Mercenary’s War -
Chapter 981 - 981 966 The Ultimate Indoor Weapon
981: Chapter 966: The Ultimate Indoor Weapon 981: Chapter 966: The Ultimate Indoor Weapon Gao Yang was unexpectedly joined by a strong reinforcement and felt somewhat excited, as well as deeply moved.
Due to Bruce’s death, many people were about to head to Syria, but among them, only those from the Satan Mercenary Corps were purely out for revenge for Bruce.
As for the others, whether it was Number Thirteen or Ludwig, or the mercenaries hired with money, they were to fight because of Bruce’s death, but each had their own motives.
Now, in addition to the people from the Satan Mercenary Corps, there was another person who was determined to seek revenge at all costs.
Gao Yang was a bit moved and said solemnly over the phone, “Do you need us to prepare anything for you?”
After a brief pause, Taylor replied, “I can only take a personal pistol with me upon retirement, so I indeed need your help to prepare some things.
As for what to prepare for me, that depends on what role you hope I’ll play.
I’m from the Air Force Combat Control Group; I can take on the role of a special operations combatant, or I can function as a CCT member should.”
Gao Yang responded solemnly, “You need to serve as a combatant, but I need you even more for your previous job.
Here’s the thing, we have many enemies, and it’s foolish to fight them head-on.
My plan is to conduct as many air strikes as possible, so you tell me what you need, and I’ll prepare it.”
After finishing, Gao Yang added, “You should get what you need, the very best.
Don’t worry about the money; just tell me what you need.”
Taylor sounded incredulous, “You mean, as mercenaries, we’ll carry out air operations, including airborne combat?”
“Yes, that’s right.
The most likely scenario involves helicopters, both armed and transport helicopters.
So, I need someone to provide precise target guidance and positioning for the armed helicopters in the air.”
After another brief pause, Taylor said solemnly, “I need an M4A3, a full set of communication equipment, a helmet, and a bulletproof vest.
I’m not concerned about clothes.
Plus, I need GPS, a high-power radio small enough to communicate with the air, and a satellite phone for when I have to contact planes that are too far for the radio.”
Gao Yang asked with a serious tone, “Can you specify the models?
I can purchase according to your requirements.”
Taylor waited a moment and then said, “I can, but it might not be so convenient because some of the equipment I need can’t be found on the civilian market, especially the radio I usually use, which is only equipped by the United States Air Force.”
“You don’t need to worry about these issues.
Just tell me the specific models, and I’ll handle the rest.
Also, the size of the bulletproof vest that fits you.
Tell me all these details.
If it’s not convenient for you now, make a list, and call me when you can, but do it quickly; we don’t have much time left for preparations.”
“Alright, I’ll get it to you as soon as possible.
Also, I have another request.”
“Go ahead.”
“Regarding Bruce’s gun—I mean, is his gun still here?
If it is, could I use it?”
Gao Yang thought for a moment and then said, “We brought Bruce’s guns back; an HK416 rifle, a SIG P226 pistol, and an AK47 as a backup weapon.
As part of Bruce’s legacy, these guns now belong to his widow.
If you want to use Bruce’s guns, you’ll need to obtain the consent of his widow.”
Taylor sounded surprised, “A widow?
Alright, could you ask for me?
Or tell me how to contact her?
I would like to visit his grave as well.”
Gao Yang said solemnly, “Bruce is buried in his family’s cemetery.”
After a long silence, Taylor said in a grave tone, “You brought him home; that’s good.
I will visit Bruce, then see his mother and his child.”
Gao Yang spoke solemnly, “If you’re going to Bruce’s home, you can ask his widow if she’ll let you have the gun.
Oh, I overlooked something—if you can’t leave the United States with the gun, I can ask her and then bring the gun out until we meet.”
“Thank you.
Indeed, I can’t leave the United States with a gun.
Please ask for me, and if it’s possible, bring the gun to where you’re going until I start using it.
I don’t think it will be long.”
“Okay.
Anything else?”
“That’s all.
If I think of anything else, I’ll let you know when I call.
I need to hang up now, goodbye.”
“Goodbye.”
After hanging up the phone, Gao Yang returned to the room and handed the phone back to Jack.
Jack shook the phone and asked, “How did your conversation go?”
Gao Yang smiled and said, “Very well, he’ll join us.
If he calls you again, make a note of what he needs, and give him a phone number, too.”
