702: 694th Chapter – Knocking Brick 702: 694th Chapter – Knocking Brick The taxi driver ran away as soon as he got out of the car, and Gao Yang jumped into the driver’s seat, steering the wheel back on track.
He tossed his pajamas onto the passenger seat and was about to drive forward when Gao Yang suddenly remembered something.
He pulled up his white T-shirt to cover his face, leaving only his eyes exposed.
Gao Yang was going to help Mark Yves and Magi break out.
He could still see the men in black shooting at the store from outside, and bullets were frequently fired from inside the store as well, punching holes into cars used as shields.
Clearly, Mark Yves and Magi hadn’t managed to escape from a back door or something similar.
Mark Yves had said that if he and Magi encountered trouble, Gao Yang should leave them and save himself.
Gao Yang had the janitor’s phone number, and he had changed his clothes; he could indeed leave and either find the janitor or have the janitor meet him.
But the problem was, Gao Yang couldn’t abandon his comrades—it was just something he couldn’t do.
After covering his face with the T-shirt, every breath was torturous.
Although not very intense, the penetrating body odor rushing up to his brain was enough to make Gao Yang nauseous despite the urgency of the situation.
Because it had been a British colony, South Africa also drove on the left side of the road, meaning the steering wheel was on the right side of the car.
This was somewhat unfamiliar to Gao Yang, and it also made shooting difficult because he needed to use his right hand to fire his gun from the right side of the car, stretching his arm out the window to shoot comfortably.
After taking a deep breath, Gao Yang shifted into drive.
He didn’t rush to accelerate but first swapped out the magazine in his pistol for a full one, then relaxed the clutch and drove towards the men in black hiding behind cars at a not-so-rapid pace.
Gao Yang noticed that the men in black didn’t seem to be aware of him, which wasn’t surprising given the heat of battle—who could pay attention to what was happening fifty meters away?
Gao Yang didn’t need to hurry; if he hit the gas and charged over, it might actually draw their attention.
It could be better to drive by as if just passing through normally.
Striving to keep his composure, Gao Yang put the car into second gear, then held the steering wheel with his left hand and rested his right hand, which held the gun, on the rolled-down window—of course, the pistol hung inside, out of view.
When Gao Yang was about ten meters away from the front of the store, one of the men in black noticed his car and waved at him, signaling him to leave.
Gao Yang consequently slowed down and stopped the car; feeling that the ten people hiding behind it were within shooting range, he suddenly flipped his hand, resting his arm on the window, and opened fire.
Shooting people from behind caused no moral burden for Gao Yang, especially at such close range.
There simply was no reason for him to miss their heads; any additional shot would be a failure.
As gunshots rang out continuously, by the time Gao Yang fired the fourth shot, those men in black realized they were being attacked from behind.
Those who reacted quickly turned around to assess the situation, but as soon as anyone turned, Gao Yang would promptly shoot them dead.
There were supposed to be eleven men in black.
Discounting the one killed and another wounded, that left nine.
Attacking from behind with a well-supplied P226 and catching the enemy off guard made the battle all too easy for Gao Yang.
Using the handgun as a knocker, after firing nine shots in succession, the obstructed door naturally opened.
Gao Yang didn’t shout but instead honked the car’s horn.
Soon, Magi came out, supporting Mark Yves as they staggered from the store.
Even as they passed two abandoned shopping bags, Mark Yves still took a moment to pick them up before getting into the car.
Magi let go of Mark Yves, turned around, and checked the men in black Gao Yang had knocked over, but he only needed to fire two shots, for Gao Yang had aimed for their heads—those hit were certainly dead, eliminating the necessity for further shots.
As Mark Yves pulled open the van’s rear door and didn’t get in but instead looked at the back seat in surprise, he asked, “Who is he?”
Taken aback, Gao Yang looked back and saw somebody on the back seat, noticing the exposed neck and arms were those of a Caucasian.
To be precise, someone was crouched in the gap in front of the seat, so much so that even though Gao Yang had glanced back before getting into the car, he hadn’t seen anyone there.
At that moment, Magi came running back.
He pulled open the passenger door and exclaimed loudly, “Come on, let’s go.”
Without responding, Mark Yves struggled to seat himself in the back, then immediately shut the door.
At that point, Gao Yang engaged the gear and released the clutch, and the car immediately shot forward.
After the vehicle started, Mark Yves had nowhere to place his feet, so he stepped directly on the head of the person in front, but the individual, tucked in the gap in front of the seat, just stayed still, buttocks in the air.
After a pained grunt, Mark Yves said, “Who is this guy?
Might as well just kill him.”
Gao Yang hurriedly responded, “No, no, don’t kill him, there’s no need, and, where are you hurt?”
Mark Yves, breathing heavily, replied, “Took a bullet in the stomach, but I won’t die.
Thanks.”
