Mercenary’s War -
Chapter 677 - 677 Six Hundred and Sixty-Nine Different Styles
677: Chapter Six Hundred and Sixty-Nine: Different Styles 677: Chapter Six Hundred and Sixty-Nine: Different Styles Mercenaries and assassins share some commonalities in the nature of their work, as both are killers, but they differ in how they approach their tasks.
There are jobs that mercenaries do which assassins can’t, and vice versa, but such limitations are relative.
In general, each specializes in their own skills.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Ivan turned to Ryan and said, “You can introduce yourself and tell us what you’re good at.
That way, everyone will know how you can contribute.”
Ryan nodded solemnly, “My wife and I were once part of an assassin organization, a small one that you wouldn’t have heard of.
We left it a few years ago and are now freelancers, so that’s not important.
What’s important is what we can do.”
Pointing to Medusa, Ryan continued with a smile, “My wife, Medusa, is an expert in thievery, swindling, intelligence, languages, and cryptography.
She’s good at hand-to-hand combat, quite decent with a handgun, and she’s also a makeup artist.”
After his introduction, Ryan pointed to himself and chuckled, “I have far fewer skills than my wife.
I could be considered a hacker, and I’m responsible for analyzing intelligence and making action plans.”
Having said this, Ryan spread his hands and added, “Now you understand, my wife and I were support and auxiliary personnel in our former organization, not the ones who executed the final actions.
So now that you know our roles, what do you need us to do?”
Medusa, who hadn’t spoken until now, smiled and said, “I must declare that Ryan and I are retired.
We’re enjoying retirement and don’t want to return to our past life.
Ivan, you saved both me and Ryan, so we’re here to repay you, but after this job, you won’t be able to contact us anymore.”
Ryan made a helpless gesture and said to Ivan, “Sorry, that’s just how Medusa speaks.
You know, she’s always wanted to say farewell to our former way of life.
In fact, we both just want to lead ordinary lives now.”
Ivan nodded and replied, “No need to apologize.
I’m grateful that you could come.”
Gao Yang wasn’t interested in delving into the private lives of Ryan and his wife.
He brought out the floor plans of the consulate, printed out all the useful intelligence, and laid it before Ryan, saying sternly, “Take a look and give us a plan.”
Without demur, Ryan picked up the documents and reviewed them quickly.
After swiftly going through the information in his hands, he fell into deep thought.
From the moment he picked up the documents to the time he set them down, Ryan had taken less than ten minutes.
After pondering for only a short two to three minutes, Ryan suddenly drew a circle on the map with a pencil and said solemnly, “It’s clear now.
The key issue is at the Consulate General.
A frontal assault plan is bound to fail and can be discarded.”
Gao was skeptical about whether Ryan could have reached any conclusions in just a few minutes, but Ryan soon dispelled his doubts.
After drawing a circle with the pencil, Ryan unconsciously bit the end of the pencil and mumbled with his head down, “This is tough, but simpler than I thought.
First off, having intelligence from so many South African officials makes it a lot easier.
The only issue now is how to get Grand Ivan out of the Consulate General.
It’s much more viable to target him outside than inside.”
Having said that, Ryan looked up and asked, “I haven’t seen a list of the Consulate General’s staff.
Is it possible to obtain one?
I need detailed information, preferably on the local employees.
The quicker, the better.
The South African intelligence agencies will definitely have such a list.
I think you should be able to get your hands on it.”
After thinking for a moment, Ivan immediately said, “No problem.
We have people in the South African National Intelligence Agency.
As long as they have the list, we’ll get it.
Please wait, I’ll make a call to inquire.”
Ivan stepped away to make a call and returned in two minutes, saying, “The list is secured.
Please wait.”
It wasn’t long before someone brought a stack of freshly printed names and placed them in front of Ivan.
Embassies and consulates such as these are de facto intelligence agencies, and every country monitors foreign embassies closely.
It would be strange indeed if an intelligence agency of a country didn’t keep a close watch on another country’s embassies and consulates.
The list was very detailed, containing not only the names of the staff of the United States Cape Town Consulate General but also those of the local employees in Cape Town.
Particularly, the information concerning the local staff was comprehensive, including photos, names, residential addresses, family relationships, height, weight, and more.
Ryan picked up the American side of the list, then handed the list of local employees to Medusa.
The two of them started to go through the information quickly.
As they read, they pulled out certain documents, and after a few minutes, a few sheets of paper were lying before them.
They then picked up the extracted documents to examine them closely.
Eventually, Medusa spoke gravely, “There are three people we can use.
