Mercenary’s War
Chapter 664 - 664 656 A Battle for Divine Enthronement

664: Chapter 656: A Battle for Divine Enthronement 664: Chapter 656: A Battle for Divine Enthronement Gao Yang had completely lost himself to the frenzy of the battle.

Long periods of intensive, high-quality shooting forced Gao Yang to focus all his energy on firing his weapon.

When the situation wasn’t too tense, Gao Yang would still find time to chat, but now, he had forgotten even his own existence, aware only of taking down each enemy charging at him!

The Rebel Army launched its final, desperate assault, and Gao Yang, whose mind had gone blank, didn’t count his bullets anymore—he just fired as long as he had a gun in his hands.

The enemy charged from four directions simultaneously, and Gao Yang took care of the attackers from all sides until, eventually, when his Blade of Satan ran out of bullets, he didn’t need it anymore, as the enemies from all four directions finally breached the distance to within four hundred meters.

Less than four hundred meters; that was all.

Gao Yang and his comrades were not yet in the direst of straits—at least, the enemies were far from the grenade-throwing range.

Finally, the hundred bullets in his SVD ran out.

As another SVD magazine was handed to Gao Yang, he had only fired one shot when the screaming Rebel Army, in mid-charge, suddenly turned and started running away.

The enemy was retreating.

After Gao Yang exhausted the ten bullets left in his magazine, he then heard the rumbling of engines, the sound of a machine gun firing, and the explosions of shells hitting the ground.

Gao Yang hurriedly set down his rifle, then his hands began to tremble.

He turned his head toward the source of the sounds and saw tanks and armored vehicles coming from the west, and government soldiers jumping off trucks, chasing after the retreating Rebel Army.

The government forces’ reinforcements had finally arrived.

Gao Yang, who had been lying down, suddenly collapsed to the ground, but with his tense nerves now relaxed, he just wanted to lie there and rest properly.

Gao Yang felt his shoulders ache.

In half an hour, he had fired more than four hundred rounds; it would be strange if his shoulders didn’t hurt.

Gao Yang felt incredibly tired, not so much physically, but mentally.

The intense concentration and sustained firing had worn him out completely.

After lying on the ground for less than two minutes, Gao Yang pushed himself up again.

He first checked the battle situation.

With the tanks and armored vehicles firing from close range in pursuit, it was unlikely that the Rebel Army could escape.

The situation was resolved; the Rebel Army was doomed.

Gao Yang breathed a sigh of relief and radioed, “Report the situation.

Is anyone injured?”

“No one else got hurt, everyone is in good shape, Bruce passed out, but aside from Bruce, everyone is okay.”

The one reporting was Li Jinfang, and after he finished, Eileen chimed in.

“Boss, you’ve been possessed by God, no, today you are God.”

Gao Yang gave a wry smile.

He had fought a battle that might only happen once in a lifetime, but he would rather not encounter such a battle ever again—a battle he was drawn into simply by bad luck and happenstance.

After handing the SVD back to its original owner, Gao Yang picked up the Blade of Satan, which was now out of bullets.

He tried to stand up from the ground, but he couldn’t do it on his first attempt.

Gao Yang was just mentally exhausted, but his physical strength had no issue.

After adjusting himself a bit, he was about to stand up when the lieutenant who had been by his side reached out and pulled him up.

Though he didn’t need it, Gao Yang still took the lieutenant’s hand and used it to stand up and then smiled, “Thank you.”

The lieutenant did not respond to Gao Yang’s words but took a step back and saluted Gao Yang, then extended his thumb and said a sentence.

“Gun God!

He said you are the Gun God!”

Raja promptly translated, and then the lieutenant was also fixated on Gao Yang, gave him a salute, and said the same sentence in Arabic as the first lieutenant.

Without needing Raja’s translation, Gao Yang knew what they both meant, Gun God.

The battle was drawing close to an end, and all the prostrate government soldiers were basically standing up.

They walked up to Gao Yang one by one, saluted him, and each said the same thing, “Gun God.”

The sniper, holding the SVD that had displayed unimaginable power in Gao Yang’s hands, stared at Gao Yang and muttered “Gun God,” then suddenly reached out and touched Gao Yang’s hand before speaking with a look of absolute admiration.

“He said doing so might allow him to possess some of your magic, making his aim more accurate.”

Gao Yang couldn’t help but laugh and cry at this, but even the lieutenant couldn’t help touching him on the back, soldiers always hoped to improve their gunmanship, although the lieutenant thought the sniper’s words were quite ridiculous, he still couldn’t resist reaching out his hand.

After being touched by many people like a mascot, the lieutenant finally said to Gao Yang, “I witnessed a battle today that seemed like a miracle.

My name is Faisal Sharai, and it is a great honor to meet you.

I am very grateful for your help, and I cannot express my gratitude to you enough with words.”

Since Gao Yang could only understand through translation, he felt that something was missing, feeling a bit awkward, and he suddenly remembered that Raja had not yet mentioned how he had fabricated their backgrounds for these government soldiers.

After nodding at Faisal, Gao Yang smiled at Raja and said, “Tell him we were glad to help.

Also, I don’t think they speak English, so quickly tell me what you have to.”

After Raja smiled and said a word to Faisal, he immediately said to Gao Yang, “I told them we are military advisors sent by Russia to help them in combat, secretly.

Um, hopefully, we can extract ourselves in time.”

At this moment, the impatient lieutenant spoke up, and then Raja shrugged and said, “He said his name is Farouk Aler, and he wishes to know your name.

I think it would be better if you didn’t tell the truth, but definitely don’t use the name Camel again.”

Gao Yang smiled and said, “Tell him my name is, um, just tell them my nickname is Gun God.

I can’t think of a fake name, and also, tell them we need to leave immediately to tend to our wounded.”

Just as Raja had repeated the impromptu nickname Gao Yang had coined, a harsh screeching of brakes was heard, and when the surrounding soldiers dispersed, a cross-country vehicle was seen parked at the rear of the crowd.

An officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel stepped out of the vehicle and quickly walked over, shouting loudly as he did, “Faisal, it’s great you’re unharmed, how are our casualties?”

Before he finished speaking, the lieutenant colonel saw Gao Yang surrounded by the troops and then, with a look of amazement, said, “Who are they?”

Gao Yang could not understand the conversation between the lieutenant colonel and Lieutenant Faisal.

He could only recognize the new word he had just learned.

While occasionally pointing at him, Faisal, with a face full of excitement and with the aid of Lieutenant Farouk gesturing animatedly, repeatedly mentioned the term “Gun God” to the lieutenant colonel.