Magi, also catching his breath, said, “Thank you.”
No more needed to be said.
Mark Yves and Magi indeed had to ensure Gao Yang’s safety, but that didn’t mean they weren’t afraid of dying or that they wanted to die.
Being rescued from a hopeless situation, they were naturally grateful to Gao Yang.
Especially since Mark Yves and Magi had said more than once that if something happened, let Gao Yang escape first.
When they were trapped in the store, they indeed thought that Gao Yang would leave on his own.
There was another person in the car, so they couldn’t say much.
Mark Yves stopped talking to Gao Yang, but after poking the person underfoot with his pistol, he whispered, “You’re wise to keep your head down and stay still, now tell me where you’re going?”
There was no sound.
Mark Yves was astonished and said, “Is this guy too bold or too scared and dumbfounded?
How did he pop up all of a sudden?”
Gao Yang said urgently, “I stopped a taxi, it’s that simple.
I didn’t see anyone else in the car.
I mean, he didn’t see my face.
We should just let him get out and scram at the front, there’s no need to kill him.”
“That won’t do…
Hey, this guy is actually drunk!”
Mark Yves said with astonishment.
He grabbed the man’s hair by his feet but after he lifted the man’s head, he found that his eyes were closed, and there were faint snoring sounds from his nose, along with a somewhat boozy smell.
At that moment, Gao Yang and Magi both whispered, “Don’t move recklessly!”
In front were two sedans, and behind were two armored vehicles, followed by two military vehicles packed with people which brushed past Gao Yang and his group.
Mark Yves dared not shoot and said in a deep voice, “Turn ahead, drive into the city.”
Gao Yang took the T-shirt off his face and, after taking a few deep breaths, whispered, “First, let’s find a safe place for you to get treated, your injury can’t be delayed.
Do you have any suitable place in mind?”
Mark Yves said quietly, “Don’t worry about me, let’s get you out first.
Find a place to get off in front and go on your own; it’s too dangerous to be with us.
I’ll figure out my own injury.”
Gao Yang angrily said, “Cut the crap, will you?
Hurry up and tell me where to go.
If I could have left you guys behind, I would have gone by myself already.
Tell me where to go for treatment!”
Mark Yves thought for a moment, then sighed, “The problem is I can’t go to a hospital right now, nor do I have any suitable private clinics to go to.”
At this moment, Magi said in a serious tone, “Mark, you’ve been shot twice, you can’t delay much longer, go find…”
Mark Yves snapped, “Shut up, we can’t see them.”
Gao Yang knew that the so-called “them” referred to the cleaners, although he was unclear about who these cleaners were or how they operated.
But since Magi mentioned that they could go to the cleaners, it meant that the cleaners should be able to save Mark Yves.
“Alright, let’s go find them, you drive.”
After signaling Magi to drive, Gao Yang stopped the car and they switched places; his right hand was still holding a gun ready to fire at any moment, while his left hand took out the phone Mark Yves had given him, preparing to contact the cleaners.
Just then, Mark Yves suddenly said, “Don’t make the call, this guy’s awake.”
Gao Yang turned his head to look back, and saw the person being stepped on by Mark Yves was twisting, then started to make humming and muttering noises.
“God, where am I, oh God, please don’t hurt me, take all the money and everything, just please don’t hurt me.”
The man under Mark Yves’ foot moved and, realizing his situation, immediately looked up and saw Mark Yves, whose stomach was covered in blood, and also saw a dark gun muzzle.
He immediately began to plead for mercy.
The drunk spoke in a heavily accented British English, which Gao Yang understood clearly.
Helpless, Gao Yang covered his face with the stinky T-shirt again.
Gao Yang did not want more innocent people to be implicated because of him.
He was sure that if the drunk saw his face, Mark Yves would definitely kill the drunk, although Gao Yang felt it was unnecessary, Mark Yves thought otherwise.
After covering his face with the T-shirt, Gao Yang whispered, “Drunk, don’t look up, you’ve had too much to drink.
Pretend you saw nothing, shut your mouth and lie down on the ground, understand?”
“Drunk?
I haven’t had any alcohol!
Ah, I get it!
I understand, I didn’t see anything, I know nothing, gentlemen, everything is yours, please don’t hurt me, I’m just a foreigner who just arrived.
I won’t call the police, and I pose no threat to you.”
Gao Yang and Mark Yves exchanged glances, both feeling that something seemed off.
Mark Yves suddenly had a realization and said softly, “Hey, kid, were you drugged?
After getting into the taxi at the airport, did you suddenly know nothing?”
“I don’t know!
I didn’t see anything, I know nothing, don’t hurt me!”
Mark Yves looked at Gao Yang and smiled, saying, “I understand now, he’s just an unlucky fellow, but whether he’s more unlucky or more fortunate after meeting us is also hard to say, haha.”(To be continued.
