Chapter 1528: Chapter 1528: Exhilarating Kill
Even though the damage of Piercing Arrows is so-so, and its power can’t compare with a fully charged Charged Arrow or Dragon Strike Cannon, their quick release rate is undeniable, allowing them to be shot even without charging.
Furthermore, against such a massive monster, the multitude of damage numbers are simply blinding to all observers, forming a chain of glowing figures.
As the Dragon Beast howled in pain, a meteor appeared in the sky, striking directly on the head of the Dragon Beast.
The Dragon Beast had already suffered a substantial blow from the barrage of arrows; now, unexpectedly hit by the meteor, its hard shell on its head instantly shattered.
Its body became sluggish, and the force of its charge dramatically decreased.
Meanwhile, Li Yao activated a state, his body covered by a blue glow, significantly increasing his agility.
He decided not to charge up, shooting arrows one after the other directly at the Dragon Beast.
With its head damaged, Li Yao no longer needed to aim precisely at its eyes; any attack on the damaged part was a weak point.
A series of damage numbers kept popping up, as Li Yao demonstrated what it means to shoot five arrows in one second.
Swish, swish, swish, swish...
All the spectators saw were beams of light piercing through the Dragon Beast, followed by chunks of exploding numbers popping up continuously, then chains of meteors kept falling, causing massive damage to the Dragon Beast.
And given the meteor’s size as well as the power from gravitational inertia, the impact of each hit was considerable. By the fourth meteor strike to the head, the Dragon Beast was already down on the ground.
Struggling vainly to stand up, a few seconds on the ground would at most allow for a single Charged Arrow slash for others, but for Li Yao, it was enough time to unleash more than a dozen arrows, resulting in a series of meteor impacts.
In just a moment, Li Yao had battered the Dragon Beast beyond recognition. The damage numbers soared continuously, with so many that some were relegated to mere flashes in the corner of one’s eye. Otherwise, the screen full of damage numbers would obscure the view of the Dragon Beast’s actual condition.
The Dragon Beast was going mad. Although not as intelligent as the Five Colored Giant Dragons, it still possessed some wisdom from its Dragon Blood heritage. Pride inherited through its lineage made the humiliation intolerable, yet its attacks could never reach Li Yao.
The Dragon Beast roared in a frenzy, then took off into the air, shedding scales. It entered a berserk state from the outset, dropping red scales primed to explode upon impact.
But Li Yao’s agility, combined with jumping, successive steps producing lotus blossoms, and most importantly, the aid of the Propeller, allowed Li Yao’s evasive maneuvers to reach a whole new level.
Even without these enhancements, Li Yao’s skill would have easily allowed him to dodge what appeared to be a dense shower of explosive scales, let alone now.
The Dragon Beast’s takeoff might spell disaster for other ranged players, but for him, it did nothing but prolong its inevitable demise by a little while longer.
Li Yao, seemingly making no effort to dodge, simply adjusted the angle of his shots, his steps neither hurried nor slow, moving through the exploding Dragon Scales as if in a leisurely stroll.
Li Yao’s Arrows were also transformed into explosive ones, which had high single-target damage and additional blast damage.
While overall output against such large monsters was not as high as Piercing Arrows, explosive Arrows provided excellent impact and single-target damage, perfect for damaging specific body parts.
While fifteen arrows may seem a lot, Li Yao was able to shoot them in less than five seconds while constantly changing angles and dodging the explosive Dragon Scales. Although it wasn’t the five-arrows-per-second rate of stationary shooting, it still reached a precision rate of three arrows per second.
What shocked them even more was that, through the screen, the audience could clearly see that all fifteen Burst Arrows exploded just below the third bone spur on the left wing of the rampaging dragon-like creature, the location was precise to the last detail.
Moreover, although there was no meteor descending this time, there was a Starfire Burn attached, and within the silvery flames, there were faint traces of illusory red.
The commentators went on to explain the composition of the damage: the base damage of the Arrows, the explosive damage, the Starfire damage that came with no summoned meteor, and the additional damage from Li Yao’s Flame of Life Blessing.
Especially the last two types of Flame Burn, while seeming to do average damage, it should be known that the burning effect is continuous, and with multiple attacks, the effects can stack.
At this moment, the entire wing of the Dragon Beast was covered in a layer of silver flames with touches of fiery red, damage numbers kept popping out steadily, and they continued to increase with Li Yao’s attacks as the flames spread with each strike.
Even more shocking was the precision of the fifteen arrows, which finally caused the destruction of the Dragon Beast’s wing.
The rampaging dragon-like creature, shaking wildly and shedding scales, let out a pitiful scream and tumbled from the sky in a free fall.
This fall was a true, real free fall. Although the Dragon Beast’s own descents were violent, almost like a fall, a controlled fall with preparation was an entirely different concept from an uncontrolled fall without any preparation.
Boom, boom, boom...
A hundred-yard-long behemoth falling to the ground cannot be compared to a meteor of a few yards.
The entire Duel Field trembled wildly, and a huge crater appeared on the ground as a terrifying damage number of over two hundred thousand floated up.
The Dragon Beast fell from a great height, its wing hitting the ground and clearly breaking. It’s head also showed signs of being hit badly, clearly indicating that it was on the brink of total collapse.
Li Yao certainly didn’t miss this opportunity. With the trembling of the bowstring, a barrage of Arrows shot out incessantly.
Pop, pop, pop, crackle...
The damage numbers from the Piercing Arrows remained spectacular, and it was only when the Dragon Beast staggered to its feet again that everyone saw that one of its wings had been completely shattered by the fall, hanging limp against its body, totally useless.
Moreover, the severe impact of the fall caused a large number of scales to drop and explode, further enlarging the already massive crater.
The roar of the Dragon Beast, as if its throat had been damaged by the impact of the fall, sounded excruciatingly miserable to the ear.
It obviously could not take flight anymore. With one wing ruined and its head damaged, the rampaging dragon-like creature was left with no choice but to endure the beating.
Even when its body was intact, it couldn’t touch a single hair on Li Yao, let alone now.
It was only when the rampaging dragon-like creature lay dying on the ground that the audience realized, in less than three minutes—less than three minutes—the terrifying creature had been slain.
The audience simply couldn’t believe their eyes. Li Yao’s previous five-minute kill record had been shocking enough, a record that seemed despairing to many.
But after Li Yao switched to his preferred bow, in less than three minutes without the use of any props, he accomplished the kill, making it hard for them to accept it in their hearts, with the killing speed nearly halved...