Jack nodded and replied, “Sure, I’ll do that.”
Gao Yang shrugged his shoulders and laughed, “Well, now that’s settled, let’s see some of that new tech in action.”
Jack sighed, patted his belly and said gravely, “I never thought my figure was a problem, but after Bruce died, I realized how much of an issue it is.
I couldn’t even make it onto the battlefield, although I’ve always wanted to join the military.
Too bad I’ve been overweight since I was a child.”
Gao Yang laughed, “That just means you were born to be a great gunsmith.”
Jack tilted his head and said, “Follow me, we need to go to the outdoor shooting range to test your new ammunition.”
Jack grabbed a large box and slung a Benelli M4 over his shoulder, then he led Gao Yang to Aliland-Moson Studio’s outdoor shooting range.
After putting the box on a table and opening it, Jack took out rows of special FRAG-12 series ammunition for shotguns, which were seated in plastic holders.
The FRAG-12 series had three types: high-explosive shells, shrapnel shells, and armor-piercing shells.
They were developed by Experimental Munitions Ltd and Action Manufacturing Company for 12-gauge shotguns and were initially designed for the AA-12 automatic shotgun.
With a length of 70 millimeters, they could be used in basically all 12-gauge shotguns.
The three types of FRAG-12 ammunition broke free from the traditional concept of shotgun pellets.
Each round had a folding stabilizing tail at the rear and utilized a MIL-SPEC 1316 fuse, which automatically disarmed 3 meters after leaving the barrel.
The effective range for all three types was 200 meters, which for a shotgun “pellet” was quite far, and in urban warfare, especially indoors, such range was not usually necessary.
In U.S.
Army tests, the high-explosive FRAG-12 rounds could penetrate 6 millimeters of steel and then explode, essentially being like miniaturized rifle grenades.
Not only was their usage similar to rifle grenades, but they even looked alike.
Although smaller and necessarily less powerful, these high-explosive rounds were more than sufficient in power for indoor combat.
Shrapnel shells relied on blast waves and fragments to kill, with a lethal radius of 2 meters, which meant a circular area with a 4-meter diameter.
While this may seem small, consider the size of a normal room and it’s clear that these rounds were brutally powerful.
As for the armor-piercing rounds, they could penetrate 100 millimeters of aluminum armor or 12 to 13 millimeters of steel armor.
Gao Yang’s shotgun was compatible with FRAG-12 ammunition, and by using it, he could fill the gap between rockets, rifle grenades, and hand grenades.
Frey’s hand grenades were genius, needing just a hole to throw them through.
At close range, Frey served as Satan’s most crucial heavy firepower, and even precision firepower.
But there was a problem: what to do if there were no openings large enough to toss hand grenades through in a building under attack?
Moving from room to room within a building, encountering spaces that needed to be forcefully breached, where hand grenades couldn’t be thrown in, rocket launchers couldn’t be used, rifle grenades were overkill, and couldn’t breach doors with their impact fuses.
The launcher could harm the user at close range, and they were also slow to reload.
Under such circumstances, Gao Yang’s team would normally have to find a way to break down the door and then throw in hand grenades, but there was no guarantee against being attacked while breaching.
If Gao Yang used his shotgun with FRAG-12 rounds though, he could easily stand outside the door and shoot high-explosive or shrapnel rounds through it.
A volley would practically ensure that no one was left standing inside.
With the automatic AA-12 shotgun firing FRAG-12 rounds, a 20-round drum magazine could unleash hell, clearing anything in its path.
But Gao Yang wouldn’t use the AA-12; it was too big, too heavy, and too long.
Gao Yang was capable of reloading his shotgun without interrupting his shooting, which meant he had a semi-automatic shotgun that could deliver continuous automatic firepower, and it was even more efficient, as he didn’t need to waste time changing magazines.
Jack loaded five FRAG-12 rounds into the shotgun and handed it to Gao Yang.
After taking a deep breath, Gao Yang raised the gun and aimed at a target 40 meters away.
With one shot, the large high-explosive round pierced the wooden target and hit a stack of hollow bricks behind it.
As the explosion rang out and bricks flew in all directions, Gao Yang didn’t stop; he emptied the magazine in one go and then with a long exhale, said, “That was incredible, no wonder it’s called the indoor sweeper.
Just blasting away into a room like that, it’s absolutely thrilling!
How many do you have here?
Give them all to me.” (To be continued.
