Chapter 1472: Chapter 1472: Gilding

Seeing the twin horns that represent the bloodline of the Dragon King, a burning light gleamed in the indifferent eyes of several Lizardmen.

They wanted to become stronger, and besides elevating their own rank and status, the only way to improve their breed was through the aid of pure Dragon Clan members.

If one were to ask which Race’s players desperately wanted to enhance their prestige within the Dragon Clan, it would certainly be the Lizardmen.

Having confirmed the presence of someone from the Dragon Clan, what the Lizardmen most wanted, of course, was to snatch the quest.

"This Dragon Clan Princess, I’m sorry to say, we and this fellow are sworn enemies. Moreover, in the attack on Uldaman, he is one of our most formidable opponents — a must-kill on sight. Hence, we can’t let him pass. However, since we share the same Dragon Bloodline, whatever this fellow can do for the Princess, I can do the same. May I know which Dragon Prince’s lineage Your Highness belongs to?"

The Green Dragon Princess had no reaction to the claim that they wanted to kill Li Yao; after all, she already knew from him that a battle between them was inevitable.

But she disliked what followed and said with a frown, "Who said we were of the same Dragon Clan as you? I’ve only heard of three true dragons in the heavens: one is the Ancestor Dragon Species, lacking intellect but strong in power and bloodline. Next is us, the Five Dragon Clans, originally stemming from the Ancestor Dragons, we received the enlightenment of the Titans and achieved myth status. Then there is the Cloud Flying Dragon, guarding the Southern Continent. I’ve never heard that a mere small Lizard is also a member of the Dragon Clan."

The Green Dragon girl also spoke with disdain, "And more so, you don’t even recognize which kind of Giant Dragon we are. Shapes may change, but the patterns of Dream on our horns are beyond your recognition. Truly self-aggrandizing, you tiny four-legged snakes don’t know from which half-dragon’s lineage you descended; a Magic Race that can’t even be counted as transcendental dares to compare with us. It’s laughable indeed."

Pfft...

Li Yao couldn’t help but laugh out loud. These Lizardmen had always considered themselves as part of the Dragon Clan, living their whole lives hoping to revert back to true dragons, but the actual dragons simply looked down on them with contempt.

It’s easy to understand, really; dragons, like snakes, are naturally yin in disposition. Not to mention anything else, just take the Dragon King for example — whether male or female, doesn’t each one have a slew of mates?

However, the Dragon Clan has difficulty in reproduction, and now the Guardian lineage is struggling to sustain on their own. Some tribe members have interbred with other Races to enhance combat strength, hence the existence of Draconids and half-dragons.

In reality, these half-dragons are nothing but cannon fodder and suicide squads. Even the Draconids and half-dragons do not hold high status within the Dragon Clan, let alone the offspring of half-dragons and Draconids with their diluted lineage. Essentially, they have little to do with the Dragon Clan anymore; they only hope to trace back the Dragon Bloodline because of its strength.

These Guardians of the Dragon Clan pride themselves as higher than gods, let alone mortals. It’s not their arrogance, but rather their inborn nature. The Lizardmen’s desire to stand on equal footing with them naturally incurs disgust and disdain.

If it weren’t for their Lizard skin and scales on their faces, their embarrassment would probably be as red as a monkey’s butt, but one could tell from their frustrated and resigned eyes just how much they were repressing.

"Don’t bother with them; just kill them all. Damn it! They really think they’re so great as Dragon Clan members, yet they dare to spout such nonsense without considering their own situation. Just kill them," roared one of the Lizardmen, on the verge of going mad.

"Stay calm and don’t be hasty," a lion-man soothed the Lizardmen before turning back to say, "Your Highness, you have seen our strength. Allow us to kill this fellow and take over protecting the two of you, how about that?"

The Green Dragon girl’s eyes flickered, while the Green Dragon Princess once again covered her twin horns with her hood and spoke softly, "I’m sorry, but as Dragon Clan members, our word is as good as gold. Since I have already entrusted Mr. Prairie Fire with this task, I will trust in this gentleman. To watch you kill him would go against my role as a scion of the Dragon Prince. Now step aside, the Green Dragons will owe each of you a favor, and I might be able to inquire which of our tribe members left the lineage that resulted in your race."

A Lizardman sneered: "So it’s the Green Dragon race, that’s useless. We too carry the Dragon King bloodline, you know. Our ancestor’s father was the Black Dragon King. A Green Dragon is nothing. Just kill it and extract its Dragon King bloodline to advance our rank."

Both Green Dragons’ eyes turned cold at once, and the Green Dragon maiden scoffed: "So, the scum of traitors, heh."

Li Yao also smiled: "So you want to find a Black Dragon, then fine. Ask the Black Dragon Queen yourself, see if she recognizes you. What do you say, Your Majesty, the Queen?"

The Black Dragon Queen’s figure appeared, and upon hearing Li Yao’s words, she said indifferently: "Their ancestors were nothing but spawns of Deathwing’s corruption, mixed with some unknown creature. They dare to falsely claim they are Black Dragons, really flattering themselves."

With the Black Dragon Queen’s appearance, her two massive Dragon Horns were considerably larger than those of the Green Dragon Princess, and her aura was also more majestic. The Dragon Horns with the Earth’s pattern flashing, several Lizardmen felt their bodies go weak, unable to muster any strength. This was not simple intimidation but the ancestral pressure of a higher Dragon Bloodline over a lower one. This was also why only those with double horns could become Princesses and Princes.

With such a bloodline, even if it’s just a juvenile Princess, no adult Warrior of the same Giant Dragon species can harm a Princess or a Prince.

The Lizardmen’s faces, covered with green scales, could not hide their shame; the slaps to the face sounded loud and clear.

"With the Queen present, what makes you spawns think you have the right to stand? Kneel before the Queen’s master this instant."

Following the Black Dragon Queen’s command, several Lizardmen knelt down with a ’thump thump’, and the Lizardmen army also collapsed to their knees in a rustling mess.

The two Green Dragons were about to pop their eyes out of their heads. Damn it, seeing the Black Dragon Queen was already shocking enough, but now there was a mention of her having a master? They must have heard wrong.

"Niece Yveline, it’s been ten thousand years. Do you not recognize me anymore?" teased the Black Dragon Queen.

The Green Dragon Princess hurriedly gave her respects: "Great Aunt, we have never subjected the Black Dragons to a massacre."

The Black Dragon Queen sighed lightly: "I understand. Alas, if you really had been chasing us, the Black Dragon race would have been extinct by now. The future is unpredictable, let’s not speak of the past. Now, I stand by my master’s side. The other Dragon Kings also approve of this, having just met not long ago. Times have changed."

"Let’s deal with the situation in front of us first, and save the chit-chat for later. Summoning you was not for show, is there a way to get these Lizardmen to turn their blades against their own?" said Li Yao.

Disdain flashed in the eyes of the Black Dragon Queen: "Some spawns dare not defy my will. Master, you see."

The several Lizardmen kneeling on the ground and protecting a few Lizardmen players, who were also powerful Lizardmen, suddenly drew their weapons and slew the kneeling Lizardmen players trying to struggle to their feet. The Lizardmen within the Legion then turned and attacked their former allies whom they had just been fighting alongside.

The Lion’s eyes were about to pop out of its head: "Madness, this is madness."

It should be noted that within the two hundred thousand-strong Legion, the Lizardmen accounted for forty to fifty thousand. Their sudden betrayal caught them completely off guard, throwing the formation into disarray. Where could they find the focus to besiege Li Yao and the others...
