Both sides had gone mad. Ordinary soldiers didn’t know who Prairie Fire was; they were engaged in a genuine fight to the death, only to find out from their leader that it was all just a performance.

It would have been fine if they just overwhelmed the enemy with their attacks, but what a turn of events, the enemy had buried explosives.

Everyone was scared shitless, only to realize it was a sham.

Everyone was furious, not just with Li Yao, but even more so with their own leader. However, just as the two leaders screamed to kill Li Yao, and just as the soldiers got up to gather their attacks and drown Li Yao in them.

Li Yao gave a slight smile and took out the detonator he had used earlier, pressing the button straight away.

In a flash, the world exploded in noise.

Earth-shattering explosions resonated throughout the entire fortress, drawing the attention of everyone, regardless of what they were doing, and the entire fortress trembled with the blast.

Balls of fire burst forth, bringing with them a spray of countless shattered stones, iron sheets, and steel balls.

Countless people, once again, were swept away by the massive blast wave from the center of the explosions.

Those wearing plate armor or chain armor fared better; unless they were at the very center of the explosion or were unlucky enough to take a hit to a vital spot, they generally suffered only embarrassed light injuries or broken bones in places.

But it was bad luck for those with fewer defenses; even aside from the power of the explosion, just the shrapnel from those scattered stones could be lethal.

At the moment of the explosion, dark tendrils of energy madly danced around Li Yao, and with his Divine Eye, combined with the fact that he had placed the explosives himself, deliberately choosing areas less impacted by the explosion.

Li Yao’s figure flashed instantly to the back of the Defense Officer, delivering a direct slash.

The Defense Officer’s arms numb, his hands fractured, his body covered in wounds, and weaponless, he wanted to counterattack but he was utterly powerless. His body, shaken by the overwhelming force, could only passively endure Li Yao’s attacks.

Li Yao appeared and disappeared like a specter, each appearance accompanied by a dazzling flash of the blade.

After nine successive flashes, Li Yao’s figure appeared beside the Defense Officer, whose life at that moment had been reduced to zero. The Defense Officer’s body was covered in wounds, but the most severe were the nine sickle wounds deep enough to expose bone.

Yet, his body never fell.

"I indeed wasn’t wrong, make good use of my weapo..."

Before the Defense Officer could finish speaking, a phantom maw appeared on the ground and directly extracted the Defense Officer’s soul from his body, plunging it into the earth.

Li Yao sighed. Even though they were NPCs, Li Yao couldn’t help but sigh; the moment they worshipped the Ancient Gods and were eroded by them, they were no longer masters of their own fate.

Li Yao coiled up a piece of Chain Armor Gloves the Defense Officer had dropped, glanced once more at the extremely chaotic battlefield, and with a few flickers, disappeared from everybody’s sight.

His goals had been completely achieved, the Array here had been destroyed, and he had fortuitously obtained the desired Hand Cannons; Li Yao was very satisfied.

At this moment, the battlefield was completely unrecognizable. Many people still lay groaning on the ground, even those in plate armor were looking around in a disheveled and fearful state, for fear of another explosion occurring.

Mrs. Smith was very formidable, Li Yao knew, at least a high-level adversary like Edward or the Enchantress.
