Mercenary’s War
Chapter 687 - 687 679 The Key Sixth Person

687: Chapter 679: The Key Sixth Person 687: Chapter 679: The Key Sixth Person Gao Yang had too many people to face, and although all those monitoring were experienced and had countless lives on their hands, they all panicked this time.

In one room, there were seven people.

Gao Yang needed to kill six of them with a small pistol that lacked even an aimer, and then kill the remaining one by any means possible.

Such a scenario, unless in a movie where the villains foolishly hold their guns and wait to be shot one by one by the protagonist, was unrealistic.

Drawing the gun, aiming at a target, shooting the target, waiting for the recoil effect to subside while turning the muzzle towards the next target—this process took time.

Even without needing to aim and just shooting based on instinct, firing within 0.5 seconds was not considered slow.

Even if Gao Yang could shoot one person with each bullet, he needed at least three seconds.

Please note that under the best circumstances, three seconds were needed.

However, the CIA agents were not fools.

Once they realized someone was shooting, they would take cover, which would require Gao more time to aim.

Moreover, they would return fire.

A qualified agent could draw their gun and fire in just one second, which was not unreasonable.

Even if drawing the gun and shooting took two to three seconds, the agents guarding Grand Ivan had enough time to shoot at Gao Yang by then, especially since two of them were armed with submachine guns, their hands already on their weapons.

Thus, as Gao Yang informed Ivan and the others of the situation and tried to get those staying in Grand Ivan’s ward to leave, everyone pricked up their ears.

If Gao achieved his objective, the plan could continue; if no one was willing to leave, the plan would be completely disrupted.

“I’m sorry, Professor, I cannot agree to your request.

It looks like you’ll have to get used to examining your patient under supervision,” was the direct refusal to Gao’s request to have people leave, greatly disappointing him.

With this development, he had no choice but to abandon his plan.

Taking out seven people was simply not possible for him; forcing the issue would only result in him dying alongside Grand Ivan.

Not only was Gao disappointed, but Ivan and the others were even more so.

After a weak wave of his hand, Ivan spoke resignedly, “Let’s wait and see if Ram can be escorted out.

We’ll initiate the attack after Ram leaves.

If Ram cannot leave, we have to attack immediately.

I believe as long as Ram isn’t exposed, there shouldn’t be any danger.”

Ryan also sighed, “Given the current situation, it’s impossible for him to carry out the original plan.

We better wait for Ram’s instructions and decide the timing according to his situation.”

Ivan and the others on the outside had almost given up the idea that Gao Yang would make a move, and a helpless Gao Yang could only pretend to inspect the medical records at this moment.

Abandoning halfway really wasn’t in Gao Yang’s nature.

Even if there had been six people left in the room, he would have dared take the risk.

However, with seven people, Gao truly couldn’t afford to throw his life away.

He only needed one person to leave before he would make his move.

Even if there were six people, unfortunately, there were precisely seven people in the room.

“Professor, please examine the patient carefully.

I need to leave for a moment.

If you need anything, just tell them, and they’ll inform me.

See you in a bit,” someone said as they left the room.

Gao Yang maintained his composure, but his heart was in turmoil.

He had just resolved internally that he would act even if there were six people; he hadn’t expected the opportunity to arise so suddenly.

Now that there really were only six people left, should he act or give up?

Just then, Glolov and Li Jinfang, who were monitoring the situation outside with Ivan and Uriyangko, were shocked.

Li Jinfang, who had been listening intently, suddenly looked up and exclaimed, “It’s bad, someone has left.

He will definitely make his move now!”

Glolov’s face turned pale, and he said trembling, “This idiot is definitely going to risk it.

He will act now!

Prepare for battle!”

As Glolov shouted urgently, Gao Yang observed attentively.

The person who had brought Gao Yang nodded at him politely and said goodbye, and as he watched him leave, Gao Yang took the opportunity to observe the stance of the two submachine gunners guarding the door.

The submachine gun was a UMP45, fitted with a red dot sight, a small grip, and a tactical flashlight, loaded with a 25-round magazine.

From the position of the bolt, the bullets were not chambered, and although the safety was on the reachable left side, it seemed not to be engaged.

Two people with pistols holstered at their waists, from the exposed grip, Gao could tell one of the side arms was an M1911, the thin grips of a single-row magazine pistol were discernible, but he couldn’t identify the other pistol due to the angle.

Gao’s heart was beating fast; he had to make a choice: take the risk or abandon the task halfway and give up acting.

Li Jinfang and Glolov hadn’t misjudged Gao; they knew that despite the dire situation, Gao would definitely make a move, and indeed, Gao did not disappoint their expectations.

Steeling his heart, Gao coughed twice, paused for two seconds, coughed twice more, and then continued with three more coughs.

Hearing the sound through the loudspeaker, Ryan shouted, “The signal is clear!

