Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva -
Chapter 1162 - 165: Battle on the Training Ground (Part 3)
"Hecate."
"Here!" Tilan's eyes turned to the officer reading the list.
"Eighth Fleet, 837th Mecha Practical Combat Camp, Sixth Rank Mech Pilot."
Unlike other soldiers directly assigned to branch fleets, the requirements for Mech Pilots were evidently much higher, requiring more rigorous training and tests.
After the assignments were completed, the group gathered for a farewell dinner.
"I didn't expect Hecate to be a Mech Pilot; I always thought she would be a member of the Special Operations team, handling infiltration and assassination tasks." Noah raised his glass.
"You should have figured it out, given that she's roommates with Maggie, who talks almost daily about her experiences piloting mechas at the military academy." The burly man beside him joked.
"Piloting those big machines isn't easy. I once participated in the open selection review, but unfortunately didn't pass. When the Magic Furnace engine reached the Third Stage, I couldn't endure it." He said, stroking the beard on his chin.
"That's impressive though; most people can't even handle the Second Stage."
"I did graduate from the military academy, so not being able to handle the Second Stage would be a bit embarrassing." The burly man laughed heartily, recounting amusing stories from his school days.
"We even bet back then that whoever couldn't handle the Second Stage would have to treat everyone to a meal that night."
"Generally speaking, with Low Rank mechas, the Second Stage is actually sufficient, as their Magic Furnaces aren't that powerful. But since I reached Sequence 6, piloting a Sequence 4 Low Rank Mecha feels wasteful."
"I remember you're from the Dragon Sequence, right?" Noah asked from beside him.
"Yes, the Dragon Sequence. If I use a specialized tool to transform into a dragon, my combat power wouldn't be weaker than a Sequence 4 mecha and even more agile, so there's no need."
"A Sequence 6 High Rank Mecha can operate in space, easily navigating through a hail of bullets. Unless a cruiser's main cannon locks directly on, ordinary attacks can't penetrate its armor. It's far more liberating than staying passively on the starship and praying."
"If it's a mecha custom-made for Sequence 7 Master level figures, with all kinds of additional abilities, its combat power reaches another level, capable of destroying a city single-handedly." He described an awe-inspiring scenario.
"Alright, stop envying. I'll definitely organize my experience piloting a mecha into a booklet and tell you about it in the future." Maggie came over and placed her broad hand on the shoulder of the burly classmate, with whom she was acquainted, having known each other since the military academy.
"Tonight, let's toast to Hecate. It's said the top performer at the training camp gets a small reward. No matter which fleet you report to in the future, you'll be valued."
At one side of the hall, as the highest instructor of the training camp, a robust officer was advising Tilan on some matters.
"You have joined the army midway, although you're a Mech Pilot receiving more privileges, I must remind you that in the army, everything is judged by strength. Since you're not a military academy graduate, you will surely face exclusion by those cadets in the Practical Combat Camp unless your strength is strong enough to deter them from saying more, then they will treat you kindly."
"This is not a school, nor a dance practice studio. On the battlefield, glory and achievements are won at the cost of life, leaving no room for negligence. Exclusion of the weak is a soldier's instinct because your weakness means others have to pay the price to compensate, and that price could be life."
"I repeat, this is not some association for mutual help and camaraderie, but a violent group that must achieve victory, with no escaping the cold slaughter, so you'd better prepare yourself mentally in advance."
"I don't need to say more, you're a smart girl who quickly memorized the manuals and training key points. That's it then, relax with your companions for tonight, the formal mecha piloting training will start tomorrow."
"Yes." Tilan nodded and saluted, then returned to her seat in the dining hall.
Watching the long-haired girl walk away, another officer came over with a glass.
"I didn't realize you cared so much, actually telling her all this in such detail and patience."
"After all, she's a good seedling, very talented and obedient, but I feel she's not suited to appear in the army. Simply put, you and I both know, the army is just a cold exchange machine; bringing in highly talented people just makes the data look better, but in the end, they still die."
"Glory and such, only those who survive have it. But who knows if they can survive, as there are too many contingencies."
"I just hope, in the future when we step onto the battlefield, we don't die too unjustly so at least there's someone to remember it, saying that such-and-such fleet made a contribution to history."
