Chapter 1634: Chapter 1634: Land of White Bones
Li Yao explained the overall situation in the guild’s core channel, and the core players of Starfire also understood the origin of the events.
"Mamma mia, that scared the hell out of me. I really thought that squid had sky-high abilities and could even pull over a werewolf army," Multifaceted Baby said sarcastically.
"And they dared to provoke us, thinking they were something special. Now it seems they’re just blustering idiots."
"This idiot clearly only got here by following the werewolf legion. They have no real sway over them. No wonder they had to change identities when they came to the Solar Corona Temple, now it makes sense."
"Everything makes sense now. They just acted on their own, only able to change identities to join the Scourge Undead side to threaten us."
"Threaten my ass. How many players can they bring, how many transformation items do they have? In the end, our boss is the best, didn’t even need us to act. He just issued a military merit task, and those idiots got killed by other players’ toys and couldn’t threaten us one bit."
"Opposing our boss, this squid really doesn’t know its limits."
Li Yao did not stop the members’ discussions and continued to handle various matters of the Withered Sun Legion after explaining the situation.
Being the legion commander wasn’t easy; it wasn’t just about leading a legion. The Withered Sun Legion also had a large civilian population, making him effectively an administrative officer.
He also needed to consider the long term, arrangements for strategic locations, distribution—a myriad of tasks where he needed to make the decisions.
But this was temporary; once things truly stabilized, he could naturally delegate management to others. However, since the Withered Sun Legion was newly formed, he had to emphasize his presence as the legion commander—discrete delegation was possible, but timing was crucial.
When the main force arrived, it was already a day later. In the distance, at the Tower of the Windwalker, everyone felt stirred by a wave of complex emotions.
This was once the location of the kingdom’s highest military command, and the ultimate place high elves who wished to defend the kingdom aspired to reach.
Now, the Windrunner’s Tower still stood firmly, shimmering faintly at the top, but it was occupied by the undead, and they were from the sub-dimension.
The Tower of the Windwalker was a fortress, relying on the mountains, with cliffs on three sides and only a wide mountain path at the front. To the back was an endless sea.
The Tower of the Windwalker is a symbol and an important magical lighthouse.
The Withered Sun Legion must capture this place for overseas supplies and trade to be transported to various parts of the Legion via this port.
If they still used the original port, it would be too distant. It held significant strategic value.
With the capture of the Solar Corona Temple, the Withered Sun Legion’s base was stable, and capturing the Tower of the Windwalker would fully activate foreign trade routes.
Therefore, this battle must not fail and must be fought. Daisom was the real tough fight.
Apparently, the vanguard had already fought a battle with the undead here, as there were still many corpses on the mountain path.
Quite a few mages were already using spells to project the Tower of the Windwalker’s image onto the sand table.
Through the sand table, the layout on the Tower of the Windwalker’s side was clearly visible.
"Very strong. This wave of undead from the sub-dimension could rival the Abyss of Death’s strength," Li Yao sighed.
"The main combatants are fully-armed skeleton warriors, looking like at least a million. Ghosts skilled in assassinations and causing fatal blows and mental attacks, five hundred thousand. Banshees, three hundred thousand, quite a large scale," Morning Wind marveled, "If we go for a strong attack, we’d probably both suffer heavy losses with them. Luckily, we are well-prepared."
"And this ghost ship is not to be underestimated. The magic crystal cannon on it shouldn’t be just for show; it’s probably a dimension-traversing super warship. Didn’t expect the undead to have advanced this far," Li Yao lamented.
Li Yao’s lament was justified. Whether it was the undead of the Scourge Legion, the sub-dimension, or the Abyss, their technology tree was more advanced than even the primary dimension.
The most impactful and terrifying are the air fortresses.
The abyssal undead and sub-dimension undead represent the ghost ship, capable of flying, operating on water, and underwater, equipped with formidable weaponry—it comes and goes like the wind, making it most daunting.
Then there’s the Scourge Legion’s sky city, more terrifying than the ghost ship—extremely solid, almost the aerial overlord, and capable of free movement.
The Scourge Legion excels in cross-boundary operations, with sky cities contributing significantly, especially when the Scourge started with few undead, mostly trash cannon fodder.
But with the sky city wreaking havoc across miles, pinpoint striking formidable targets, once taken, plagues naturally spread.
In comparison, other races are far inferior, relying mainly on airborne mounts.
Goblin airships and gnome flyers essentially rely on balloons, which is to say, using hot air balloons to lift the warship to the sky—slow, and very fragile.
Not to mention comparing with sky cities; even the ghost ship doing nothing could just crash into them and could wipe out two factions’ air forces.
The Mage City of Dalaran has flown into the sky, but mainly for fixed-point teleportation, unable to move at will.
"Alert, the ghost ship is coming over," suddenly a loud shout came.
Everyone looked up, and in the blink of an eye, the ghost ship floated shockingly into the air in front of the main legion.
"Such ignorant mortals. If I wanted to attack you, do you really think your vanguard could contend with the great lich?"
At this moment, a lich appeared on the deck, flanked by two vampire beauties who flared their wings enchantingly. The male lich was the one speaking.
"So it’s a lich over a thousand years old, still an undead creature, yet dares claim holiness?" Li Yao retorted mockingly.
"My great master will achieve demigod status in a hundred years. You mortals are incompetent," the vampire on the left said disdainfully.
"Ha ha ha, you aren’t even at the factional level, let alone world level, yet claim to become a demigod, truly laughable. Less nonsense, tell me why you’ve invaded the territory of our High Elf Kingdom," Li Yao coldly yelled.
"Oh, so that means you’re the legion commander of the Withered Sun Legion?" The lich finally looked at Li Yao seriously.
"Yes, I’m here to reclaim the territory we once played in. Now you have two choices: either die or scram," Li Yao was fully prepared and naturally confident.
"It seems the High Elf Kingdom has truly fallen, letting a wet-behind-the-ears brat take charge. But it doesn’t matter, as long as you keep your word. I’m from the Land of Bones, and I think this place suits me well. I’ll give you two options: either scram, or become undead under my command."...