He’s going to move!

Ram is taking action!”

All at once, there was a flurry of activity in the room.

Everyone was racking their weapons, turning off the safeties.

The glow night vision devices powered up and were positioned in front of their eyes.

Cars in the yard started, doors opened and were held open by hands, waiting to rush to the Consulate General’s entrance where people would dismount and start the assault on foot, standing behind the door, which was left wide open, waiting for the assault team to burst out.

Gao Yang coughed lightly a few times, signaling he was ready to make his move.

He then looked up thoughtfully, before lowering his head and placing down the folder naturally, holding it in his left hand and lightly patting it with his right, then began pacing.

He was five meters from the two men at the door, two meters from one man by the bed and almost right in front of another, three meters from one in the corner and six from another.

The room was basically square, and Gao Yang, positioned near the middle edge, quickly decided on his plan: first, shoot the two men with submachine guns at the door since they could be ready to fire in the least time and posed the greatest threat; next, the two men by the bed since they were too close and could engage in hand-to-hand combat with a single leap; and finally, the two in the corners.

Having decided the order, Gao Yang pretended to move away unintentionally from his original spot.

He wanted to be a bit farther from the two men by the bed to avoid interference or even disruption while shooting, and also get closer to one of the men in the corner.

Watching Gao Yang move, the man by the bed was about to stop him, but another gestured with a wave of his hand, indicating not to disturb Gao Yang’s thoughts.

He took two steps toward the door, turned, walked back two steps, and then started circling.

Gao Yang’s hand remained at his belt buckle, hidden by the folder he was holding.

Gao Yang could remain composed in the face of danger; the greater the danger and tension, the better he performed, characteristic of a true competitive athlete.

Although it was a gamble with his life, not just a contest, once Gao Yang had made up his mind to act and had signaled, his heartbeat slowed.

He felt very calm, extraordinarily calm.

Finally, reaching the point he had chosen to make his move, Gao Yang adjusted his angle and placed his hand on the gun handle.

Still appearing contemplative, head down, brows furrowed, he turned halfway toward the door where, gripping the gun handle tight, he drew the gun, still with a thoughtful look, but now aimed it at a guard.

The barrel was short, so the bullets traveled a shorter distance inside it, allowing for quick re-aiming while ensuring powerful impact.

Gao Yang, without any warning, fired suddenly.

The poorly stopping but strongly penetrating arrow-shaped, long-rod bullet entered behind the guard’s ear, shattered the bone, penetrated the brainstem, and burst out the back of the skull, causing immediate death.

After firing once, Gao Yang didn’t bother to check if the target had fallen.

He didn’t even see if the bullet had hit, but immediately aimed at the other man at the door.

Gunfire sounded, followed quickly by another.

The second bullet entered beneath a guard’s cheekbone and came out the back of his head.

Since the two men at the door were close together, Gao Yang didn’t need much time to adjust, so to Ivan and Ryan listening, the two gunshots sounded simultaneously, indistinguishable.

“Ataka!”

“Go!

Go!

Go!”

Upon hearing the gunfire through the earpiece, Ivan and Ryan almost roared as they and all the standby personnel surged forward.

Gao Yang’s right side was the door, his left, the hospital bed.

He chose to shoot sideways towards the bed and the door because it allowed the quickest adjustment of his gun.

Raising his gun, he instantly killed the two men at the door with the submachine guns.

Twisting his body slightly, he then shot another guard who, reacting quickly, hadn’t reached for his gun but had lunged toward him.

Without aiming, and no time to do so as he would’ve been tackled in just a moment, Gao Yang fired as soon as he swung the gun back to chest level.

The bullet, fired purely on instinct, entered through the man’s nose.

This time the bullet didn’t exit through the back of the head, but it still completely destroyed the brainstem, causing immediate death to a third person.

Gao Yang straightened his arm towards a stunned man reaching under his armpit and fired the fourth shot.

The bullet entered through the man’s eye, severely damaging the entire brain and lodging inside, though slightly off-center — it was unclear whether it had reached the brainstem, but the man died instantly nonetheless.

The fifth target was directly opposite Gao Yang.

When Gao Yang aimed at the fifth guard, the man had already drawn his gun and raised it, but hadn’t accurately aimed it at Gao Yang.

Though he fired a shot in desperation, he failed to hit Gao Yang.

Gao Yang fired, the bullet entering between the two eyes, just above the bridge of the fifth guard’s nose, leading to the instant death of the fifth guard.

The sixth was carrying an M1911 pistol.

Gao Yang had turned his back on him because the M1911 is a single-action pistol; before firing, the slide must be pulled to chamber a round, so it couldn’t fire immediately upon being drawn.

Gao Yang turned and saw that the man behind him had already drawn his gun and was aiming at him.

Gao Yang fired just as his opponent shot at his head.
