Mercenary’s War -
Chapter 711 - 711 703 Unfamiliar Environment
711: Chapter 703: Unfamiliar Environment 711: Chapter 703: Unfamiliar Environment Dusselyev was holding a blade in his hand, and he successfully slit his own neck’s main artery.
Blood sprayed out like a fountain, drenching the entire bathroom with bloodstains, and also covering Gao Yang and his companions.
With the main artery completely severed, Dusselyev, still wearing a ferocious smile, fell into the bathtub.
In less than a minute, he had completely lost all signs of life.
Looking at the mess in the bathroom, Gao Yang covered his eyes with his hand, saying weakly, “Guys, we’ve screwed it up, completely screwed it up.”
Glolov also wore a pained expression, fiercely saying, “This damn bastard, really, he’s just been too tough to handle.”
Tommy turned on the faucet above the sink, washed the blood off his face, and then gave a wry smile, “We’re just too unprofessional.”
Gao Yang and his team were too crude and brutal when it came to interrogation and torture, unprofessional in every sense of the word.
Glolov was considered experienced, but his interrogation techniques were merely crude tasks like chopping off fingers or gouging out eyes.
It’s no wonder, as they were mercenaries, frequently using such methods to extract information on the battlefield where they would catch a prisoner and directly ask questions.
If there was no answer, they’d beat him up; if still no answers, they’d just shoot him dead, without worrying about whether the prisoner might die or how to handle the corpse.
Now, things were different.
They were in New York, America’s core city with the best law enforcement.
Gao Yang and his team could kill and then simply flee, but Natalia and Yelena, as well as Frey’s family, couldn’t just leave, still employing the battlefield tactics—it definitely wouldn’t work.
Looking at the corpse in the bathtub, Gao Yang lamented, “I searched him already, didn’t notice he still had a blade on him, and we should’ve tied him up.”
Tommy smacked his lips, “Who would’ve thought this guy could take so much beating?
After several times, he still had such strength to act.”
Glolov gave a wry smile and said, “It’s my fault, my mind was too chaotic at the time.
Ah, he was from the KGB, comparing him to an ordinary person was definitely a huge mistake.”
Just then, someone knocked gently on the door, and Gao Yang, holding a pistol, went to the door.
Outside, Frey said softly, “It’s me, open the door.”
After Gao Yang opened the door, Frey immediately rushed into the room and then urgently whispered, “I didn’t see anyone on the road outside the apartment, no cars either.
I waited and circled around but didn’t find anything.
Hmm, boss, what happened here?”
Gao Yang gave a bitter smile, waved his hand, and said, “Just go and see for yourself.”
After seeing the situation in the bathroom, Frey covered his head with his hand, saying weakly, “My God, what have you guys done?
Even a slaughterhouse is cleaner than this.”
Gao Yang sighed and said, “This old fellow has turned into a cunning devil.
Now, I can’t believe a word he says.
We’ve been completely played by him, but at least, we didn’t let this guy actually turn the tables; otherwise, we’d really become the joke of the day.”
Glolov heaved another long sigh, “It’s all my fault.
As soon as I saw Dusselyev, I panicked.
Now, what do we do?
How do we handle the body?”
Tommy frowned and said, “Who among you watches those crime movies a lot?
Think if there’s any feasible method we can use.
I can’t manage; in the past, when we killed someone, we just left the body unburied.
I don’t know how to do such detailed work.”
Glolov also wore a grimace, “Same here, who cares about a corpse in the middle of a war.”
Frey rubbed his chin, “Hmm, in South Africa, the method was simple too.
Just load the corpse into a vehicle and dump it by the roadside, but here, this is New York, we definitely can’t do that.”
Gao Yang thought for a moment, then suddenly said, “Handling this could really spell big trouble.
How about I try calling a cleaner?
”
Glolov frowned, “That was in South Africa, this is New York.
Even if cleaners are willing to take the job, can we afford to wait?”
Gao Yang shook his head, “No, they are a global organization, and besides, the black elder who greeted me gave me a telephone number, saying if I needed cleaning work done, I could call that number, but it’s very expensive, extremely expensive.”
Glolov frowned, “Spending the money isn’t a problem, the key is reliability and whether they can come on time.”
Gao Yang nodded, “It should be reliable.
That old man told me they only do business with people they know.
If it weren’t for Grand Ivan’s introduction, they wouldn’t have given me their number.
And they only deal with big jobs.
Since even Grand Ivan thinks these people are reliable, I think there shouldn’t be a problem?”
Glolov waved his hand, “Call them, we have to try.”
Gao Yang went out, found his satellite phone, and dialed the number left by the cleaner he had previously dealt with.
Soon, someone answered the call.
“Hello, may I ask who’s calling?”
