Mercenary’s War
Chapter 730 - 730 722 This is the Rhythm of Running Wild

730: Chapter 722: This is the Rhythm of Running Wild 730: Chapter 722: This is the Rhythm of Running Wild Gao Yang glanced at his watch, only just over an hour had passed, and Li Jinfang had caused another massacre.

“Mad, mad, all gone mad, Toad has completely lost his mind.”

Frey shook his head helplessly, while Glolov murmured, “F**k, if Toad keeps this up, I don’t know if he really has gone crazy, but I do know the cops in Pointe Noire are going to be driven mad by him.”

Gao Yang felt like crying without tears, Li Jinfang had switched to massacre mode.

Pascal was indeed very thorough in his work.

Without waiting for Gao to say anything, he had already left an informant to provide intelligence.

After flashing Pascal an uglier smile than crying, Gao whispered, “Where’s the scene this time, far from here?”

Pascal too looked helpless, replying, “It’s about a thirty-minute drive from here, and only twenty minutes from the scene we just left.”

Gao shook his head helplessly and said to the people around him, “Guys, Toad’s approach is somewhat different from what I had in mind.”

Glolov said in a deep voice, “What difference?”

Gao sighed, “To find a few robbers or riffraff, gangsters are quicker than the police.

If it were me, I’d find a big gang with wide influence and lots of manpower.

Whether I beat them into submission or bought them off with money, they would be able to dig out the people I’m looking for.

So, we could just wait in a gang’s territory for Toad to show up.

But the problem is, Toad seems to be killing anyone he sees now, he’d murder a gang if they banded together or go after lone wolves on the streets, with no plan whatsoever.”

Hearing Gao’s words, the others had little reaction, but Pascal was close to tears; his worst nightmare had come true.

These people were indeed with that serial killer.

Seeing Pascal’s expression, Gao sighed and said, “Buddy, I know what you’re worried about, but I can tell you now your worries are completely unnecessary.

I can tell you the truth; we are indeed with that guy who’s killing people everywhere.

But we are not the sort to senselessly kill, in fact, we never kill.

We’re all people with special identities and missions.

Our friend, well, you also know why he’s killing, right?

So you have to understand, he’s been driven to madness, that’s why he’s doing this.

As for us, we definitely won’t go around killing like him, so you don’t need to be afraid at all.”

Once Gao had opened up, Pascal’s expression lightened up considerably.

After hesitating for a while, he asked cautiously, “Are you guys spies?

Like 007 or something?”

Gao gave Pascal a knowing smile and replied softly, “Now that you know, there’s no need to say it out loud.”

Pascal, swallowing his excitement, whispered, “Then who are you with?

Huaxia?”

Gao shook his head and said, “CIA!

Friend, the situation is urgent, and we arrived too hastily without adequate preparation, which is why you’ve really been a huge help.

That’s why I’m willing to disclose this to you.

Now, would you like to continue helping us?”

Pascal nodded and whispered quietly, “Of course, of course, no problem, sir.

Thank you for confiding this to me.

So what should I do now?”

After thinking for a moment, Gao figured it would be more pressing to get ahead of Li Jinfang, and said immediately, “The closest gang or any bastards’ gathering place to where someone was just killed again, where is it?

You understand what I mean, right?”

After pondering for a moment, Pascal said, “There are roughly two places, one is what I’ve just told you about, those people from Kinshasa, and another place is the Red Light District, where a gang controls many illegal prostitutes.”

Gao felt a headache coming on and said, “Two places, where should we go?”

Glolov said, “Why not split up and cover both?”

Gao thought that was a good idea and immediately said, “Alright, we’ll operate separately, each to monitor a location.

If you see Toad, stop him.”

Frey said anxiously, “And if we can’t stop him?”

Gao glared at Frey without saying a word, but his meaning was clear to Frey; if they couldn’t stop him, then don’t try to stop Li Jinfang, just join in and help him out.

They were worried about Li Jinfang’s safety, not there to prevent him from getting his revenge.

Having decided to split up, Gao said, “We’re short on time, there’s no chance to look for weapons, so let’s get moving fast.

Tyrannosaurus, is your French okay?”

Eileen made an OK gesture, replying, “No problem.”

Gao Yang immediately pointed to Glolov, Frey, and Tommy, then said in a deep voice, “You three go one way, let Pascal lead you.

We’ll take another route.

If you find Toad, call us immediately.

That’s it, let’s split up and move out.”

Gao Yang’s arrangement was deliberate.

Glolov and the others had spent more time with Li Jinfang, and if they encountered a vengeful Li Jinfang blinded by rage, he was more likely to listen to them.

Li Jinfang would definitely listen to Gao Yang.

