Chapter 1639: Chapter 1639: Great Harvest

Li Yao was taken aback: "Oh? Aren’t you researching the principles of the Ghost Ship’s flight and its ability to traverse space? Why are you concerned about other things now?"

The Magician smiled awkwardly. "Commander, you may not know, but while our Magician team consists of top experts in Magic and Alchemy, we’re not well-versed in Undead Alchemy. We’ll need the Alchemists from the Undercity to join us for deeper research before we can achieve results. However, this Magical Protective Shield is also very important. Just think, Commander—what’s the difference between having a Magical Shield on a warship and not having one?"

"I get your point. But installing the Magic Shield—will it affect the Ghost Ship in any way? You have to understand, we’re about to launch our assault on Daisom. Any unexpected issues would be disastrous. After all, the Ghost Ship might play a crucial role in this assault," Li Yao questioned.

Having a Magic Shield has obvious advantages. As long as the shield’s energy isn’t depleted, there’s no need to worry about the main body being damaged at all. Even though the Ghost Ship itself has formidable defenses, the soldiers on the deck aren’t protected without a Magic Shield.

"Rest assured, Commander. Installing the Magic Shield won’t conflict with the Ghost Ship’s structure. I can guarantee it will only enhance its performance," the Magician assured confidently.

"Alright, you make the arrangements. It’s not like we’re short on funds," Li Yao waved his hand dismissively.

"I promise you’ll be satisfied with the Ghost Ship’s modifications," the Magician said excitedly before heading off.

"How’s the harvest assessment coming along?" Li Yao asked the key question. While the Withered Sun Legion was wealthy, it still couldn’t afford to have no income. This time, whether it was capturing the Tower of the Windwalker or seizing the Ghost Ship, a significant haul of supplies was inevitable.

The Tower of the Windwalker was the second-most vital Undead stronghold after Daisom. Its importance surpassed even that of the Solar Corona Temple. After all, it was an excellent port where ships supporting Daisom from the Lich King docked.

The Tower of the Windwalker was truly a strategic location of absolute importance. It had once been a gathering hub for many of Daisom’s Undead forces.

Now occupied by the Lich Marshal, who had control of the Ghost Ship, all the spoils naturally became the Lich Marshal’s possession.

Furthermore, the Lich Marshal had angered the King of the Bone Lands. This time, when he fled, he undoubtedly took all his belongings with him.

The Ghost Ship had multiple levels, and when the Withered Sun Legion seized it, they discovered that two of those levels were filled with various materials. The richness of the haul was evident—it was far more substantial than what they had gained from the Solar Corona Temple.

Morning Breeze beamed and said, "Commander, this harvest will absolutely exceed your expectations. I was blown away when I saw the statistics."

"Now you’ve piqued my interest. Let’s hear it," Li Yao said, sitting up attentively.

Morning Breeze smiled mischievously and said, "This time, our gold coin income isn’t much, just about a thousand gold coins or so. However, because there were so many silver coins, we needed several rooms to store them."

Li Yao spat out in shock—one thousand gold coins were considered "not much"? What amount would count as significant? At this stage, having over a hundred gold coins would make most players wealthy. A typical person would be considered relatively well-off with twenty or so gold coins.

A thousand gold coins were a massive fortune. To put it into perspective, that amount would cover the Withered Sun Legion’s quarterly military expenses.

Yet, after a moment, Li Yao regained his composure. A thousand gold coins might seem like a lot when looking at it from an individual’s perspective. But for the Withered Sun Legion as a whole, it was just a small windfall.

Maintaining such a massive army came at a steep cost. Li Yao had negotiated with the leaders of several High Elven factions to secure one year of military support. Beyond that, the Withered Sun Legion would have to rely on its control over Ghost Land to sustain itself.

After all, no matter how wealthy the High Elves were, they couldn’t provide unlimited funding to the Withered Sun Legion. The other four legions had already achieved self-sufficiency, so the Withered Sun Legion couldn’t be an exception.

Li Yao understood now why Morning Breeze downplayed the amount. Compared to the initial funding and one year’s worth of military expenses allocated to the Withered Sun Legion, one thousand gold coins didn’t seem extraordinary.

Morning Breeze continued, "Next, we have a tremendous amount of alchemy materials, gemstones, and rare minerals. The quantities are too vast to calculate at the moment, but there’s no point in converting their value into gold coins. That would be meaningless. Our legion is in urgent need of rebuilding, and establishing Ghost Land requires these resources. Selling them for gold coins is almost out of the question. Commander, you’ve seen the Ghost Ship—it has two full layers of premium supplies. Calling it a treasure trove wouldn’t be an exaggeration."

Li Yao nodded, agreeing with Morning Breeze’s assessment. The lingering effects of the Death Shroud over Ghost Land hadn’t faded yet. Revitalizing the territory would require not only time but also copious amounts of Magical Materials to arrange arrays for catalysis.

To make Ghost Land a habitable place for the Withered Sun Legion’s people, investments were unavoidable.

This haul could indeed alleviate their immediate needs.

"It seems this Lich Marshal at least had some sense of organization—definitely a capable individual," Li Yao remarked.

"Commander, you should’ve seen the Lich Marshal’s face. When our Mages unraveled the seals guarding his treasures, he looked completely ashen," Morning Breeze said gleefully.

Li Yao chuckled. "Losing a lifetime’s worth of wealth like that—it’s no wonder he looked like he’d lost the will to live."

"To be fair, he had a sharp mind. He prepared plenty of alchemy materials, though most were designed for the Undead. Our Magicians and Alchemists don’t want to touch those," Morning Breeze stated.

That was understandable. Undead Alchemy was often gruesome and cruel, involving things like corpses, organs, and souls—things completely unappealing to orthodox Alchemists.

"That’s fine. Package those materials and sell them to the Undercity in exchange for what we need. You’re better at handling this than I am. When the Ghoul City Mission Team arrives, take your people and negotiate with them. Don’t bother asking for my input," Li Yao said, waving his hand.

The critical matters resolved, the Barrier over the Tower of the Windwalker was now restored.

The army had assembled within three days.

When Li Yao saw the Ghost Ship again, his eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.

"Are you sure all you did was install a Magic Shield? Why does the entire ship look so different?"

It wasn’t Li Yao’s fault for being so shocked. The Ghost Ship looked completely transformed. Not only had its gray hull changed to the High Elves’ favored gold and red hues, but the entire design now gave off a distinct High Elf aesthetic.

The Magician scratched his head awkwardly. "The original ship was just too ugly. The Undead have no sense of aesthetics. They’d taken such a fine Ghost Ship and made it look hideous. So, while installing the Magic Shield, I took the liberty of changing its appearance. I promise this won’t affect the Drying Sun’s performance."

The Lich Marshal muttered under his breath, "What a pointless waste of materials! All this just to change the appearance? Those resources could’ve created two or three legions of Skeleton Generals! Truly wasteful—people don’t feel the pinch when it’s not their own materials."

The Magician rolled his eyes disdainfully. "Ignorant and vulgar... so utterly crude..."

The Magician immediately launched into a rant at the Lich Marshal, spouting High Elf ideals about beauty and value in contrast to the Undead’s utilitarian approach.

Li Yao sighed and gave a direct order: "Move out."...