The person who answered was a gentle female voice.
Gao Yang thought for a moment about the codeword taught by the old man in South Africa, then whispered softly, “Hello, I’m looking for Ann Bond Crawford Demar, my name is Ram, I need to discuss some matters with him.”
The name Gao Yang gave was arranged in the order of the initials ABCD, one of the codewords, followed by his own name.
If someone responded, then he could locate the cleaner.
If the person on the phone directly told him he had dialed the wrong number, then it would mean the cleaners didn’t want to deal with him, and there would be no point in calling again.
“Mr.
Ram, please hold on a moment.”
Fortunately, after Gao Yang declared his name, a woman’s voice on the phone promptly responded, and after a few seconds, a man took the call.
“Mr.
Ram, hello, I am Crawford.
What can I do for you?”
Gao Yang, somewhat anxious, whispered, “I need a cleaning service, in New York, is that possible?”
The person on the line paused briefly and then asked, “Is it possible, for how long?
What kind of service is needed?”
Gao Yang quickly responded, “The sooner the better, it must not exceed twenty-four hours, I need transportation, um, I don’t know how to put it…
It’s that kind of troublesome stuff.”
The man claiming to be Crawford laughed over the phone and said, “Sir, you are a client personally vouched for by Grand Ivan, so I am a second-tier operator.
This line can ensure safety, please be assured, you don’t need to worry about anything, just explain what you need.”
Gao Yang, invigorated, replied, “That’s great, I need to dispose of a body.
The origin of this body is quite problematic.”
“Alright sir, to dispose of a body, could you further explain—what adversaries we need to guard against?
Other than the usual suspects like the police and the FBI, is there anything else we should be aware of?”
Although unsure whether what Dusselyev said was true, Gao Yang decided to be cautious, thus he whispered, “The Russian Mafia.”
“Understood, our cleaning team will arrive soon, please give me an address.”
After giving the address, the other party quickly said, “Alright, please hold on, our people will arrive shortly.
Remember, the entry code is ‘Doctor Kelson,’ goodbye.”
Before Gao Yang could respond, the call was abruptly disconnected, leaving him holding the satellite phone, stunned, “That damned operator, he didn’t tell me how long it would take for the cleaners to get here.
Are we just supposed to keep waiting?”
Glolov, visibly tense, asked, “Can these cleaners be trusted?”
Gao Yang frowned and said, “They should be fine, I guess.
We’re just relying on the cleaners now, but we can’t keep dragging this on.
Natalia and Yelena must leave; they can’t stay here anymore.”
Having said that, Gao Yang spoke to Frey, “Go home and tell Natalia and Yelena not to worry anymore, everything has been taken care of.
Don’t mention the killing, just tell them they need to stay a bit longer at your place.”
Frey nodded and asked, “Boss, should we look for another house for them straight away, and should we call the others back?”
Gao Yang glanced at Glolov, who shook his head and said, “Hmm, let’s not notify anyone just yet, wait a bit longer, let’s see how things go.”
Frey stood up and said, “Then I’ll head back first, I’ll come back later.”
With Frey gone, Gao Yang and the other two stayed in the bathroom staring at Dusselyev’s body, cluelessly glancing around at each other.
To them, New York felt both the most familiar and the most alien of places.
Once people leave their familiar environments, they always lack a certain drive.
If this were the lawless battlefield, Gao Yang assured that killing was as simple as blinking an eye.
Even off the battlefield, killing wasn’t a big deal, but this was New York, where Yelena went to school, where three families lived permanently.
There’s a saying that even a rabbit doesn’t eat the grass by its burrow; killing here isn’t as simple as just walking away afterward.”
After about fifteen minutes of waiting and hearing someone knocking, Gao Yang thought it was Frey coming back.
However, upon asking who it was, he heard a deep voice outside saying, “I am Doctor Kelson.”
Gao Yang’s eyes widened instantly, and he gestured hesitantly to Glolov and Tommy before reluctantly deciding to open the door.
There stood an old man in his late sixties at the door, his hair completely white, his face marked with age spots, slightly stooped, dressed in a suit, carrying a typical family doctor’s medical case.
After opening the door, the old man nodded and said, “Is this Mr.
Ram?”
Gao Yang stepped aside and said, “I am Mr.
Ram, please come in.”
Once inside, the old man glanced around and asked, “Just call me Kelson.
Where’s the body?”
Gao Yang pointed, and as Kelson headed towards the bathroom, Gao Yang noticed that Kelson was limping.
Kelson, limping, entered the bathroom and upon seeing Glolov and Tommy holding guns, simply nodded, shook his head, and said, “Small scene, tell me your demands, and then I’ll give you a quote.
If we agree, I’ll have it cleared up in thirty minutes.”(To be continued.
