"Stop right there!" Miss Zhang blocked Dugu Qianye’s path and said, "Today, you must come back with us."

"And what if I say no?" Dugu Qianye spoke indifferently.

"Hmph, you don’t have a choice. Snatching a handsome man isn’t something this miss hasn’t done before," Miss Zhang said proudly. "Or could it be, you don’t fancy my cousin and would rather be with me?"

Dugu Qianye had rosy lips and pearly white teeth, along with a handsome appearance. Aside from being somewhat short, his other qualities were quite good. Miss Zhang found herself liking him more the more she looked.

"Move aside if you don’t want to die," Dugu Qianye said coldly.

"You refuse a toast only to drink a forfeit!" Seeing that Dugu Qianye was impervious to persuasion, Miss Zhang shouted, "De Quan, Zhu Hui, seize her and take her back!"

Two burly men rose from a table not far away and approached Dugu Qianye, saying, "Kid, we advise you to follow our miss obediently. Otherwise, it’s not going to be pleasant if you get hurt later." After speaking, the two men released their Phantom Power, and the stars and moon of a level 5 Phantom King manifested.

The Zhang Family indeed had power; even Phantom Kings served as bodyguards.

Dugu Qianye looked at the two men in front of her and said, "Xiaoyin, shrink your body."

"What does the City Lord want with her?" Miss Zhang asked, still maintaining an air of courtesy. Although her Zhang Family was influential, they wouldn’t dare to clash openly with the City Lord’s Mansion.

"Hehe, it seems to be a discussion about the beast tide. If there’s nothing else, Mr. Baili, I shall take him away now." The butler seemed to be asking yet did not wait for a response, then turned and said to Dugu Qianye, "Mr. Baili, please."

Dugu Qianye gave the butler a glance, called Xiaoyin, and was the first to leave the teahouse. The butler followed behind her. Seeing that there was no further excitement to watch, the onlookers too dispersed.

Having left the tea house for a while, Dugu Qianye turned to the butler and said with a cupped-fist salute, "Thank you for your assistance, Butler."

The oiled head was still there; how could the City Lord have sought her out alone to discuss matters? Clearly, the butler had bluffed Miss Zhang.

Together, they headed back to the City Lord’s Mansion. Just as they arrived at the entrance, the alarm bell on the city wall suddenly let out a piercing whistle.

The two hurried back to the City Lord’s Mansion, where a guard at the entrance told them that the City Lord had gone to the city walls early in the morning. The butler said to Dugu Qianye, "You go to the city wall first; I’ll go back and call the others."

Dugu Qianye nodded and rode Xiaoyin towards the south city wall. It took her over ten minutes to arrive at the base of the wall. By then, the defense troops were already in formation atop the city wall.

Showing the token issued by the City Lord’s Mansion, Dugu Qianye passed the inspection and reached the top of the city wall. Upon reaching it, she saw the City Lord’s tall figure. Before Dugu Qianye could approach, the City Lord turned around and said, "You’re here," then turned back to gaze in the direction of Mengjiao Ridge.

"What’s the situation now?" Dugu Qianye asked as she walked over.

"The last message said they were less than two hours away," the City Lord replied. "And the Phantom Beasts are of a higher level than before."

The warning bell on the city tower kept ringing. The citizens of Feier City knew it was an alert for the beast tide. Those who hadn’t heard the news before were perplexed but still cooperatively hid in their homes. The people invited by the City Lord gradually arrived at the city wall.

After they had greeted the City Lord, they all stood heavily on the city wall, looking solemnly toward the south.

In the distance, dust and smoke billowed.

"All the people you invited have now arrived," the butler reported to the City Lord as the last one to ascend.

About an hour later, the figures of Phantom Beasts could be seen from the city wall. There were flying creatures in the sky and runners on the ground.

Less than 10 minutes later, the Phantom Beasts reached the base of Feier City’s walls. However, they didn’t attack immediately but waited in an orderly fashion below the wall.

"City Lord, this is strange," said the butler standing beside the City Lord. "Previous beast tides would attack the city directly, but this time they seem organized, like they’re waiting for someone."

"Indeed, it is odd. We’ll wait and see," said the City Lord, his brows tightly knit.

Without the City Lord’s command, everyone remained still. There were hundreds on the city wall and thousands of Phantom Beasts below, leading to a tense standoff.

The atmosphere was taut, ready to snap.

After a while, the Phantom Beasts began to stir, and all the birds took flight, darkening the sky instantly. It seemed they had received a command, as the Phantom Beasts in the front began their assault on the city wall. The running beasts on the ground started first, followed by the flying creatures in the sky, which had a considerable advantage over the other Phantom Beasts.

As the Phantom Beasts below launched their attack, those on the city wall began to act as well. Phantom Masters summoned their Phantom Beasts, and Sword Masters gripped their swords. Everyone attacked the Phantom Beasts with Phantom Power and Sword Qi assaulting them relentlessly.
