Chapter 51: Chapter 51 Comrades Fighting Back to Back (1)_1

"Have you all run out of Study Points?" Dugu Qianye asked.

The four of them nodded in unison. Sang Yu said, "You often run to the library, while we often head to the Cultivation Tower. Haven’t you noticed that our Phantom Power has all increased by a level?"

"Tsk tsk, the academy really is different—we’ve only been here for a little over two months and we’ve already advanced a level," Lei Xiaohu said with a smile that narrowed his eyes.

Upon inspection, Dugu Qianye indeed saw that everyone had advanced a level. After thinking for a moment, she said, "Okay then, but will the academy let us go?"

Sun Kui and the others looked at her and eventually sighed and shook their heads. Sang Yu said, "Sigh, I really can’t win against you. Don’t you know that the first half of the semester is for theory courses and the second half is for practical experience? Our classes are ending this week. The remaining time is free, but it’s mainly for taking on tasks."

Dugu Qianye felt embarrassed under everyone’s gaze and offered a sheepish laugh, "Hehe, I’ve been busy. So, when are you going?"

"In the next couple of days. Sun Kui has got a copy of the task list; let’s discuss which tasks to take on. We also need to report this to the academic affairs office," Gao Liang said.

Consequently, five heads huddled together to discuss and eventually settled on a list of tasks.

Looking over the long list of tasks, Gao Liang said, "Baili, are you sure we should take on so many tasks?"

"The tasks we’re taking on are all in the Yanshan Mountain range. That way, we won’t waste too much time on the road. With a total of 10 tasks, it averages out to only two tasks per person, so it’s not that many when you think about it," Dugu Qianye explained.

"But, normally people consider taking on two or three tasks to be a lot," Sun Kui added.

"Others are others, we are ourselves. If you’re always considering how others do things, how can you surpass yourself? Do you think the five of us can’t finish 10 tasks?" Dugu Qianye retorted.

Her words struck a chord with everyone. Right, were they not measuring themselves by others’ standards? How could they improve that way?!

Realizing their previous mistake in thinking, they all became more earnest.

"Baili is right, our previous way of thinking was wrong. I believe the five of us together can definitely complete these 10 tasks," Sang Yu said.

"Yeah, I believe it too," said Lei Xiaohu. "Since we’ve formed a team, shouldn’t we give our team a name?"

"Hehe, Xiaohu, that’s a good suggestion. We should pick a cool name that will be catchy when it gets out!" Sun Kui said with a chuckle, "How about Invincible? Unbeatable, that’s awesome!"

"Invincible Team, the meaning is good, but it’s not catchy enough when called out," Gao Liang remarked.

"How about Thunder?" Dugu Qianye suggested.

"Thunder, Thunder, that’s not bad; it’s catchy when you say it," Sang Yu repeated twice and commented.

"Alright, from now on, we’re Thunder Squad, haha," Sun Kui laughed boisterously. "From now on, I’m the information gatherer for our squad. So, who will be the captain?"

Everyone looked at each other until finally, Sang Yu said, "Baili, you should be the captain."

"Me?" Dugu Qianye was surprised that it would be her, considering she hadn’t spent as much time with them.

"Yes. Not to mention that you’re the strongest among us, it’s your ever-ascending spirit that can lead us forward. Gao Liang likes to think and scheme, so let’s make him our strategist. Lei Xiaohu and I will be the vanguard. How about that?"

"Hehe, I agree," Lei Xiaohu said.

"I also think it’s a good idea. Baili, don’t you realize that you have a way of bringing us together? And your fighting spirit, tsk tsk, sweeping the entire class on the first day of school!" Gao Liang said.

"Uh, okay then. Since we’ve formed a team, we’re together in this. I hope that in the future, we will be united in spirit. If not, it’d be better to disband immediately. Got it?" Dugu Qianye stated.

"Understood!" the others said in chorus.

Apart from Dugu Qianye and the other four, no one knew that a legendary squad was born that day.

The next day, Dugu Qianye and her team went to the academic affairs office to take on their tasks. After they reported their tasks, the teacher in charge looked at them in surprise: "Are you sure you want to take on 10 tasks?"

"Yes," Gao Liang replied.

The teacher quickly registered their tasks and handed the task cards to Gao Liang, stating, "You’ve taken on 10 tasks, all of difficulty level three, 1000 Study Points each, totalling 10,000 Study Points. As you’re a team, upon completion, each member will receive 2000 Study Points."

After leaving the academic affairs office, Dugu Qianye went to see Mo Feng to tell him that she would be leaving the academy. Mo Feng said that he had also taken on a task, which was to concoct Elixirs for the academy. Then she went to find Mo Ziqing and the others.

Mo Ziqing and Dan Jingtian were also packing their things. Seeing Dugu Qianye, they came over to chat with her.

"Brother, we’re telepathic, I tell ya, we were just about to look for you, and here you are," Dan Jingtian said, draping an arm around Dugu Qianye’s shoulder—a gesture that always made him want to give a hug, but Mo Ziqing would swat his hand away every time. One time, Dan Jingtian even accused Mo Ziqing of being overprotective, not letting anyone hug her. This time was no exception.

"We few from our yard have taken on some tasks and are setting out tomorrow, so we came to let you know," Dugu Qianye said, unperturbed by Dan Jingtian’s sulking expression after Mo Ziqing slapped his hand away, and turned to address the others.

"We’ve taken on tasks too and are also preparing to leave tomorrow. Where do you plan on going?" Long Xiang asked.

"We’re mainly heading west to the Yanshan Mountain range. How about you?" Dugu Qianye asked.

"We’re heading east to Wuxiang City. It seems we’re going in the opposite direction to you."

At that moment, two men entered from outside, one was He Yan, and the other a blonde-haired young man. Without guessing, it was obvious it could be none other than the Fourth Prince. Although Dugu Qianye had visited twice before, the prince always happened to be away.

"Haha, this must be the genius newcomer Baili Xie, right?" the Fourth Prince said with a smile. "I always hear about you from Ziqing and the others, but I never had the chance to meet you. Hello, I’m Ares."

"Fourth Prince, you’re too kind," Dugu Qianye said. The Fourth Prince was a very warm person, which made him instantly likable.

After chatting casually for a while and since everyone had things to pack, Dugu Qianye stood to take her leave. Mo Ziqing walked her to the door and said, "After you finish your tasks, come home for a visit. My father and uncle have been asking about you for a long time, and I can hardly bear it any longer."

Seeing Mo Ziqing’s helpless look, Dugu Qianye thought for a moment and then nodded her agreement.

"Baili, look at this, is this the Qingling Grass mentioned in the task?" Lei Xiaohu asked, holding out a small grass.

"Oh dear, that’s just Ground Cage Grass, which Spiritual Beasts like to eat," Sun Kui said, taking the grass from Lei Xiaohu’s hand and scrutinizing it.
