Mercenary’s War -
Chapter 917 - 917 907 Easy and Pleasant
917: Chapter 907: Easy and Pleasant 917: Chapter 907: Easy and Pleasant The main attack direction no longer needed fire support, as the troops were already engaging in close-quarters combat, chasing down the enemies.
Gao Yang’s suppression fire was no longer necessary; even if the enemy turned to make a last stand, they wouldn’t be a match for Li Jinfang and his men.
Even experienced soldiers, once they suffer a sudden strike and their morale collapses, leading to a scattered flight for survival, find it quite difficult to reorganize and mount a resistance.
It’s aptly described as a complete rout.
Gao Yang shifted his gun’s direction, setting up the bipod and preparing to shoot prone.
Tommy shifted to the side, repositioning the muzzle of his gun.
He no longer needed to fire rapidly; what he required now was accurate, targeted shooting, with longer intervals between shots.
Gao Yang spotted someone peering out, lifting their gun over their head to fire wildly in his direction.
Normally, such a reckless target could be disregarded, but Gao Yang didn’t even want to face the small possibility of being hit by a stray bullet.
Just as Gao Yang prepared to shoot, the man waving his gun aimlessly behind the brick wall seemed to set off a burst of fireworks like sparks, and then he suddenly disappeared.
Cui Bo boasted proudly over the radio, “F**k, didn’t know the old man’s gun could penetrate walls, haha, thrilling!”
Gao Yang replied discontentedly, “Shut up, keep the channel clean!”
Cui Bo was extremely proud because he could shoot through walls and Gao Yang’s 7.62 mm caliber couldn’t.
After having his targets snatched away to the point of tears, it was finally his turn.
Cui Bo began actively looking for potential targets for wall-piercing shots.
For the 12.7X99 mm armor-piercing bullets, the brick walls of those street-facing buildings were much too thin.
Cui Bo noticed someone running inside a brick house without doors or windows.
He planned to wait for the target to stop before shooting, but soon he saw a barrage sweeping past and the person hidden inside the house was never seen moving again.
“F**k, do you really have to do it like this, do you really have to be this way?”
Cui Bo was on the verge of tears as he remembered that Glolov was also using a large-caliber machine gun which, because the type of target was uncertain, was mostly loaded with a chain of three armor-piercing incendiary bullets to one tracer.
It was even better for shooting through walls than his sniper rifle.
It was clear that Glolov no longer needed to devote all his mental energy to monitoring and suppressing the enemy machine gunners and rocket launcher operators.
Taking control by locating the enemy’s position and striking precisely before the enemy could fire and reveal their location made the battle much simpler, especially since the enemy’s cover wasn’t very sturdy and could be easily penetrated.
After firing a wall-piercing shot, Glolov stopped to reload a new chain of ammunition, working in tandem with Lucica.
He sighed, “Big Bird is so useful, with it, everything is just so much simpler.”
This was the first operation conducted with Jansen providing support, and after trying it just once, everyone fell in love with the convenience and effectiveness, but most importantly, it felt a lot safer.
Meanwhile, Li Jinfang reported over the radio, “We’ve killed nine people; there appear to be twenty-six bodies here.
Each of us is injured, but there should be no more enemies in the main attack direction, Boss.
Please direct us to the next tactical objective.”
The battle was going too smoothly; after pondering for a moment, Gao Yang said, “Then turn around and come back.
Let’s clean up the remaining enemies here.
Since we’ve already started, there’s no need to leave any survivors.”
“Understood, the assault team will return immediately.”
Tommy fired a shell, which struck the roof of a house.
It didn’t seem to penetrate the roof, just kicked up a large cloud of dust.
Over the radio, Tommy said, “I just wanted to see if I could scare anyone out.”
Before Tommy could finish speaking, two people dashed out from an adjacent building.
Gao Yang took one down because he fired the fastest; he had started shooting his second bullet before Glolov and Cui Bo had even opened fire.
Gao Yang’s first shot brought down the enemy, but didn’t kill him.
As the enemy struggled to crawl away, Gao Yang timely fired a second shot, immobilizing him.
As for the one Glolov and Cui Bo shot at, it was unclear who delivered the fatal blow.
Both their guns had the power to obliterate a man with just a graze, making it impossible to tell who had made the kill.
Li Jinfang and his team returned in their vehicle, speeding past two pickup trucks and toward the enemies’ position.
By now, Jansen had called back the drone and, seeing the situation on the battlefield, he loudly reported, “Assault team, there’s an enemy on the second machine gun position.
They seem to be alive, moving, but they must be badly injured.”
The SUV slowed down beside the machine gun position pointed out by Jansen.
