Notably, every single one of them paid special attention to Gao Yang; most asked right away, “Is he your boyfriend?”

It was alright when he met the girls, but when Yelena enthusiastically greeted the boys, Gao Yang felt hostile glances several times.

Without a doubt, the sole purpose of Yelena dragging Gao Yang for a walk was to show off.

However, unlike other girls who flaunted luxury cars or designer bags, Yelena had no interest in those things; she flaunted Gao Yang instead.

After leaving the campus satisfied, with her arm through Gao Yang’s, they got into the car.

Yelena let out a sigh and smiled, “Well, I finally got to show you off to my classmates.”

Gao Yang smiled and said, “We should have dinner now, what would you like to eat?”

Yelena snapped her fingers and said, “I know a very authentic Chinese restaurant.

My Huaxia exchange students say it’s truly authentic, not the adapted nonsense for Americans; you’ll definitely like it.”

Gao Yang was indeed interested and immediately said, “Alright, let’s go there.

Where is it?”

After thinking for a moment, Yelena suddenly clapped her hands and said, “Oh, my darling, I forgot something important.

We need to go back home after dinner.

I have something very important to give you, and also, I need to bring something to school tomorrow.

If we aren’t planning to go home tonight, it’s best we go grab those things first.”

Gao Yang laughed and said, “No problem, we can pick them up after dinner, and then come out again.

Hmm, what is it you’re giving me?”

Yelena pouted and said, “It’s not from me; I’m giving it to you on Catherine’s behalf.

She once gave you a watch, and since your watch is broken, she bought a new one for you.

But she said she doesn’t know when she can see you again, so she asked me to give it to you.”

Gao Yang felt slightly embarrassed and said, “Oh, I see, no rush then.”

Gao Yang was worried Yelena might be jealous, and indeed, Yelena pouted as if she was.

However, after a moment, she sighed and said, “Ah, I know what Catherine is thinking, but really, I’m not that petty.”

After speaking, Yelena suddenly shook her head and said, “No, when it comes to love, I am quite petty.

But I know there’s nothing between you and Catherine, right?

If it’s just a normal friendship, she wouldn’t need me to pass things for her.”

Gao Yang cleared his throat and said, “Exactly, as long as you know.

Hmm, what do you need to pick up from home?

If it’s not very important, maybe we can skip going back.”

Yelena shook her head and laughed, “No way, I have a theory assignment due tomorrow; it has to be turned in.”

After speaking, Yelena sighed and said, “A full twenty-one-page analysis paper; I worked on it for a whole half month.

If I don’t submit it tomorrow, I’ll be in trouble.”

Gao Yang smiled; Yelena’s words reminded him of his own college days.

Watching his much younger and beautiful girlfriend, Gao Yang leaned over and gently kissed Yelena.

Then he started the car and followed the route Yelena directed them on.

Unfortunately, Yelena had only heard about the location of the Chinese restaurant but had never visited it herself.

She wasn’t very familiar with the directions and made two mistakes, coupled with New York’s terrible traffic.

It took them over an hour to finally dine.

Gao Yang and Yelena were deeply affectionate; they didn’t mind spending extra time on the road, stopping in traffic jams just to keep kissing, not really feeling the delay.

Moreover, the meal they had was indeed authentic Chinese food, making the dinner both extremely comfortable and sweet.

It was just past eight when they finished eating.

Everything else aside, they decided to pick up things from Yelena’s place first.

Hand in hand, chatting and laughing, they entered the apartment and reached the elevator.

Just as they got in and the elevator doors were about to close, Gao Yang saw someone running toward the elevator through the closing gap.

Gao Yang, being considerate, pressed the elevator open button; almost at the same time, a hand reached in through the closing gap.

After the doors reopened, a white, chubby man entered the elevator.

Gao Yang moved his hand from the open to the close button and the elevator began its ascent.

Just then, the white man standing next to Gao Yang and Yelena belched loudly, instantly filling the elevator with a foul smell of alcohol.

The white man looked to be in his late fifties or early sixties, with graying hair and a big belly, appearing quite friendly with a constant smile on his face.

However, Gao Yang couldn’t help but feel there was something insincere about the man’s smile, finding it rather distasteful.

The white man pressed the button for the twenty-fourth floor, but after doing so, he stood by the elevator door, gave Yelena a sidelong glance, and then moved to the side, continuing to burp occasionally.

