Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva -
Chapter 1105 - 145 Youthful Days_2
The entire mansion occupies a large area. From Tilan's perspective, it could even be considered an estate, with flat lawns surrounding the mansion, providing a wide-open view. Anyone approaching would easily be noticed.
Upon entering the mansion, Tilan quickly saw familiar maid figures. After learning that Tilan was returning to Four-leaf Crystal, these Bloodmaid servants who had been at the school also migrated back.
"Welcome back, Lady Tilan~" Dressed in uniform maid outfits, they stood in two lines, wearing headbands, with their palms on their waists, bowing to greet her with a unique aesthetic.
Tilan waved them to stand up, advising them not to be overly formal.
"Otherwise, it feels like I'm some ancient noble with peculiar tastes." Tilan had to wave and explain to Deloris, but fortunately, their relationship was good enough that no misunderstanding occurred.
"Hehehe, actually, everyone likes you very much, that's why they're willing to do this." Deloris was already familiar with these maids during her school days.
After settling in, Tilan first stayed in the South First District, where she conversed and reminisced with the Starfield Governor and board members of Edith Academy. During that time, she also participated in several public events, leaving photos and singing, fulfilling everyone's expectations.
Approximately half a month later, Tilan finally found some peace.
"Now I finally have time to visit the north."
"Can I come along?" Deloris asked Tilan with a slightly expectant and coquettish tone.
"Sigh." Tilan didn't mind Deloris coming, but was slightly unaccustomed to seeing Deloris in such a manner for the first time.
"Hehe, that's so Tilan, she always agrees if you just say some soft words nicely." Deloris responded with a laugh. As their time together lengthened, Deloris slowly understood the young girl's thoughts and habits.
Thereafter, the two continued their journey to the Northern Seventh District. With the escort of a specialized battle aircraft, Tilan crossed half the planet within a few hours, reaching her hometown in the Northern Seventh District.
Standing at the entrance of an underground passage steaming with white vapor, watching various transport ships and goods constantly moving in and out of the crimson iron well, Deloris was filled with curiosity.
"This is where Tilan grew up."
"Yeah." Previously, the girl might have felt a bit embarrassed and inferior, but now she felt calm and composed.
"This is indeed where I grew up." Her voice was full of emotion.
"Follow me." Without taking the hover car specially prepared for her, Tilan led Deloris into the steel corridor beside the entrance.
"You don't have to follow me, just go straight down." Tilan addressed the officers escorting her; they were elite officers of the Four-leaf Crystal Star Domain, with superior combat abilities.
"But..." Although Tilan's authority was high, as soldiers, their top priority was to protect this young girl.
"It's fine; I've already informed your superiors. You'll receive the notification in a few seconds." Tilan wouldn't intentionally make it difficult for them, and given her strength, it's rare for anyone to successfully assassinate her.
Under the young girl's firm request, the officers' superiors temporarily suspended the close-protection order, allowing Tilan to move freely. However, they still kept a certain distance to provide timely assistance and conduct perimeter checks.
Finally, the girl felt a sense of solitude around her and could take Deloris back home for a good look.
As they entered a familiar industrial elevator, Tilan donned the prepared glasses, and the lenses slowly turned a light gray. Meanwhile, her originally jet-black long hair transformed into a fine ash-gray, pairing with her glasses, making the young girl's overall demeanor appear ordinary and unremarkable.
Besides the two, there were also many local residents and workers in the elevator. Though surprised by the two beautiful girls, the crowd didn't make much of a fuss; after all, it was a civilized society, and well-dressed girls were plenty, and even those with average looks could become quite appealing with good makeup.
The elevator descended vertically, and along the way, a rhythmic clanking sound was heard as it passed through each node and contact point. If emergency braking was necessary, these contact points could directly stop the elevator, holding it on a specific floor.
This function, without saying much, was designed for wartime, to prevent enemy exploitation and avoid losing control of the elevator during a crisis.
Standing on the steel grid floor, Deloris looked around, head tilted. This young lady, raised in luxury since childhood, had never been to a place like this, except for that one time she ventured into the north with Tilan.
The industrial aesthetics were everywhere: anti-rust red paint, worn and damaged silver metal structures, graffiti-clad walls, and industrial rust constructs, all robust and durable.
"We're here." Watching the numbers on the display screen nearby, Tilan spoke.
Soon enough, the elevator halted, a side door opened, and numerous passengers disembarked.
"Let's go too, take a look around the streets with Deloris and perhaps buy something." Tilan didn't really need much, but she knew Deloris would certainly be curious, so she took her to see the upper streets of Payin City first.
"Okay." Deloris followed along.
Sublevel 42, Molan Street in the Flower and Bird District.
The sky was a realistic projection, yet the lighting was sufficient, presenting a blue sky with white clouds akin to reality, preventing the underground residents from becoming reclusive.
"This change is something indeed." Standing on the street, Tilan looked at the white clouds floating overhead.
"What's wrong?" Deloris was puzzled.
"There wasn't any of this back then, just endless starry skies. They were nice too, but not as bright, and the roads relied on streetlights and other illumination facilities." Lighting up the entire underground area incurred significant electricity costs, energy consumption, equipment expenses, and heat dissipation issues. In the past, Payin City wasn't willing to indulge in such luxuries.
"It's probably because of Tilan." Deloris quickly understood.
"If I were the local mayor, I'd definitely do the same." Deloris laughed as she spoke.
"With Tilan as such a good promotional card, you'd definitely spruce up Payin City's landscapes. Even if funds were lacking, having your endorsement would make bank loans easy, and other large companies might offer free sponsorships."
"Alright, alright." Tilan had heard such praise countless times.
As they walked through the familiar streets, despite many shops having changed, Tilan still recognized many familiar signs. Back then, she frequently visited with classmates.
Payin City, being an industrial city, didn't excel in entertainment. Various commercial entertainment venues were concentrated in this area, so locals naturally came here for leisure and shopping.
Though the stores looked the same as before, her perspective now was entirely different.
In the past, due to financial struggles, visiting here with classmates always made her cautious, reluctant to look too closely at items with high price tags.
Poverty not only meant a lack of material wealth but often led to psychological inferiority and shyness, which Tilan deeply understood.
"Let's go inside and take a look." Since she had returned with difficulty, Tilan decided to fulfill past regrets and properly peruse the items in these stores, understanding the things she once dared not buy but wished for.
If she liked something, she'd purchase it, compensating for her former self.
Today, Tilan and Deloris dressed casually, with Deloris draping a light, gauzy jacket over her shoulder and carrying a small bag, while Tilan wore a slightly refreshing dark winter dress adorned with some pom-pom pendants. Given that it was currently winter in the north, this attire was seasonally appropriate.
They first entered a stationery and gift shop, which Tilan had frequented most with classmates during junior high. She recalled classmates buying beautifully attractive pencil boxes and various matching school bags, training swords, and more.
At that time, Tilan, who had just started living independently and didn't dare to sell items left by her sister, was financially constrained. Many of her stationery items had been used for three years without being replaced, while some classmates promptly changed for new ones whenever their favorite idols and stars released collaboration editions, including projection boxes capable of simulating Transcendent formula brandings, which she greatly envied.
Such tender years indeed.
