Chapter 1489: Two Arrows
Chapter 1489: Chapter 1489: Two Arrows
This situation is extremely dangerous, and their guild also has numerous fans and supporters. Just moments ago, they made bold declarations about how they would deal with Prairie Fire, showing no regard for the opposition.
Their grandiose claims echoed loudly, but retribution should not come this swiftly. The moment Prairie Fire appeared, they were pushed to the brink of despair.
What made them feel even more suffocated was that they could only passively take hits while their opponent was arrogant, unable to spare any effort to fight back. If it wasn’t for their mental resilience, the leader of the team wouldn’t have fainted from anger; instead, he might have logged off in shame.
But now the team is in a very dangerous situation, and regardless of anything, he must endure. Fortunately, he is currently in Wolfman Form, with a face covered in wolf fur, so at least nobody can see his face, red with extreme frustration.
"Boss, which direction should we run?"
"If we can’t, let’s go to the team of Star of Extinction, we do have some connection with them."
"Connection, this is the competition for first kill; although it’s unspoken, we are rivals. At a critical moment, who would stay put? Moreover, I know a bit about Prairie Fire’s character, although not aware of his specific purpose. Since he destroyed our defenses here, he surely won’t ignore the other side."
"Isn’t it just great if he doesn’t spare them? We could take our revenge."
"You’re thinking too simply. Star of Extinction will turn around and sell us out in a heartbeat. The competition for the first kill is the cruelest. Apart from one’s own guild, who else can be trusted?"
"Alright, stop arguing. Although Star of Extinction is our ally, the heads of the guilds have clearly communicated beforehand: no alliances in the dungeon. Everyone relies on their own means, with fair competition, as long as there’s no deliberate targeting. Do you understand?" The leader directly kicked a Dwarf away, his form flashed, and he jumped up, throwing his greatsword to pierce through another Dwarf soldier, landing gracefully while his claws tore another soldier to shreds.
Under the assistance of the Shield and healing at the back, he appeared extremely brave, and indeed, the army needed such a commander to greatly boost morale.
Seeing the leader so valiant, the originally somewhat chaotic army finally stabilized.
The team members shut their mouths, knowing that the leader had his own plan, and they just needed to follow, without moving closer to their guild’s allies.
It was at this moment that they suddenly heard Li Yao’s shout.
"Friends of the Tide of Shadows, I’ve helped you so much..."
Several team members could not help looking towards Li Yao’s direction, only to see a streak of light flashing by.
"Leader, watch out!"
"Damn, get a shield on the leader!"
Because to their surprise, the streak of Arrows was aimed at their leader.
"You think you can kill me? No chance."
The leader of the Tide of Shadows was locked in combat, but he never dropped his guard against Li Yao. The moment he heard Li Yao speak, he reacted instantly.
He performed a plummet, crashing to the ground, and as he landed, the huge greatsword plunged into the earth, sending a Shockwave that scattered the elite Dwarf soldiers surrounding him.
Furthermore, the observant ones saw the leader’s feet shimmering with a brown light, as illusory shadows resembling tree roots seemed to take root in the earth.
With both hands bracing on the greatsword, this series of movements was smooth as flowing water, clearly premeditated in thought for how he would respond to Li Yao’s attack.
The leader, known as Knight of Revival, is a famous melee professional player with many fans, mostly European and American lolitas.
He is well-known, and as the illusory light screen appeared, the name of a virtual item surfaced, Dream Root. It is a special piece of equipment that can root in the earth and gain corresponding strength bonuses, very powerful.
It may sound slow, but Li Yao’s arrows were incredibly swift, striking directly upon the shield-shaped greatsword.
Ding...
A crisp sound followed, and then the arrow exploded upon impact, with the shockwaves from both the collision and explosion spreading out.
The greatsword, planted in the earth, carved out a vast ravine, while the Resurrection Knight let out a scream, a crunch coming from his arms. The bones in his arms, unable to withstand such formidable power, snapped, and his body twisted and was sent flying backwards. The illusory roots beneath his feet shattered to pieces.
His health bar dropped by more than half, leaving everyone utterly shocked. They knew Li Yao was strong, but not this strong.
Though the strength of the Resurrection Knight was not explicitly known, anyone wielding a shield-shaped greatsword as if it were a windmill is no weakling. With the resistance of the sword sinking into rock, the enhancement from the Dream Root, plus his own mighty strength, he was still taken down in one hit, which left them speechless.
"I told you, you can’t kill me."
Roar!
Mid-flight from being sent airborne, the Resurrection Knight transformed into a towering Werewolf, crashing down upon numerous Dwarves.
The surrounding Dwarves attacked in a flurry, but the Resurrection Knight bellowed ferociously, his wolf fur standing on end like steel needles, a red light mixed with green radiating from his body.
Crack, crack, crack...
His two dangling, broken arms rapidly healed amidst explosive sounds, as he now found himself surrounded by enemy forces. Shield-bearing classes within the team had also cast their Shield abilities on him, and coupled with rapid healing, his health bar was swiftly restored by a large margin.
Then it was a blur of claw shadows, his ability ’Unparalleled Flurry’, accessible only after transformation. Fueled by a frenzied onslaught, he weathered the joint attack with the aid of his Shield, and his counter-attacks either killed or severely wounded all of the encroaching melee attackers around him.
At that moment, he stomped on the ground with his hind legs, and with the resulting Shockwave and a leap, he tried to return to his own Legion’s formation.
The soldiers, seeing their commander not only survive but wreak havoc, cheered wildly.
Then, just as he leaped up, unable to change direction, a colossal Steel Arrow, bearing a faint trail of starlight, flashed by in an instant.
The Werewolf, suspended mid-air, abruptly halted, then was sent flying in the direction of the trailing light.
Boom...
The Werewolf was blown hundreds of yards away, crashing into a massive Stone Column.
Only then did others discern clearly that this giant Crossbow Arrow was actually fired from Li Yao’s Star Bow, a bolt meant for a ballista.
The enormous Arrow had pierced through the Werewolf’s chest, nailing him onto the Stone Column.
Cracks appeared on the column, the oil-filled basin atop tipping over; with the oil spreading, flames covered the Werewolf.
The absence of any scream only indicated one thing: the Werewolf had been killed instantly while still airborne.
"Change direction, resurrect the team leader."
The deputy Legion commander bellowed manically. The troops, which were initially attempting to break through to the other side, readjusted their direction towards the Resurrection Knight.
And they were frantically summoning more troops, for otherwise, they just couldn’t sustain the onslaught from Uldaman’s elite Legion...