Frey pushed open the door that had been left ajar, tossed a grenade toward the machine gun nest, and then shut the door.
After waiting a few seconds for the smoke and dust to clear slightly, Jansen called out urgently, “Ok!
Dead as dead can be.”
The SUV started up again.
At this point, Glolov could no longer provide fire support as the car blocked his line of fire, but Gao Yang and Cui Bo could still rely on their high-precision shooting to supply some degree of suppression and support, even though they had no targets left.
The assault team needed to observe the number of enemy corpses to analyze how much resistance remained, but now with Jansen, they could save even that trouble.
Since the car was bulletproof, the members of the assault team got out and took cover behind it, waiting for someone to direct them to attack the room.
After a moment, Jansen said in a deep voice, “I see eleven bodies outside, six inside the house, wait a second while I switch to night vision and fly inside to check.”
Gao Yang anxiously said, “Hey, hey, are you sure about this?
Don’t crash the drone.”
Jansen chuckled, “Don’t worry.
If it crashes, it’ll come out of my pay.
Just kidding.
How could I possibly crash the drone!”
As he talked, Jansen controlled the drone to the height of the eaves and peered down through the windows or over the doorways, circling a row of damaged houses.
It wasn’t long before Jansen suddenly said, “Target suspected, alright, confirmed enemy target, he’s in that one, that one!
Damn, these houses all look the same.”
Frey asked over the radio, “It’s the room your drone is staying over?”
“Yes, that’s right, just that one!”
Frey stood up to take a look from behind the car’s hood, then squatted down again, pulled out a grenade, looked up again and threw it.
After flying more than twenty meters, the grenade flew accurately through a glassless window into the room and immediately exploded.
“Time for you to eat grenades!”
Jansen instantly said, “Good, I see the blood spilling from the enemy, continuing my search.”
After flying past a few more rooms, Jansen said, “Further search will reach an area beyond direct line of fire, which could be set up for crossfire, making it dangerous if the assault team moves forward from the car cover.
I think it’s better to check that out, wait a second.”
Jansen flew the drone to a building on the other side of the intersection, about forty meters away.
After hovering above a window, he directly controlled the drone to fly inside.
“Wow, wow!
F**k!
F**k!
There are people inside, three of them!
Target confirmed, take them out fast!”
The four members of the assault team leaped up and rushed towards the direction Jansen pointed to.
Then they saw a person with a gun running to the doorway.
Li Jinfang and Eileen fired simultaneously, and as Frey burst out, he had already grabbed the M72 rocket launcher from his back and fired a rocket straight into the door where the person had emerged.
After tossing the empty tube on the ground, Frey and Andy He, with Li Jinfang and Eileen’s cover, rushed toward the enemy’s room.
Upon getting closer and within grenade throwing range, Frey tossed two grenades consecutively, one each through the door and window.
Next was room clearance.
Although it was unlikely anyone inside was still alive, the four members of the assault team remained highly vigilant.
Once Li Jinfang and Eileen entered the room, they each fired two shots and then reported over the radio, “Three people, confirmed dead.”
Jansen breathed a sigh of relief and said, “You scared me to death; they shot at the drone.
Thankfully, it wasn’t hit, just missed by a bit, scared me to death.”
Gao was very satisfied with the role Jansen played, and he said with a laugh, “Don’t mind it; if the drone hadn’t gone in, we wouldn’t have found them, and not finding them would pose a great threat to the assault team.
So even if the drone were shot down, it wouldn’t matter.
That’s different from crashing due to poor control, guys.
Losing a few thousand bucks is way better than getting someone hurt.
Big Bird, continue the recon.
If some areas are uncertain, fly in and have a look.”
Since there was a way to avoid risking lives, safety was the priority.
It took Jansen more than ten minutes to thoroughly search the area before he announced loudly, “No discoveries.
Even if there are enemies left alive, they must have fled.
There are twenty-five bodies on this side.”
Gao Yang laughed and said, “Twenty-five bodies, plus the twenty-six on the main attack front.
Alright, that should be all of them.
Combat’s over, relax and be merry, guys.
Alert withdrawal.”
After speaking, Gao Yang waved at Tolkien, who was in the other house, and gestured to signal that the battle was over.
Tolkien watched the soldiers at the checkpoint from inside the house to ensure they wouldn’t fire excitedly at the Satan Mercenary Corps.
He had seen the entirety of Gao Yang and the others’ combat process from a few doorways through the windows.
Tolkien, holding an unfired AK47, walked up to Gao Yang in a daze, rubbed his face vigorously, and then said with a bewildered look, “The fight’s over?
No casualties on your side?” (To be continued.
