Chapter 1645: Chapter 1645: Drying Sun’s First Battle
Li Yao’s battle completely established his prestige and shattered the myth of Dalkhan in the minds of the High Elves.
In this battle, Li Yao demonstrated extremely formidable combat power, and Li Yao is only a Race-level Chief. What the Withered Sun Legion is eagerly anticipating is how Liya will be after becoming a World-level Chief.
The early battles were just to deplete cannon fodder, with players using their armies to ruthlessly harvest the Undead Army blocking the front of the city walls.
The great battle lasted nearly two days, and finally, the army in front of the city gates was cleared away. Moreover, after this great battle, the majority of participating players had achieved esteemed reputation levels.
Players could now purchase some valuable items as they wished, and morale was high.
Especially the Necromancer players, who seemed to have reached paradise. Their innate abilities allowed their armies to start snowballing slightly, and even if piles of skeletons were useless to ordinary players, they were all excellent materials for creating undead to Necromancer players.
Now the Necromancer players were starting to assemble undead, using skeletons to build them into shapes they liked before infusing them with Soul Fire.
During the two days of battle, experts had already used countless skeletons to assemble bone monsters, including beasts and giant skeleton creatures.
Some players even combined them into bone dragons, but these trash materials were not actual Dragon Bones, just dragon-shaped, devoid of a dragon’s might, merely a facade.
But to the players, they were already very powerful. Undead players even wished for these undead to never end. Unfortunately, no matter how many undead there are, there will always be a time when they are all killed.
This included players who had converted sides and their armies. Needless to say, this was Squid trying to cause trouble for the Withered Sun Legion and Li Yao.
But just as Li Yao predicted, Squid completely misunderstood the true difference between both sides, failing to inflict any losses on the Withered Sun Legion or Li Yao.
Players participating in the event directly took care of it. Li Yao didn’t even pay attention to the matter, nor did he know if Squid was frustrated enough to vomit blood. He regarded Li Yao as an opponent, but in reality, others had already cleaned up without Li Yao having to lift a finger.
On the morning of the third day of the battle, the army was finally about to launch an attack on the city walls.
The army advanced, and the Drying Sun also began to approach the city walls, with the tension ready to escalate.
"Damn it, don’t think that just because you’ve cleared some cannon fodder, you can assume Daisom is unprotected. Let me show you the power of the Gargoyle Legion; I haven’t been idling my time here all these years." Dalkhan, standing on the city wall, waved his hand.
Countless gargoyles took flight from the mountain walls, the city walls, and house rooftops, like a cloud of darkness; it was difficult to estimate how many tens of thousands there were.
At the same time, players with air forces were also letting their air units take to the skies. Their only mission requirement was to destroy as many enemy gargoyles as possible, as they were the elite of Daisom, offering significant military exploits. Players were happy to take on the unlimited task of slaughtering as many foes as they could.
Even players with flying pets summoned their own flying pets, determined to kill as many as they could.
Li Yao’s personal air force also took off, but their primary goal wasn’t to protect the Drying Sun.
The land battle hadn’t started yet, but a massive aerial war had already erupted. This was the true clash of elites, not cannon fodder.
"Activate the Drying Sun’s shield, level one." The magical protective shield of the Drying Sun was divided into three levels.
The first level had the weakest defensive power, but of course, the energy consumption was also the least. It was generally adequate to fend off the attacks of the gargoyles, unless the Drying Sun was completely surrounded, in which case the first-level shield was still quite formidable.
No one knew how long the battle would last; they were already outside the coverage of the High-Elf Barrier, so the Drying Sun needed to conserve every bit of energy.
Li Yao sneered, "Let’s wear down fifty thousand of your gargoyles as a strike."
Li Yao commanded half his Self-explosive Bugs, which amounted to fifty thousand. He did not lack energy units; after all, although the Necromancer players obtained many skeletons from the two-day battle, ninety-five percent of the skeletons were sent to the brood mother for conversion into energy units. Now, all of Li Yao’s nests were fully producing various units.
The Self-explosive Bugs were insects but very small in size, so small they could be overlooked if not careful. While they were fragile, they were quick and agile.
And the gargoyles’ attacks on these little bugs, releasing undead bullets, were akin to using a cannon to shoot mosquitoes, hardly ever hitting them.
The air echoed with the flapping of wings as countless minuscule Self-explosive Bugs neared their targets. Their objectives were clear: to burrow into the interiors of the gargoyles.
Their small size made them a nuisance for the gargoyles.
The most aggravating aspect of these bugs was that even when they were killed, they caused a terrifying explosion. Many gargoyles, after striking down the bugs that approached them, still got caught in the explosion, twisting and falling.
More Self-explosive Bugs burrowed into the bodies of the gargoyles, many reaching the energy cores of the gargoyles and detonating.
As a result, tens of thousands of gargoyles exploded in succession in the air, delivering a blow to the Gargoyle Legion and instilling confidence in the players and the Withered Sun Legion.
"All ranged units near the sides listen up; your target is to clear out the gargoyles interfering with the Magic Crystal Cannon. The central ranged units should conserve strength and mana, selectively striking at the gargoyles attacking the barrier. Ground troops remain on standby for now."
The trump card of the Withered Sun Legion was finally taking revenge personally, causing great excitement.
The only surprise was that Li Yao’s air force didn’t protect the Drying Sun which was getting closer to the city walls, but instead hovered above the main legion in the front. Their goal wasn’t to inflict casualties but to protect the main land forces of the Withered Sun Legion from being slaughtered by the air forces.
As the Drying Sun advanced further, it had left the players’ air force formation and plunged into enemy territory, surrounded by countless gargoyles. The gargoyles naturally wanted to massacre those on the ship, but the magical protective shield thwarted them, stopping their attacks in their tracks.
"Based on tests, the first-level shield can fully withstand this level of attack, so you can rest assured, sir," Morning Breeze said.
Li Yao nodded, "Don’t be complacent; be ready to upgrade the shield at any time. Energy can be bought, but people, once lost, are too great a loss."
"Yes, sir." Morning Breeze hastily ran towards the control room below.
"Dragon Queen, you need to hold off Dalkhan; don’t let him threaten the Drying Sun," Li Yao instructed. "Just focus on this task."
"Rest assured, master, I already have my dragon presence suppressing Dalkhan alone; he can definitely feel it," the Black Dragon Queen replied.
Dalkhan could certainly feel it, like a thorn in his back. He knew that at such a close distance, if another major battle broke out and he got entangled by the Black Dragon Queen, it would be highly likely that Li Yao would shoot him dead. How could he dare make a rash move? All he could do was rely on his army...
