Mercenary’s War -
Chapter 870 - 870 860 That Blazing Flame
870: Chapter 860: That Blazing Flame 870: Chapter 860: That Blazing Flame If you’re outnumbered, you move and fight, but with greater numbers, you naturally think of ways to encircle the enemy and fight, taking full advantage of the numerical and firepower superiority.
Gao Yang and Andy He faced a rather unique situation, they had the overall advantage in numbers, but when they began flanking the enemy, they became two isolated forces in a position of weakness.
The Iron Madonna’s fighters wouldn’t just let themselves be slaughtered.
Once they had a moment to respond, the situation could spiral out of control.
However, taking into consideration the element of surprise, Gao Yang and Andy He weren’t in much danger.
All they had to do was open fire quickly and kill all the enemies.
So Gao Yang fired his gun at an enemy he spotted, hitting the prone figure in the back.
However, his target was wearing a bulletproof vest, and the lead pellets from the Shotgun didn’t have enough penetration power.
Seeing the enemy take the hit like a blow from a hammer, yet still struggling to move their gun, Gao Yang immediately followed up with a shot to the enemy’s face.
Using the Shotgun, Gao Yang was reluctant to shoot at the face, because it was too disgusting.
At a distance it wasn’t so bad, but up close, seeing a person’s face explode like a cracked egg, with all sorts of colored liquid flying around, always seemed revolting to Gao Yang.
After firing once, Gao Yang lost sight of his target.
The enemy’s positioning was very strategic; no two individuals were within a single Grenade’s kill radius.
Gao Yang temporarily lost his target, but after moving forward just a few steps, he saw a small clump of bushes moving.
The enemy’s camouflage was excellent.
Even at less than ten meters away, Gao Yang hadn’t distinguished it immediately.
However, with the enemy’s gun pointed in the direction of the main force, to engage Gao Yang, who was close at hand, the enemy had to move.
Gao Yang fired repeatedly at the bushes, and then a figure covered in a tawny-green camouflage fell out of the shrubbery and into a puddle beside him.
“Cease fire!”
Advancing any further would bring Gao Yang into the firing range of his own comrades, so he yelled out to cease fire to avoid accidental injury.
With the guns falling silent, the battlefield momentarily plunged into quietness, the enemy had not fired a single shot from start to finish.
Gao Yang rushed forward a few steps, then saw a massively built man struggling to rise from the ground, like a giant from legends emerging from underground.
Standing at two meters ten, his arms thicker than Gao Yang’s thighs, and bearing a ferocious visage, the giant’s movements were slow, but he was indeed imposing.
As the giant struggled to his feet, Gao Yang saw Andy He had already made his way to the front of the behemoth.
Gao Yang watched as Andy He raised his rifle to the giant’s head, ready to pull the trigger, but the giant’s Flamethrower was not aimed at Andy He.
Gao Yang had given up on shooting the giant, also known as Flamethrower Dragon, and instead scanned the surroundings for other enemies.
Just as he turned his head for a quick look, he turned back in astonishment towards the position of Andy He and Flamethrower Dragon.
Gao Yang didn’t hear the expected gunshot, then he saw Andy He deflect the Flamethrower Dragon’s weapon with his rifle, then swing the butt of the gun onto Flamethrower Dragon’s shoulder.
Andy He should have struck Flamethrower Dragon in the throat with the butt of his rifle, but given Flamethrower Dragon’s size, and the fact that Andy He was wielding a FAMAS Rifle which possesses no stock.
Andy He, being of short stature, was even more at a disadvantage because the FAMAS Rifle, prior to the release of Huaxia’s Type 95 rifle, was the shortest assault rifle in the world.
So, when Andy He aimed for Flamethrower Dragon’s throat, the blow ended up hitting the shoulder instead.
Gao Yang swung his rifle back around, ready to blow off Flamethrower Dragon’s head.
Despite Flamethrower Dragon’s height and entanglement with Andy He, Gao Yang was confident he could take down Flamethrower Dragon without hurting Andy He.
But Andy He didn’t give Gao Yang a chance to fire.
Andy He released his left hand and swung the rifle with his right hand at Flamethrower Dragon’s face, but Flamethrower Dragon reached out with one hand, knocked the rifle from Andy He’s grasp, and after causing Andy He to stagger, turned the muzzle back towards Andy He.
In that moment, Andy He ducked down and dashed to Flamethrower Dragon’s back, then in one jump, he clutched at Flamethrower Dragon’s fuel tank and clambered onto his back.
Gao Yang almost fired the bullet meant for the Flamethrower Dragon’s head towards Andy He instead.
Realizing that Andy He had unbelievably made it onto Flamethrower Dragon’s back, Gao Yang quickly raised his barrel higher and fired a shot into the air.
Flamethrower Dragon, with Andy He on his back, spun around in chaos.
Gao Yang dared not fire again as he ran towards the two men.
Andy He had both hands around Flamethrower Dragon’s neck, lifted off his feet by the spinning, when Flamethrower Dragon reached out with his left hand and grabbed Andy He’s arm.
Bending over, he yanked hard with his left hand, attempting to pull Andy He down.
