his chest cut by the sword edge, saying in a deep voice, "I’m fine."

From the brief exchange, Hill and Cliff became more cautious around Lu Hong. This guy seemed to be quite formidable.

Lu Hong smiled, "Was it the Fire Master who awakened me just now?"

"Yes," Cliff said sternly, "I didn’t expect that he would be willing to become nourishment for someone else."

"Thanks to him, otherwise I would have died without a doubt." The recent experience truly terrified Lu Hong—if the Fire Master had not chosen to use the Golden Divine Fire to awaken him, he would have perished along with the blood beast.

"You’re wrong, you’re still going to die today without a doubt," Cliff roared softly, "Shadow Ghost Realm!"

Night Chief Cliff’s magic power surged, and the scenery around them suddenly changed. Lu Hong felt as though he had fallen into a pitch-black abyss, seeing not a single ray of light.

This was the Night Chief’s great skill after reaching the Third Transition Phase, summoning the projection of the Ghost Realm. The Ghost Realm was the final abode for ghosts, which were different from souls. Souls remaining intact meant the person was not yet dead and could retain memories from their life, but ghosts did not remember who they once were.

The howling sounds echoed around Lu Hong, one , two , three ... until they merged into a cacophony around him.

Lu Hong didn’t move, letting the invisible ghosts roam around him—these were merely his opponent’s tricks. Cliff had once again used the darkness to approach Lu Hong, waiting for the moment he let his guard down to deliver a lethal strike.

The Shadow Ghost Realm’s skill couldn’t be broken by brute force, at least for now.

It wasn’t like the Fire Master’s secret technique, which required a continuous supply of magic power. When summoning the projection of the Ghost Realm, Cliff had already supplied sufficient magic power.

Lu Hong closed his eyes, because he couldn’t see anything anyway.

Listening carefully to the changes around him, although Cliff had minimized his breathing, Lu Hong’s sharp senses still detected a trace of him.

"Found you." Lu Hong’s mouth curved slightly upwards. A glint of cold light flashed in Cliff’s eyes, and his two daggers whirled towards Lu Hong.

Clang, clang, clang ...

The continual clashing rang incessantly in the dark Ghost Realm.

Hill was also in the Ghost Realm, and through the clash of blades, she could also determine the current position of the two men. But due to the darkness, she dared not act rashly and could only wait patiently.

Cliff used every trick he knew, his two daggers leaving countless afterimages in the air.

Even then, Cliff grew increasingly alarmed as every attack that rebounded numbed his hands, and even using magic power to suppress it did not prevent his arm strength from being compromised.

"What kind of monster are you?!" Cliff felt some wetness in the palm of his hand—his palms were splitting.

"What do you think?" The moment Cliff spoke, Lu Hong seized his location and launched a fierce counterattack.

The Shadow Ghost Realm was not very effective against Lu Hong; Cliff was hard-pressed to support himself alone and quickly retracted the skill, calling out to Hill, "Come and help now!"

As vision returned, Hill let out a dragon-like growl, with the Earth Element transforming into numerous stone spikes shooting towards Lu Hong.

"Blood Qi Shockwave!"

The explosive force of blood qi from Lu Hong’s body dissolved all of Hill’s attacks, and before he could even catch his breath, Hill closed in and they fought fiercely in close quarters.

As they clashed, Hill also began to feel the same way as Cliff—what the hell kind of monster was this?

After all, I am a woman who has devoured dragon strength, not to mention anything else, just by the force alone I shouldn’t be weaker than a typical dragon, right?

Hill, although not at a disadvantage, knew from her years of experience that she was being slightly suppressed. It wasn’t obvious at the moment, but if it continued, she would undoubtedly be defeated.

Of course, Cliff wasn’t just watching either. Taking the opportunity while Hill was focusing her attack on the front, he kept looking for chances to sneak attack Lu Hong from the side.

The teamwork between the two was very effective. Within a mere five minutes, several wounds from daggers emerged on Lu Hong’s body.

Dark green blood slowly seeped out from those wounds, looking extremely horrifying.

As a former professional player, Lu Hong never expected an assassin to not poison their daggers.

