Chapter 1484: Chapter 1484: Violent Breakthrough
Li Yao didn’t waste any time, he made his purchases and went straight into action, at least showing his earnestness for the matter through his actions.
Li Yao paid great attention to detail, especially in The Ancient God World, a place almost identical to reality where high-level NPCs possess superior intelligence. Don’t assume that just discovering a quest means you can rest easy.
Your impatience, your blind arrogance, and all such things, could influence the NPCs’ judgments and thus determine the direction of the quest. Of course, it would hardly matter with straightforward NPCs, but with the stricter ones, you might even lose the quest.
Ordinary players also witnessed what true wealth is. Just for a potion slightly better than the Advanced Healing Potion, they would spend thousands of Gold Coins—a sum almost unimaginable for them.
At this point, the officials even purposely displayed the total flow of Gold Coins on Li Yao’s account, which was nearly three hundred thousand by now. It was unimaginable for this period, especially since Li Yao wasn’t managing Starfire’s finances as he was detached from it.
Otherwise, the total number of Gold Coins would likely have skyrocketed several times over.
Countless players turned red-eyed with envy, wishing they had as many Gold Coins, so they wouldn’t need a job in real life.
The excitement further fueled those who aspired to strive in the game, increasing everyone’s desire for better skills and equipment. They believed that whatever Li Yao could achieve, they could too, given time.
Naturally, Li Yao didn’t entertain so many thoughts. He always led a simple life, where having enough credit points was good enough for him. He had no interest in indulging in a life of luxury; it was the adventures in The Ancient God World that thrilled him.
This mission was full of challenges, yet Li Yao felt extremely excited. He loved challenges, and now that there was no severe penalty for dying, his courage was considerably amplified.
Gorgeous Fortress is a mechanized fortress powered by magma, utilizing the energy from the magma to maintain its operation.
The fortress appeared to sit in the middle of a huge Lava Lake, surrounded by magma. It defended against aerial attacks well with its Arrow Towers, and those Cannons and Dragon Crossbows were not just for show.
A Lava Lake was already a formidable barrier for any land force, and coupled with the towering walls made of steel, it almost formed an impregnable barrier.
The interior of the fortress was constructed of black steel, looking incredibly stern, while huge Moonstones lined the ceilings of high caves.
The light from the Moonstones complimented the glow from the magma, illuminating the fortress and the surrounding areas brightly.
These Moonstones were not just for show. Although not as effective as Flares, trying to remain undetected while sneaking around was extremely difficult.
Even with advanced stealth, it would inevitably leave traces like Spider Silk.
"No wonder completing this mission grants a Skill Book for enhanced stealth. This place is like an iron fortress, whoever designed this fortress is insane. It’s basically a Dungeon and then they added this thing."
Li Yao observed the fortress continually patrolled by various soldiers, and places like the Arrow Towers where Hunters and others employed Eagle Eye or binoculars to keep constant watch, which significantly increased the difficulty of getting inside the fortress.
"Huh, someone actually managed to sneak in. It seems I really can’t underestimate others. It looks like it belongs to a team of two Druids."
From a great distance, Li Yao used his Eagle Eye to keep scanning the fortress, integrating the entirety of the fortress into his mind for constant strategizing.
But to Li Yao’s surprise, there were indeed other players who had managed to sneak into the fortress. Although he didn’t know how they did it, anyone who could infiltrate this fortress was certainly formidable.
Li Yao’s stealth, or rather blending into the shadows, is still a bit short of true stealth, especially in such a place where sneaking in is not feasible.
The only way is to enter the fortress and then use the shadows of various structures inside the fortress to sneak in.
The frequent sounding of alarm bells inside the fortress now actually helps Li Yao a lot.
"It’s good to have someone diverting attention. When I break in, the fortress’s firepower can’t all be directed at me."
Li Yao was very satisfied with the plan he developed and reviewed it several times, deciding it was quite perfect before considering a forceful invasion.
Indeed, since stealth is not an option on the periphery, Li Yao chooses the simplest method: a forceful invasion.
After observing, Li Yao noted that the fortress did not have an air force, making it impossible for him to storm in as he’s not capable of taking a magma bath.
In the air, he needs to be wary of Arrow Towers and Strong Crossbows, especially the Strong Crossbows; if hit, his small stature would be instantly killed.
Moreover, the target cannot be too large; he still has to take a nimble approach. If he summons a Combined Puppet, although its defensive power is formidable, the target would also be much larger, making it difficult for Li Yao to dodge in areas with dense attack points.
The audience watching Li Yao’s live stream is full of excitement, seeing this as another learning opportunity. To them, entering such a heavily guarded fortress without super stealth skills seems like a fool’s dream.
Li Yao took a deep breath, and the Propeller behind him lifted him into mid-air.
Since the Propeller couldn’t be used continuously, Li Yao still needed to mix its use with the glider.
In the air, Li Yao unfolded his glider and then activated the Propeller to accelerate, shooting toward the fortress like lightning from the sky.
In just an instant, a huge Flare shot up, soldiers on the arched walls frantically operated, adjusting the angle of the Strong Crossbows, while the Arrow Towers prepared to attack directly.
When Li Yao was a few thousand yards from hovering over the Lava Lake, the nearest Arrow Tower began to attack.
Giant dragon-slaying arrows came tearing through the sky with a terrifying screech.
Li Yao dodged the Steel Arrows, accelerating with the Propeller at times, and at others turning, tracing bizarre trajectories in the air.
Giant Steel Arrows whizzed past the glider, causing countless viewers to watch with their hearts in their throats.
And as Li Yao got closer, more and more Strong Crossbows started shooting.
Li Yao’s glider was like an exceptionally agile little bird, weaving through the Bullet Storm seemingly dangerous, yet effortlessly closing in on the city wall.
The commanding Defense Officer kept cursing; in his opinion, the guy in the air was just a sitting duck, but the reality was that none of the attacks could hit the glider in the air.
Although it seemed dangerous, there was no delay in advancing, and more frustratingly, sometimes this guy deliberately enticed multiple attacks to collide by taking tricky angles, using their own attacks to defuse dangerous situations, making the Defense Officer’s eyes nearly explode with fury...