A man named Kevin Murray, a Boer male aged forty responsible for maintaining the grounds and performing some cleaning tasks.
Nina Jansen, a female Boer, thirty-five years old, a housekeeper.
And Gilly Matu, a black female, forty-one years old, also a cleaner.
These three are likely candidates who could gain access to the interior of the consulate.”
Ryan immediately looked at Ivan and said, “You’ve been monitoring the Consulate General for about thirty hours now, so during this period, has anyone entered or left?”
Ivan shook his head, “Only Americans have been going in and out, all of them, staff from the Consulate General’s foreign affairs office.
As for other people, I’ve never seen anyone come out.”
Ryan nodded, “They’re restricting access, which is expected, but there are still ways to manage it.”
After speaking, Ryan began to bite the end of his pencil, pondering for a moment before he whispered, “We have to get Grand Ivan out of the Consulate General.
Only then is there a possibility of rescuing him.
Hmm, a hospital is an option, we need to create a situation where they have no choice but to send Grand Ivan to the hospital for emergency treatment.”
After finishing speaking, Ryan immediately said to Medusa, “Give me the data.”
After looking through the information of the three people Medusa had selected, Ryan put the man’s information aside and after a brief glance, whispered, “The identities of these two women can be of use.
Mrs.
Jansen has a six-year-old son and is a single mother.
Matu, an odd surname, has two sons and a husband who is a college football coach.
My dear, confirm whether these two ladies are inside the Consulate General.”
Medusa took a cellphone after that, then began making calls.
The call was initially in English, but soon switched to Zulu, which is widely used among South African black people.
When Medusa spoke, her tone was extremely gentle, and her voice was completely different from when she had spoken earlier, as if it was a completely different person speaking.
Shortly after, Medusa hung up the phone and stated, “Gilly Matu is at home.
She was notified that she doesn’t need to work for the next few days.
This line is dead, it won’t work.”
After saying this, Medusa quickly made a second call.
At first, no one answered.
After a short wait, she changed the phone number and called again, then she promptly started a conversation.
This time she used English, but quickly switched to Afrikaans, the common language of the Boers in South Africa.
After a brief conversation, Medusa put down the phone and said, “Nina Jansen, no one answered at her home phone.
I called her son’s school, and the school said that for the past few days it’s been Nina Jansen’s mother picking up the child.”
Ryan snapped his fingers, smiling, “Excellent, Nina Jansen is inside the Consulate General.
We’ll get her out, and then you go in.”
Uriyangko finally couldn’t contain his curiosity and blurted out, “How are you going to get her out?
And how are you going to get in?”
Medusa gave a slight smile and said, “Very simple, for a single mother, I don’t believe she would ignore something happening to her child, even if it meant losing her job, she would need to see her son.”
Gao Yang frowned, “Is it really that simple?”
Medusa shrugged, “Knowing her parents’ address, knowing her son’s school, it’s too easy to create a situation that forces Nina Jansen to leave the Consulate General.”
Gao Yang couldn’t help but be impressed.
Compared to their straightforward style of work, the tricks Ryan and his wife played were beyond his imagination.
After checking his watch, Ryan immediately said, “Nina Jansen’s father has a serious cerebral vascular issue.
Go to her parents’ house, and then get her to go home under the pretext of her father’s critical condition, how does that sound?”
Medusa immediately shook her head, “No, not good.
For a mother, the most important thing is her child.
The elementary school in Cape Town starts at nine in the morning, and classes have already begun.
It looks like I will have to make a trip to the school myself.”
Ryan smiled, “Be careful with the method, it must look normal.
I need a very normal accident.
Americans are very cautious, don’t be too rough.”
Medusa responded at once, “I need to go to the school, see the child, who will then suddenly fall critically ill, a serious condition that will draw everyone’s attention and cause panic.
I believe Nina Jansen will do everything she can to see her child.”
After finishing her point, Medusa appeared perplexed as she scratched her head, saying urgently, “For the love of God, I don’t want to harm a child.
Give me an idea to make it look serious but without any real issues or lasting effects—and flawless from every angle.
Darling, give me a hint.”
Ryan chuckled, “It’s quite simple, make it look like acute food poisoning.
The child will vomit and have diarrhea and will also be briefly unconscious.
He will look terrifying, but he will not be hurt in any way.
You should’ve thought of that.
I hope you’ve brought the necessary medicine.”
Medusa immediately stood up, “Of course, it’s in my case.
Ivan, I need a car, I need to leave right away.”(To be continued.