Naturally, the Angry Blood Warrior wasn’t overly afraid of poison, especially since he was currently under the augmentation of the Bloodthirst state, which gave him significantly stronger control over blood.

"Detachment!" Lu Hong mobilized his Blood Qi power and quickly expelled the deadly poison that Cliff had injected into his body. Each drop of poison that fell to the ground was highly corrosive.

"Huff, huff..." Hill shook her numb arms. Damn, this is hard to fight.

"Are you really not a Third Transition powerhouse?" Hill’s ingrained judgment of power levels began to waver because of Lu Hong.

"I am not," Lu Hong said with a smile. "If I were at the Third Transition, you two would have been dead a long time ago."

"Hmph!" Cliff’s figure became illusory: "Why waste words with him? He won’t last much longer. Let’s join forces and kill him!"

Hill nodded and launched another attack at Lu Hong.

Indeed, facing two Third Transition Peak opponents at the same time, Lu Hong was at a disadvantage. Becoming a Blood Beast and slaying enemies, plus the experience that the Fire Master gave him at the end, allowed him to skip two levels. Now, he was a qualified Second Transition Level 5 powerhouse. If it were just a fight against either Hill or Cliff, Lu Hong was certain he could win. But reality didn’t allow it!

Alright, since he couldn’t kill them, Lu Hong began to think about retreating.

"This kid wants to run!" Cliff noticed Lu Hong’s intentions right away and bellowed: "He cannot be allowed to leave, or there will be endless trouble!"

Hill desperately drove her magic power and a massive earthy yellow dragon rose from the ground, lunging fiercely at Lu Hong.

Cliff threw his dagger into the sky, splitting it into millions of sharp fragments, sealing off Lu Hong’s surroundings and leaving him no way out.

Faced with the joint attack from both, Lu Hong’s expression became serious; he knew that these two envoys were ready to fight to the death.

If that’s the case, then I’ll fight to the death, too!

The Blood Qi power burned within Lu Hong, boiling continuously.

The dual-wielded Blood Holy Swords merged into one and turned from red to black with the furious Blood Qi augmentation.

Lu Hong marched forward with the sword, and all the sharp blade fragments exploded along his path, leaving trails of blood on his body.

Hill’s summoned earth dragon arrived as expected, its massive head slowly closing in and pressing down on Lu Hong until he could barely breathe.

"Self-sacrifice strike!"

The Blood Holy Sword thrust forward, sending shockwaves through the earth dragon, which began to crumble inch by inch.

Hill, sustaining her skill, suffered backlash and spat out a mouthful of old blood, collapsing to the ground.

Breaking through the giant dragon with one sword, the force of the self-sacrifice strike didn’t end there. Lu Hong charged toward Cliff, carrying the momentum with him.

Cliff continuously maneuvered the sharp blade fragments to shred the space around Lu Hong, but he couldn’t stop him at all.

Faced with the choice to give his life for a kill, Cliff clearly panicked, attempting to retreat only to find that Lu Hong had already locked onto him with no room to escape!

Cliff gritted his teeth and took out his magic artifact—the Life-swapping Doll!

This was Cliff’s most treasured artifact, with only one purpose: to block one lethal attack for him.

"Die!" Lu Hong’s sword edge closed in, thrusting fiercely at Cliff.

With the explosion of the Life-swapping Doll, Cliff barely evaded Lu Hong’s lock, appearing next to Hill, shaken. Now it wasn’t Lu Hong who wanted to flee, but they were the ones contemplating retreat.

"Friend, we are just helpers hired by the Jin Family; we don’t necessarily have to intervene in the war over the Twinflower," Cliff signaled Hill and then addressed Lu Hong: "I think there isn’t any deep hatred between us, is there?"

"And then what?" Lu Hong took a deep breath. Having just broken both of their skills, he also suffered significant backlash. Now he had to forcefully suppress his own injuries. Since the self-sacrifice strike didn’t successfully kill Cliff, Lu Hong no longer had the chance to continue fighting.

Fortunately for Lu Hong, Hill and Cliff were also frightened by the skills from just now.
