Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Crisis Awareness (Please Favorite, Vote for Recommendation)_1

Yan Xing, while interrogating the mercenaries, unwittingly uncovered some significant issues. Someone in the higher echelons of the Silvermane Principality had tacitly allowed, or even indulged, the mercenaries’ collusion with the Orcs. Perhaps they were directly involved as well.

In subsequent interrogations, Yan Xing learned from the mercenaries that Yarlin seemed to be a member of an unknown mercenary circle, which provided many bounties related to Orcs and Elves. But this circle was not something any mercenary could access.

After answering Yan Xing’s questions, the mercenary pleaded, "Respected Lord, I express my most sincere apologies for my actions. I am just a freelance mercenary, temporarily recruited into Yarlin’s team. When I came here, I had no idea what the mission entailed. Once we joined forces with the Malevolent Wolf Cavalry, it was impossible to back out. I beg your mercy, please don’t kill me. In my distant homeland, my wife and children are waiting for me to return."

Gazing at the surrounding Werewolf Warriors, the mercenary was terrified. In battle, he had seen a Werewolf bite off and eat one of his comrades’ arms. These swamp barbarians really eat anything.

Yan Xing looked at the panicky mercenary. This batch of mercenaries is a hot potato; mishandling them will surely bring me great trouble. I had originally thought of putting them to work in the Eternal Domain, but now, I just want to get rid of these ticking time bombs as quickly as possible. It doesn’t matter who gets caught in the blast, as long as it isn’t me. But how should I do it? Simply let them go? Definitely not. Wouldn’t that just tell those behind these mercenaries that I, their Lord, am afraid of them and dare not provoke them? These people would even sell out their own country! If they knew I was easy to bully, wouldn’t they all rush over to devour me completely? Kill them all? That’s not good either. Killing captives is inauspicious. In future wars, if the enemy knows I have such an ill repute, wouldn’t they all fight me to the death? Therefore... even disposing of them requires tact.

Yan Xing waved his hand and said, "Dig him out!"

The farmers, experienced from days of digging pits, quickly unearthed the mercenary. Thrown at Yan Xing’s feet, the mercenary shivered under the watch of two Werewolf Warriors, repeatedly pleading, "Please, Lord, spare my life! Please, Lord, spare my life..."

Yan Xing tossed aside his cigarette butt, then turned to Olaf at his side and said, "Take him away. Lock these human mercenaries up separately and keep them under strict surveillance! As for food... one meal a day. Just enough so they don’t starve."

"As you command, my Lord," replied the burly Olaf. He grabbed the mercenary by the collar, lifted him from the ground, and dragged him towards the prisoner jail.

Once Olaf had left, Yan Xing summoned Lao Hansi and ordered him to send someone to Nuta City to find Eden.

"Tell Eden... I will be bringing five sets of Ice Jade Porcelain to Nuta City in the next few days, and he should prepare for the Ice Jade Porcelain auction. Also, tell him about Yarlin colluding with Orcs to attack the Eternal Domain... and remind him that I am very concerned for his safety. If Eden asks about the situation here, just say that Yarlin’s mercenaries and the attacking Orc Malevolent Wolf Cavalry have been completely annihilated by me. When I go to Nuta City, I will bring the Orcs’ heads and the captive mercenaries." This also counts as no small military accomplishment, doesn’t it!

Lao Hansi acknowledged the order and withdrew to arrange for people to head to Nuta City overnight.

Then, Yan Xing dispatched a Werewolf Warrior to summon Geng Ya.

Dressed in steel half-plate armor, Geng Ya reverently greeted Yan Xing, saying, "My Lord, Geng Ya has arrived."

After Donna’s massage, Yan Xing felt much more comfortable. The ensuing drowsiness made him yawn, his eyelids growing heavy.

Yan Xing spoke to Geng Ya in a sleepy voice, "You’ve met Li Zhua, haven’t you?"

"I have..." Fearing he might disturb Yan Xing, Geng Ya lowered his voice. "My elder brother holds you in great admiration, my Lord. He believes you will save the entire Werewolf race. Li Zhua is also considering moving our entire tribe from Stenchwater Forest to the vicinity of the Eternal Domain... I wonder if you would agree, my Lord?"

In the assembly hall, Yan Xing had already discerned that Li Zhua was a very astute Werewolf leader. His current wish to move his tribe near the Eternal Domain showcased not only foresight but also a decisiveness that made Yan Xing see him in a new light.

Yan Xing opened his nearly-closed eyes and said to Geng Ya, "Regarding the relocation of the Stenchwater Forest Werewolf Tribe, I will find time to discuss the matter thoroughly with Clan Leader Li Zhua. After this meeting concludes, I will be going to Nuta City for some time. Would you be willing to accompany me?"

Geng Ya immediately knelt on one knee before Yan Xing and said in a low voice, "Geng Ya of Stenchwater Forest wishes to become your follower. I hope you will accept me, my Lord."

Yan Xing, on the verge of sleep, finally roused himself a little. With a smile, he asked Geng Ya, "Does Li Zhua agree?"

"He agrees."

Yan Xing then asked, "All my Werewolf Warriors are under Olaf’s command, and he is not a hero. As a Swamp Beast Tamer, are you willing to accept Olaf’s leadership?"

Geng Ya did not answer immediately. A Beast Tamer was a hero unit, far more powerful than a Second Order elite Roarer. Yan Xing asking Geng Ya to accept Olaf as his superior was bound to cause him some reluctance.

But after careful consideration, Geng Ya said, "I pledge my loyalty to you, my Lord. I respect any assignment you give me and will obey Olaf’s command. I will also use my achievements to prove to you, my Lord, that I am more suited than Olaf to lead the Werewolf Warriors."

Yan Xing could hear the defiance in Geng Ya’s tone, but he also knew Geng Ya was willing to pledge loyalty, likely because Li Zhua had persuaded him.

"Geng Ya, your status as a hero doesn’t mean you are significantly superior to other Werewolves. You are indeed somewhat clever, but in some aspects, there’s still a considerable gap between you and Li Zhua. He, for instance, knows how to properly conduct himself before Duan’er. You still have much to learn. Olaf won’t remain a Second Order Roarer forever; he will definitely become a hero. Currently, you are not yet qualified to challenge his position in my esteem. Alright... go find Gao Sipa and get your equipment for the Light Armored Werewolf Mobile Force. Learn to ride a bicycle quickly so you don’t fall behind. I’m tired and don’t want to move. I’ll sleep here!"

Having said that, Yan Xing, utterly exhausted and drowsy, lay down on the lounge chair and fell asleep.

Geng Ya retreated quietly and left.

Donna covered Yan Xing with a blanket. Then, with the maids’ help, she set up a canopy and enclosed it with curtains to shield him from the cool night air.

Upon learning that their Lord was sleeping there, Eddie immediately rushed over with several heavily armored spearmen. They slowly formed a protective circle around the canopy to ensure their Lord’s safety.

Olaf also assigned additional Werewolf Warriors to patrol the area.

Once all arrangements were made, Donna also brought a lounge chair, placed it outside the canopy, and, evidently weary, fell asleep.

The Eternal Domain was tranquil and quiet that night.

Occasionally, a visiting Werewolf would howl, only to be immediately silenced by an Eternal Domain Werewolf Warrior rushing over.

"My Lord is sleeping! No howling allowed!"
