Chapter 1463: Enhancement
Chapter 1463: Chapter 1463: Enhancement
Although the Mechanical Cloak is exquisite, it doesn’t have any practical use for Li Yao. Being an engineer himself, he can easily enhance an ordinary cloak with parachutes and gliding wings.
Moreover, now that he has a propeller, which is far more useful than those things, and with his skills, even falling from high altitude won’t kill him.
When it comes to a drop that could be fatal, the cloak wouldn’t be of much help either, so Li Yao does not want to put it on.
Even though it’s slightly better than his own attributes, the small difference is negligible for Li Yao, and wearing it would be a waste.
But it’s a different story for regular players who haven’t learned engineering.
Many secondary professions have their own unique products, which can only be used by people of that particular profession.
Even for general products, learning the corresponding secondary profession also grants bonuses.
For example, with a gliding wing, a player skilled in engineering not only gets extended usage time, but without engineering skills, the wing has a shorter duration, and is prone to damage.
However, this cloak doesn’t have those issues. It’s a stable piece of equipment, not a device, and doesn’t receive bonuses from engineering. Therefore, for some adventurous players, this cloak is still top-notch.
What truly caught Li Yao’s attention was the Rune Sword Dance. Li Yao thought that the skill would be lost with the death of the ancient Dwarf chief, but unexpectedly the Dwarf dropped the Skill Book.
For Li Yao, it was a delightful surprise. Having this skill would give him another method to deal with powerful enemies.
It’s the same saying: there are a million ways to bully the weak, but dealing with masters is difficult, and one can never have too many methods.
Rune Sword Dance
Tier: Gold Legendary
Invoke the power of runes to replicate two rune swords identical to the weapon in hand and attack the enemy for three seconds. After invoking the rune power, the center of gravity can continuously accelerate based on the enemy’s counterattacks, refreshing the duration of the rune swords with each acceleration, and the boost from each strike is determined by the force and velocity of the collision with the enemy and oneself.
The skill activation has two states, one for Puppet form and the other for flesh-and-blood form.
Puppet form requirement: The Puppet must be at least of Epic tier, and its strength must be at the level of an adult Mountain Giant to activate.
Flesh-and-blood form requirement: Minimum Agility 1400, Strength at least 1500. Spiritual power: one in a thousand.
Note: These are the lowest requirements for the two forms. Once the skill is activated, there’s no turning back, it’s a do or die situation, handle with the utmost caution—A reminder from the founder.
"This skill is so dominating, it’s a pity that the requirements are really high. Few among the ancient gods can learn it, and these are just the minimum requirements. Utterly dominating," the Guardian Angel sighed.
Indeed, a flesh-and-blood Agility of 1400, Strength of 1500, and spiritual power of one in a thousand level.
Not to mention the other attributes, the requirement of spiritual power alone is enough to eliminate the vast majority of people.
As for Strength of 1500, at the current stage, it’s not nonexistent. For instance, strength-focused Mountain warriors or Barbarian Warriors, plus some special strength-enhancing equipment, could make the cut.
And for Agility 1400, that’s another peak value. Perhaps some specialized thieves who are good at stealing, coupled with some agility equipment, could also achieve it.
But it’s difficult to meet both strength and agility requirements simultaneously. It’s not that there are no professions that excel in both, but when referred to as dual-specialization, in reality, each aspect often falls considerably short compared to specializing in just one.
With the addition of spiritual power requirements, at this stage, such individuals are as rare as phoenix feathers or unicorn horns. Probably no one in the Starfire Guild can meet these requirements besides Li Yao.
This is still because Li Yao accidentally obtained the Power of Dragonfather as well as special equipment related to Titans and ancient gods; even without invoking the Power of Dragonfather, his base strength exceeds two thousand two hundred.
Otherwise, even Li Yao wouldn’t be able to learn this skill—of course, this refers to activating it in his original form.
As for agility, there’s no need to say much. Li Yao has always prioritized agility; as a Ranger, agility is his primary pursuit, even more so than attack power.
And in his Puppet form, if we don’t count NPCs, probably only Li Yao can make use of it.
Li Yao didn’t waste any words and directly learned the skill. Whether it’s his original form or his Puppet form, he now has one more powerful method to apply. Even though it might not be as impactful as a full-on ultimate ability, it’s still immensely beneficial to Li Yao.
"I’ve learned the Skill Book; it’d be a waste if I used this equipment. Anyone in the team who hasn’t studied Engineering can roll for it," he said.
The members knew Li Yao’s character and the core team’s rules well; if he needed something, there was no need for courtesy, and if he didn’t need it, he wouldn’t covet it. When Li Yao said it was useless to him, it really was useless—not just being polite.
So those who hadn’t studied Engineering eagerly rolled, as the Cloak was indeed very good.
Eventually, the equipment was rolled to a Magician in the team, and that concluded the distribution of spoils from this battle.
"Let’s put in some effort, everyone. Once we reach 5% progress, we can rest for eight hours," Sister Li said within the team.
"What’s the vice president talking about? We’re not tired, we’re fighting for the first kill right now."
"Exactly, we’re all geared up."
"It’s a shame, though. We don’t know how far the other teams have progressed."
While everyone was still in high spirits, Sister Li shook her head slightly: "This is the strategy that the present and I have discussed. It’s not easy to achieve such progress, and the first kill isn’t something easily fought over."
Li Yao also said, "This dungeon is very special. What do you all think this dungeon is about, is it the bosses, a war?"
"Isn’t it that way? We don’t know how many armies are in this dungeon, with over a thousand known bosses alone."
"That’s correct, as everyone saw in the recent battle. We encountered seven bosses, and besides the Ancient Dwarf and that lieutenant, there are five other unmarked bosses. What does this suggest? It indicates that there are far more hidden bosses than we expected."
"With so many bosses, one can imagine how many hidden armies there are. Originally, we thought we were just attacking one more city, even feeling it was a bit small, considering the number of people. But as it turns out, it’s like so many players attacking the administrative region of an entire large province in China; even if you travel straight on the road, it would take several days, not to mention having to assault fortresses."
"Yeah, this battle for the first kill is estimated to last nearly a month."
Li Yao didn’t interrupt their discussion. After letting them discuss for a while, he said, "You just mentioned that the journey is long and will take a considerable amount of time, so there’s no need to rush it. Moreover, in my view, this competition is mainly a contest between players. It’s hard to predict progress; there might be a gap, but the final boss and first kill are unlikely to see one team significantly outpacing others. It’s nearly impossible for a guild to claim the first kill far ahead of everyone else."
The players quickly understood Li Yao’s point. Not just from the gameplay perspective, even if we consider the ancient gods’ setting, are the various factions here really to solve the problem? In reality, it’s another game of strategy and contest,
with the players serving as their pawns. The final victory will inevitably lead to a large-scale melee, where securing the first kill won’t depend on who fights most desperately or who is strongest, but on who is the smartest...