Flamethrower Dragon was incredibly strong, and Andy He’s upper body slipped downwards as he was dragged, but just when it seemed Flamethrower Dragon was about to fling him away, Andy He clenched his legs tightly around Flamethrower Dragon’s neck and mounted the giant’s back.
The Flamethrower Dragon roared angrily and tried again to pull Andy He off, but his arm was already raised to its height, unable to exert his brute strength, so Andy He still firmly clamped his legs around the Flamethrower Dragon’s neck.
After finally discarding the flamethrower he was holding, the Flamethrower Dragon stood up and reached out with his right hand to try and grab Andy He.
After Andy He had straightened up, he fiercely clamped his legs around the Flamethrower Dragon’s face, riding on its neck, his left arm still being held up by the Flamethrower Dragon, while his right hand reached for the gun at his waist.
Andy He drew his pistol, aimed at the Flamethrower Dragon’s head, and fired a shot.
However, his shot was off target; the bullet grazed the Flamethrower Dragon’s forehead, carving a bloody groove but not inflicting a fatal wound.
Feeling the deadly threat to his head, the Flamethrower Dragon roared and swung his hand, failing to catch Andy’s arm but managing to grab Andy’s pistol.
With a strong yank, the Flamethrower Dragon wrested the pistol from Andy’s hand right after it had fired.
Andy He did not try to take back the pistol.
Instead, he reached down and, pulling out a shiny little knife from his belt, quickly made a slash across the neck of the Flamethrower Dragon.
The Flamethrower Dragon made a strange gurgling noise as a very fine bloodstain appeared on its thick neck.
With one slash cutting through the Flamethrower Dragon’s windpipe and artery, blood burst from the tiny wound.
Andy He did not stop there; he reversed the scalpel and stabbed wildly at the Flamethrower Dragon’s face.
The Flamethrower Dragon emitted another strange gurgle, dropped the pistol sleeve it had been holding in its right hand, and released Andy’s arm, covering its eyes with its left hand, while its massive right hand reached back to grasp Andy’s right ribs, intending to pull him down.
Gao Yang had rushed to the scene, only to see Andy straddling the neck of the Flamethrower Dragon, his body being jerked around yet stubbornly refusing to fall.
In Andy’s right hand was a gleaming scalpel, slashing wildly at the Flamethrower Dragon’s face, neck, and the arm and hand protecting them.
The Flamethrower Dragon was in a panic, dragging Andy around in circles on the spot, its right hand pulling and striking.
Spinning around in chaos, Gao Yang dared not shoot at the vital spots.
Just as he aimed downward to shoot the Flamethrower Dragon’s legs, he heard someone exclaim in surprise, “Fuck!
What’s going on here?”
Gao Yang lowered his gun without firing, when suddenly the Flamethrower Dragon’s huge body collapsed to the ground, bringing down Andy He, who had been riding it, as well.
The Flamethrower Dragon fell forward and didn’t move again.
Andy’s legs were trapped under its body.
As Gao Yang hurried over to help pull Andy out, he saw Eileen reaching out too.
Gao Yang and Eileen together yanked Andy forward.
Before Andy was completely free, they each fired a shot with one hand at the Flamethrower Dragon’s back.
After the follow-up shots, Andy’s voice screamed hoarsely, “Duck!”
Gao looked up only to see two men charging towards him.
Diving forward to the ground, Gao felt as if his head had smashed into a wall.
Eileen rolled to the side and started firing as she lay down.
Meanwhile, Gao also heard gunshots around him.
As Gao fired at the two approaching men with his gun, the enemies had already hit the ground.
Gao fired his shotgun and, not seeing the enemy, he glanced sideways, catching sight of the flamethrower lying on the ground next to the Flamethrower Dragon.
Gao Yang grabbed the nozzle, shouting, “Get down and don’t raise your heads!”
But as soon as Gao had finished shouting, he had already aimed the flamethrower at the enemies’ concealed position and pulled the trigger.
Lying on the Flamethrower Dragon’s corpse, Gao released a fiery dragon from the weapon in his hands.
While spraying, Gao Yang, not wanting the fire to hit Andy He’s head, intentionally aimed the nozzle higher, and then the fire stream passed less than twenty centimeters above the back of Andy He’s head.
The flamethrower’s recoil was intense; with the nozzle lifted, it was pushed even higher by the recoil.
After sweeping the fiery dragon to both sides, Gao immediately released the trigger.
Two men leaped up from the ground, flames consuming them as they let out horrific screams, stumbling around in circles until, in less than two seconds, both fire people collapsed.
At that moment, Andy He also let out a piercing scream.
Turning his head and seeing that Gao had stopped firing, he immediately rubbed his neck desperately with his hands.
The temperature of the flamethrower’s flame reached over one thousand degrees Mi.
Gao Yang’s few seconds of firing were enough to burn Andy’s exposed neck and even curl the hair outside his helmet, turning Andy’s neck a bright red in just a few seconds.
“Hot!
Hot!
It’s burning me alive!”
After Andy’s agonized scream, he urgently cried out, “Water!
Water!
Give me water!
It’s so hot!
It’s burning me alive!”