Even if he was truly driven mad with anger, Gao Yang could still control him, so Gao Yang took Eileen and Rafael with him.

After deciding on their plan, they had Pascal tell Eileen how to say their destination in French.

Then the seven of them quickly split up, each getting into a different taxi and heading toward their target location.

By this time, Gao Yang wasn’t too worried anymore.

Li Jinfang was still up and about, killing people left and right; he obviously wasn’t in any trouble.

And now that they had arrived, they would naturally not let Li Jinfang lose his life.

The only urgent matter was to find Li Jinfang.

And even if Li Jinfang still wanted revenge, they needed to wait until everyone was together and they had located their target before taking action.

Once they reached the so-called Red Light District and got out of the car, Gao Yang realized that the place was much better than he had imagined.

Pointe Noire was a major port city with quite decent urban development by African standards, and the security situation was relatively good.

Moreover, Pointe Noire was the economic center of Congo-Brazzaville, with the country’s timber and mineral resources all being shipped out from here to the rest of the world.

There were also quite a few foreigners.

The city being nice meant that the Red Light District was also well-developed.

Although the houses on both sides of the street weren’t exactly orderly, with both modern bungalows and mud-wall, tin-roof houses present, and the streets not particularly clean, it was still a far cry from the slums that Gao Yang was accustomed to seeing in African red-light districts.

During the day, not many people were walking down the alleys, but the characteristics of the Red Light District were evident in the languid women sitting by their doorsteps.

Gao Yang and the other two walked slowly down the nearly empty street.

People in the tropics always seemed somewhat lazy, including the prostitutes.

The slothful women sitting at the doors merely posed in exposing yet uninviting positions upon seeing Gao, but none came forward to solicit.

After walking a few steps, Gao Yang frowned and said, “This place seems pretty calm; nothing must have gone down yet.

I wonder if Toad will show up.”

With a helpless tone, Rafael said, “I hope he comes, Boss.

What do we do?

Just roam the streets and wait for him”?

Gao Yang replied with a sense of resignation, “Eileen, go and ask how long this street is and if there’s another way out at the front.

If it’s long, we’ll keep moving forward, but if it’s short, we’ll find a place to wait.

It would be best to find a spot where it seems like gang members gather, and then we can keep an eye on them.”

Eileen quickly approached a woman sitting at the edge of the street, handed her a small bill, and then started asking questions in French.

After a brief conversation, Eileen came back and said in a low voice, “This street is quite long, about one thousand five hundred meters.

There’s a main road at the other end, and that’s where there are restaurants and bars.

I just asked around, and many of the gang members in charge of watching this street mostly gather at the street entrance over there.”

Gao Yang breathed a sigh of relief and said, “Let’s go, wait over there.”

They hadn’t gone far when they heard someone ahead shouting desperately.

Eileen’s face changed dramatically as she exclaimed urgently, “There’s been a murder!”

Without needing to say more, the three of them broke into a run.

The women sitting in the shade of trees along the roadside quickly ran back to their houses and closed the doors behind them.

As Gao Yang and his companions ran forward, they saw people running towards them, and just then, Gao Yang heard the sound of gunfire, like beans popping.

The shootout had begun, and Li Jinfang’s speed was simply too fast, killing relentlessly from one place to the next.

Gao Yang cursed inwardly as he sprinted.

But even at his fastest, covering more than a thousand meters took time.

After running for more than a minute, Gao could already see people on the street shooting wildly; the gunfire suddenly stopped.

When they were only two to three hundred meters from the street corner, Gao watched helplessly as a man limped to a car, got in, and then the vehicle sped away in a puff of smoke.

After the car had gone, two more people jumped out from the side of the street, guns in hand, and shot repeatedly at the retreating car.

Gao Yang, so angry he was almost spitting blood, continued to watch as Eileen let out a loud shout and picked up the pace even more.

But they had already pushed their speed to the limit.

Catching up to the departing car was impossible.

By the time the three of them reached the street corner, all they saw was destruction—a half-dozen or so bodies sprawled on the ground.

Next to what might have been either a restaurant or a bar, a canopy table setup was totaled, with several bodies lying in disarray, their hands still clutching guns.

Furthermore, two men stood at the street entrance, each holding a handgun, looking at each other.

As Gao Yang came panting to a stop, one of the gunmen heard the footsteps, turned his head for a brief look, and like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, suddenly jumped and aimed his gun at Gao, but his pistol was empty.

The slide merely clicked, and no bullets were fired.

The other, seeing Gao’s face, let out an odd cry and turned to run away, screaming.

After Eileen rushed forward and knocked down the black man, apparently frightened by Gao Yang’s Asian features, with a single punch, Gao Yang, feeling utterly dejected, said, “This, this… Toad is really out of control.”