The apartment had only twenty-four floors.

The Glolov family, the Frye family, and Vita, who had become Tommy’s girlfriend, all lived on the twentieth floor.

Soon, the elevator reached the twentieth floor.

Gao Yang stepped forward first, holding the elevator door and waiting for Yelena to step out first.

Just as she did, and Gao Yang was about to follow, Yelena suddenly screamed and slapped the nearly sixty-year-old man across the face.

Gao Yang saw it clearly.

When Yelena stepped out of the elevator, the old man patted her on the buttocks.

Yelena was a firecracker, but in front of Gao Yang, she was as docile as a kitten.

Yet, Gao Yang could never forget the combat prowess she displayed the first time they met.

Gao Yang was fuming.

Actually, when Yelena slapped him, Gao Yang had wanted to retaliate right away.

But with Yelena standing right in front of him, he couldn’t immediately kick first and ask questions later.

Yelena’s slap flashed past as the older, pudgy man, agile for his age, quickly grabbed her wrist.

The old man chuckled, but at that moment, Gao Yang moved past Yelena, his eyes red with fury, and threw a punch.

The old man’s laughter returned as he instantly released Yelena’s hand and dodged Gao Yang’s punch by swiftly stepping back, his agility belying his plump form.

Gao Yang did not follow up with a kick.

It wasn’t that he was willing to let the old man go; on the contrary, he wanted to teach him a lesson on how to behave.

Seeing Gao Yang hold back, the old man laughed loudly, “The buttocks feel nice, huh?

You’re lucky, young man, where did you find such fine merchandise?

Alright, don’t be mad.

I don’t want to kill you.

While I’m in a good mood, scram and let the elevator doors close.”

Gao Yang stopped Yelena and pushed her back, saying coldly, “Stand aside and watch.”

After shoving Yelena aside, Gao Yang grunted and delivered a ruthless punch.

When Gao Yang fights with fists and feet, there’s not much to say—his opening punch, followed directly by a Groin Kick, was a tried and true move.

But this time, Gao Yang had met his match.

Not underestimating his opponent, dodging his first punch let Gao Yang know this old man was not as simple as he appeared.

Thus, he treated him as a deadly adversary needed in a battlefield.

Even though Gao Yang was prepared for a fight to the death and used his reliable attack, he still couldn’t fully land it.

After Gao Yang’s punch missed, the old man twisted his body to avoid it and quickly locked both hands around Gao Yang’s arms.

Unable to avoid Gao Yang’s kick, the old man didn’t get hit in a critical spot; he slightly turned his body and braced himself with his knee against the kick.

Clearly still capable of fighting, the smile finally disappeared from the old man’s face.

His left arm pushed up while his right arm pulled down, aiming to break Gao Yang’s arms.

Gao Yang naturally wouldn’t let his arms be broken so easily.

He jumped up to lessen the pressure on his arms and his right knee suddenly smashed into the old man’s face.

The old man grabbed Gao Yang’s arm and blocked the knee, then with a loud shout, he threw Gao Yang down.

At the same moment, Gao Yang grabbed the old man’s hair, and they both fell to the ground together.

Once it turned into ground fighting, both were quick to control each other’s arms.

Just then, Yelena screamed and kicked at the back of the old man’s head.

Yelena was desperate, but she was only kicking out of impulse.

While her kicks could handle street thugs, they were merely tickles against an expert’s ability to withstand hits.

The old man bit his lip, arching his head back to take Yelena’s kick, then suddenly pulled up his legs, his feet angling to strangle Gao Yang’s neck.

Russian Sambo, or Soviet Sambo!

The old man’s stance was a clear display of Sambo fighting techniques, which are very effective on the ground.

Gao Yang relied on effective moves in a fight, and though he was not just a one-trick pony, his Groin Kick was particularly noteworthy.

Knowing the danger, Gao Yang tried his best to avoid having his neck broken.

Fortunately, he had recently survived a ground fight to the death, which was still fresh in his memory, and he had also learned Israeli Krav Maga.

Krav Maga also includes specialized ground techniques, which Gao Yang wasn’t very adept at, but he knew enough about how to prevent his neck from being strangled.

Gao Yang stretched out his left hand, aiming for the old man’s eyes.

As the old man’s upper body rapidly rose off the ground to dodge, his legs reached Gao Yang’s neck.

Suddenly, there was a piercing scream.
