Chapter 1479: Chapter 1479 Spark
It was not just two Druids; even Li Yao hadn’t expected to encounter someone competing for a quest.
In his view, given the secrecy of the Green Dragon, and following the death of the Green Dragon Princess, he assumed no one would complete the quest on this side.
What’s more, with the city being so large and the passages so numerous, it was unlikely that players would take the risk to accept a quest from the Green Dragon.
However, reality told Li Yao that he had assumed too much.
Li Yao completely overlooked the fact that Druids, although lacking epic enhancements after reaching level 50, gained access to a very impressive unique professional scenario.
That is the Emerald Dream, which level 50 players can unlock by completing some complex quests.
Here, they have expertise related to the Dream and related non-mainline side instances, which, although doesn’t enhance the Druids’ direct abilities.
But it allowed many Druids to become planar merchants, selling special items from the Dream into the main plane.
While it doesn’t make them incredibly wealthy, as long as they put a little effort, Druids who can travel between the Dream and reality are not short on money. At least they need not worry about the costs of leveling up, participating in events, or various item expenses.
This has also caused many other professions to harbor resentment, since it’s officially announced that many unique professions have their own special scenarios.
For example, the soon-to-be-available Blackrock Fortress for Death Knights, and the Hunter Hall eagerly anticipated by many Hunters.
There are also the chapels highly anticipated by Paladins, and even Dalaran, the holy land for Mages, which will gradually become available to the respective groups over time.
Particularly for the Magicians’ Void Space, countless Magicians speculate whether it could lead to the Endless Void where the Burning Legion resides, thereby gaining access to precious Void specialties.
Druids were among the first to benefit, a result determined by multiple factors; on one hand, the Green Dragon Clan is the most active among the five Dragon Clans, and on the other, due to professional issues with Druids.
While Druids aren’t short on employment opportunities, the costs of casting materials remain high, coupled with the difficulty in playing a Druid, which demands considerable effort and time.
However, good Druids are rare, and if not suitable, they wouldn’t be able to perform accordingly, becoming a liability instead of assistance.
This has made it so while Druids are good opportunities, teams join them mainly for their buffs and their significantly short cooldowns for resurrection.
Druids naturally would not be satisfied with this status; this earlier emergence of the Dream is a compensation and supplement made for Druid players.
The moment Li Yao saw the two Druids, he knew they had used the Dream, and somehow, acquired the rescue information from the Green Dragon, which led them here.
Indeed, it was nearly as Li Yao had speculated—the Green Dragons failed to handle the incident at Uldaman, resulting in their sealing and the princess’s fate unknown, and their leader captured, they could only call for help.
Moreover, they could only seek assistance through the Dream, but the problem is that the Green Dragons are now facing difficulties from all sides, especially due to the major manpower spent resolving the prince’s issues, and the corrosion of the Dream makes it impossible for the Green Dragon Queen to spare any attention elsewhere.
Even though they received the rescue requests, they genuinely lacked the capacity to provide support; those who did come couldn’t help—the situation was embarrassingly awkward.
By chance, a couple of Druids returned to the Dream to resupply the necessities consumed by the Dream, thereby supporting the team’s pioneering efforts, and they had already contacted some Green Draconids, thus learning about this rescue information.
Moreover, it came from Uldaman, which made them see an opportunity.
Their team was practically similar to Starfire’s, considering this information unreliable, especially after scouting the fortress troops which seemed too risky, they initially did not want to attempt.
As a result, two Druids volunteered to contact the Green Dragons here, and after some missions, they gained the trust of the local Green Dragons, only then they came here, and their team was persuaded by the two Druids—now there are two teams competing here.
Now with Li Yao involved, there are three teams.
The competition between the two Druid teams was for gaining more progress, but with the appearance of Li Yao, it immediately united them against a common enemy.
Of course, Li Yao merely frowned slightly and put aside the issue of the two, feeling confident in his connection with the Green Dragon Princess, not to mention any preferential treatment, even just treating him fairly, Li Yao believed he would not lose to anyone.
"Is this gentleman the hero who rescued the princess? You truly have a dignified appearance. Our Green Dragon Clan is deeply grateful. Should we be fortunate enough to see the daylight again someday, we must certainly repay our debt to you," said one middle-aged Green Dragon meticulously, extremely polite yet Li Yao could still sense a hint of pride in his tone.
The meaning was obvious, "You saved our princess, and we are grateful, but don’t impose too much. Our Dragon Clan has never failed to repay a favor once we are capable."
Li Yao was not bothered at all, saying, "We attacked Uldaman from the outside, vanquishing remnants of the ancient gods. Ultimately, rescuing the princess was merely incidental, not aiming for any repayment. I merely feel that since our goals align, we should cooperate against the ancient gods’ conspiracy. That is the true path."
"The gentleman speaks of cooperation, and we naturally agree, but we are not sure about the gentleman’s strength. If insufficient, I fear coming here might not make any significant difference to the situation," said the middle-aged Green Dragon.
One female Druid scoffed, "Don’t be fooled by this man, Green Dragon lords. What strength can he have, leading a disparate army of four hundred thousand, and surely faced significant losses in coming here. To estimate his legion as three hundred thousand is already generous. No matter how many ragtag troops, what use are they?"
The other Druid quickly added, "More importantly, this man’s character is low and deceitfully profound. The fact that he controls the powers of darkness indicates as much. Crucially, this man carries something known as Touch of Darkness supposedly made from an ancient god’s body part. Our Green Dragon folks are against the ancient gods, naturally understanding their ferocity. Who knows if this man has been parasitized or mentally controlled by the ancient gods?"
The expressions of several Green Dragons changed as they drew their weapons, their deep-seated hatred against the ancient gods etched into their bones for tens of thousands of years. Learning that Li Yao actually possessed a part of an ancient god, they naturally felt an immense threat.
Li Yao simply smiled lightly, not making any move but instead looked towards the Green Dragon Princess.
The Green Dragon Princess, noticing Li Yao’s unchanged demeanor, couldn’t help but let out a soft word of admiration, quietly saying, "Although my interaction with the gentleman has been brief, I trust his character, and someone from our Dragon Clan is by his side. I believe he is absolutely not a person from the side of the ancient gods. Don’t forget, he has saved my life—if he has been controlled by the ancient gods, perhaps examine whether I have been corrupted by them too."...
